I went to Huang Jia Restaurant with my family as recommended by my relatives who was a member of Huang Restaurants. Apparently there is another branch at Clarke Quay which is called Huang Ting Restaurant.

After I dined in last last week at Huang Jia Restaurant, I joined as a member too! As they had really great food, promotion, service and ambience. Many perks being a member, since I know I have found a nice restaurant to entertain my clients with the quiet ambience, impressive food quality and with prices which are not as expensive as those other restaurants like peach garden or tung lok.

I went there to try their signature chicken and was truely delighted by the juicy chicken meat yet crispy chicken skin. Really the best I have ever eaten. The beef tenderloin cubes was also tender and delicious. Their Huang Jia Fried rice had great portions of ingredients and hence very tasty, unlike at Din Tai Fung where you only have egg with rice and some prawns or pork on top. Their Steam cod fish was also fresh and appetising.

For a chinese restaurant, I was surprised by their unique mango pudding dessert which was served with black glutinous rice. My family called only one to try out and after that, ordered two more as one really was not enough to share among 6 adults and 2 kids. We also tried their baked souffle for dessert which was a had a light coconut taste. Very suited for my sister who had a sweet tooth and loves coconut related desserts.

Currently they are having a Peking Duck promotion at $23.80 but as it was for reservations, we didn't manage to order it. But I will definitely be go back to enjoy this promotion before it ends. Seeing that their chicken is the best I ever eaten, I am quite sure that their Peking Duck will be not fall short of my expectations also.

Probably I could try their sister restaurant at Clarke Quay for the promotion as they have the Peking Duck Promotion there too. I heard that at Huang Ting they have Ala-Carte Buffet also.

That's why I joined as a member willingly and not because I was sold on their sales talk. Their service staff is polite and did not try to sell us the membership unlike at Tunglok at Central.

In all I spent around $40 per pax for this fine-dining restaurant with great food and high class ambience.

Huang Jia was a real discovery for me. The ambience is really different from the usual Chinese restaurant, but what stands out is the quality and the care taken over the food. The flavours are delicate - not over-salted, over-starched, over-oily, over anything. After you have tried Huang Jia, other Chinese restaurants may seem deficient.

And yes, the crispy roast chicken is the best I've ever eaten - thin, crispy skin on the outside, tender and juicy meat on the inside. I really don't know how they do it, but it is very special. And they maintain consistency - one of my bugbears is when a dish is excellent on one trip and poor on the next. I sincerely hope they will maintain this quality.

People haven't discovered it yet and it is still pretty quiet, so get there before it starts to become known and get crowded. I think the restaurant deserves to be packed.

Came with my family to Kallang Leisure Park on a weekend and decided to try out Huang Jia Restaurant on recommendation from a friend.

The ambience was very nice and elegant. The restaurant was quite full. Service was good but the food really stood out. I highly recommend the Lobster Claypot and Crispy Roast Chicken. The Lobster Claypot was very good with its black pepper and slightly herbal taste. The herbal taste was not overpowering yet once the claypot was opened by the waiter the smell was wonderful.

The Crispy Roast Chicken was really really good, one of the best I have ever tried. The skin was super crispy and shiny while the rest of the meat was smooth and not too oily.

The whole family had a great time. I highly recommend the food and will definately come back with family and friends.

All in all we spend about $100 for 4pax which was great value.
