check out the dim sum promotion every monday to saturday, 230-530pm, 30% off dim sum menu. it's a good deal!

i tried their custard bun (supposedly their specialty dim sum dish), xiao long bao, queen siew mai, carrot cake, and char siew rice roll. the xlb is good! the skin may nt be as thin as other restaurants, but it is soft and does not break easily too. the soup is abundant and really savoury. gotta be my fave dish here! the siew mai was good too, and the rest just average - generally nice, but nothing to rave abt.

tea is $4 a pot and they'll always top up with hot water, so it's good to get a pot if you're intending to chat over tea.

there are two types of bubbles here, big and small. i've tried both and they presented quite different taste. the small ones all gush into your mouth everytime you suck on your straw, and it's quite overwhelming the first time i tried. haha. it's qt nice actually. cos u'd feel all satisfied being stuffed with pearls in your mouth. lol

but if u're like me, who likes to chew on pearls, maybe u'll still like the good ol' big pearls. so good to bite on!

tea wise the flavour taste pretty authentic, the original that is. very aromatic tea taste. the variant flavours are qt normal. i tried the choco and it's just like cocoa powder? but they're nt stingy in the flavour tho so it's really rich.

a little more costly than the normal ones like sweet talk, but for that few cents more you can taste more authentic and aromatic tea, so try it someday!

okay, hits and misses for this cafe found along the siglap stretch.

lets talk about the hits first. the ambience of the cafe is really qt quaint and comfortable. totally suitable for nua-ing the lazy afternoons away (: i've been here a coupla times, but it's only on my last visit that i got a seat indoors, prolly cos this is the only time when i visited in the afternoon rather than at night. the interior boasts of a victorian feel, with many many paintings, statues, and ornaments adorning the place. i thot it seemed a lil' messy actually. haha. but that aside, it was really cosy sitting on the daybed-styled cushy seats listening to the fountain spewing water. oh, the cheesecakes are quite yummy too.

for the misses, i for one dont quite fancy their strict policy of requiring one order per customer. i thot it's a little inflexible? tho i understand that it's to ensure they get their revenue esp since they experience fullhouse v often. still, i didnt like the pressure of HAVING to order something. it's qt pricey too, so it's certainly not a place i'll choose to visit often.

this relatively new eatery nicely tucked away in a corner of wisma is quite a hidden treasure in this bustling mall. i particularly liked it's cosy location and ambience. perhaps when i went it was still rather undiscovered and patrons were few and sparse, my frens and i were able to sit around for some gd hours just chatting away and enjoying the food.

the prices on the menu are qt reasonable, although the quality of the food is nothing to rave about. i do think they are quite aware of the increasing health-consciousness of singaporeans tho, because they are not too heavy-handed in the seasoning so the food tasted qt light but flavourful enough.

i have to mention the great service here. the staff are always smiling and are generally attentive to customers' needs. they conscientiously refill your glasses too so you can stay on for a chit chat after your meal without feeling the urgency to leave. all in all worth a visit, especially if you dont feel like paying much for food republic, and have gotten sick of the other restaurants in the mall.

i've always wanted to try the macaroons from canele, looking at how pretty they are and how they're often so highly raved. so i went down to raffles city a few days back and finally set my hands on them!

asked the staff there for recommendations and he suggested coffee, pistachio, caramel and the milk choc feullitine. i had one of each. oh and they looked so small and cute!

i first sank my teeth into the caramel one and i was wondering how did it get so many positive reviews?! sure enough im not a fan of super sweet food, and definitely not caramel. to be fair, it was crispy on the outside and really chewy on the inside. texture wise this prolly was also the most exciting of the lot.

thankfully, the coffee and milk choc feullitine saved my day! i find their taste just right, not too sweet and flavourful enough. my fren found feullitine a tad too sweet for her liking tho, and loved the pistachio most, which was quite light in flavour. if you shld eat this combi of flavours, i do suggest that you finish the light-flavoured ones first before moving on to the rest. or else, like me, u can barely taste the pistachio!

ambience wise it's really nice at this outlet, esp if you can get a seat just beside the fountain, so you dont have to be distracted by the crowd wheezing by beside you..
