This place is not exactly very convenient to those who lives in the West or East. But if you crave for a good american food, this is the place to go.
It is tucked in at the corner of Andrews Avenue in one of the houses (landed property). You won't go wrong cos that is the only restaurant in that stretch. Parking wise, no carpark is available so just park opposite the restaurant itself.
They have recommended meals for the week which the service waiter will advise. So far, their recommendation never went wrong.
Ok, now for their signature item -
a) Clam Chowder - really yummy!
b) Buffalo wings - You must decide on spicy level for the wings when ordering. 3 is so-so for me. But then again, I am a spicy eater.
c) Onion rings are served in a towel holder vertically (very innovative) and they are huge and comes with dip. The onions are fried to deep crisp. Very good.
The main course are really huge portion! Sphagetti, steak.. and all. If you are a small eater, suggest you share the main course :)
My couple friend, Robin (the executive chef) and Pris (the Marketing manager) recommended me this place.
This branch exudes a nice ambience for family, couple or even group of friends. Their milk leather sofa is very inviting.
Food wise, they served good food always (kudos Robin!). Recommended :
1. Crab Caesar
2. Linguini with crabmeat tomato chllis and pinenuts
3. Scrambled Eggs and sausages on toast with field mushrooms (gd for brunch!)
Dessert:
1. Nutella cupcake (you have to order first cos its so popular that by the time you ordered, they may have sold out their last one)
2. Banoffi Pie.
They also have kids' menu. Like I told you friendly family place.
My first time there, I was rather confused over what to order and what to do when the food is ready. Luckily, a staff came to my rescue.
I like their juicy steak and hamburger set best and never fail to ask for more taugeh. Their sauce is rather nice too.
After a good meal, I will leave the place smell of bbq.
Tip: Pepper Lunch outlet which is within foodcourt is much much cheaper than those on their own. The ones in their own establishment cost about $3-$4 more than the ones I tried in foodcourt. Food selection seems pretty much the same.
Dont understand why it's called popeye when they are not serving spinach but junk food. Anyways, I do enjoy junk food :P
I find their chicken pieces pretty tender and their set meal is value for $. And yes, their biscuits with jam is nice too.
Food was ok. But their service is rather slow. I have been there 3 times and each time I have to queue up like 10 mins before I get served. Super long queue.
Their staff are also not like Macs where they will ask whether you want their promotions eg. buy this for only $2 etc. So I ended up paying for normal price when I decided to buy a brownie which would have been much cheaper if I bought it together with my meal :(
Everytime I walk pass Ikea Cafe, I will drool over the succelent wings and their meatballs. It looks good. Err.. but I didnt eat it cos it's not Halal. :(
But still I am glad that Ikea Tampines has introduced their halal range so it means that I can have my meal there while "people watching".
The halal food range is rather limited and they do not have their signature meatballs! I had their set nasi padang meal - not really fantastic. To play safe, should go for their finger food like nuggets and fries. You won't go wrong.
And, I tried their desserts too! Their DAIM cake is fabulous.. provided you have sweet tooth.
The outlet in Tampines is like 3 times bigger than Alexandra but it is still always packed especially during lunch and dinner and on weekends.
