Crystal La Mian offers a wide variety of Chinese food, and it includes items offered at Crystal Jade Kitchen. For eg, you can also find some Cantonese Dim Sum like "Spring Roll", "Hau-kau", "Siew-Mien" and "Cher Siaw Bao". However, it doesn't have egg noodle or congee, which is only available at ordinary Crystal Jade outlets.

Instead you can find Lian Mian, xiaolong bao and pan-fired wo-tien & other Shanghai common delicacy.

Some of the variety of Lian Mian include
    meat & vegetable dumplings
    shrimp dumplings
    chicken with stock, etc
Prices range from $8.50 to $10. It has a selection of Lian Mian for you to choose from like
    Dragon-beard
    Triangle-face
    Broad-face
    Hand-torn, etc.

The proportion of Lian-mian is plenty, but not its dumplings which is only limited to 3-4.

Service is good, waiters are always around and re-fill empty glass promptly. But waiting time for Lian-Mian could take up to 10 min. Everything is monetised here though, you will charged for plain water, wet tissue and the plate of peanuts which is served as appetiser.

      12. Soghurt (West Mall)

This store is conspicuously located near the taxi-stand, and right next to Moses Burger. It is a small store, hence it has only about 3 tables inside it, the rest are placed outside which has no air-con. The decor of the store is juvenile and colourful - colourful mural with cute dollies and delicious yogurts line the walls of the shop. Its staff usually 1-2 young, pretty girls in sweet dresses will man the shop.

It is a self-service store, hence customers grab a paper cup, dispense their favour of yoghurt, choose their toppings and make payment at the cashier. Price is 100g/$3, with a 10% discount for students

It claims to use Made-in-USA yoghurt that is low-fat, high-calcium and rich in healthy bacteria. The favour of yoghurt offered are Lychee, Cream & Cookies, Plain, Mango and strawberry. Or a combination of any favour with plain.

Toppings include bits of fruit like kiwi, peaches. Marshmellow, corn flakes, low-fat granola, waffles biscuits and etc. From experience, a single cup could easily cost $5-6.

The yoghurt is more viscuous and less watery than those sold in supermarkets. It tastes neither too coy nor to sour, just nice. The only deterrent factor for me is the price.

Located at JP 2, Joop seem to be running a thriving business. On most occasions I visited it, there will be several customers in it. Its shop space isn't very large so it can be a little squzese.

Joop sell female clothes targeted at the mid-teens to early thirties age group. Its designs are girlish and trendy. Prices range from about $40 for a top to $70 for a dress. Every now and then, it will offer some promotion like $20 off if total spending is above $100. However, it doesn't have sales often even during GSS I don't recall it having a sales.

The designs can be a little revealing as knee-length or shorter dresses and skirts are its typical offerings. Slightly low-cut dresses are often offered too. The materials used are average, but the designs are up-to-date and feminine. For eg, lace, frills, ribbons are incorporated.

I tried this restaurant once, and I don't think I will be visiting it again. After trying it out, I don't understand why there is always a queue during dinner time. Perhaps it is just me, who can't accept its taste.

I, too, tried the Taiwan Vermicelli and find the soup excessively starchy. I find its dishes spicy although it is not stated on the menu. I can't recall what dishes I tried as it a long time ago. But I do remember that the food is not nice.

However during tea-time, they offer set meal which come with a drink and toasted bread with various spread, like Kaya, peanut butter and etc. Also I recall that there is special set meals for students.

I have visited this restaurant twice, and find that it offers a wide variety of thai food. It also has an all-day set meal with prices from approx. $8.90- $11.90. Its set meal are changed every few months.

Its menu runs the complete gamut of Thai fare, you can find Appetisiers, Main Course, Dessert and Drink.Thankfully, not all the food offered is spicy. For eg, its Fried Rice isn't. I have tried its seafood pineapple fried rice, which cost about $9. Unfortunately, I find it strange. It is a little sour. I don't think I will be trying this again!

On the other hand, its honey chicken is delicious. Currently, it is offering honey chicken in its set meal for $8.90. All set meals come with a side dish, main course and fruit. To be frank, I don't find its set meal economical, because the portion of food is small. There were only a few pieces of chicken, so you have to stuff yourself with the rice, which fortunately is of acceptable portion. The side dish is 2 fishcakes on bamboo, again, I find its taste somewhat strange.
The fruit is 2 slices of watermelon, sprinkled with brown sugar.

The service has room for improvement. I asked for warm water, but the waiter served room-temperature water instead. And when I finished the water, none of the waiters bothered to re-fill it until I asked. Sometimes, I have to wait a while before I could get the attention of the staff too.
