Phuket's tranquil beaches, islands and abundant natural wonders bring a serene and magical air to Phuket Island. The spirit of Phuket Island, Phangnga and Krabi lives in the friendly smiles and gentle nature of its people, and the magnificence of their surroundings. These elements - combined with the modern convenience of Phuket hotels and Phuket resorts - have come together to make Phuket Thailand's premier tourist destination.

Was at Phuket last year end for a short holiday. Bought the Go Holiday DIY Package via air asia website which includes air tix hotel, about 600sgd for two for 4D3N. I think its pretty reasonable, with the The Royal Paradise Hotel being a 4star hotel i think, and it around the various shopping belts and patong beach.

People there are very friendly, food and entertainment are great and affordable! Booked a snorkelling trip and tickets to Phuket Fantasea one of their popular destination.

Snorkel was great since it was my first time, the views were great as we travelled via speed-boat to various islands such as Phi-phi island etc, buffet was included and several snorkelling opportunities. The fishes come right up to you and feed on the bread out of your hand! Sadly most of the corals died due to the tsunami in '04. But nevertheless, it is still a great experience, seeing the different colourful fishes in the clear blue waters. Beaches are white, waters are blue and have pretty scenaries both on land and in water..

Shopping is definitely cheaper than sg at some places, especially the night markets, as you can haggle the prices :) At night, there are stalls set up, with plenty of food choices around. Even the Mac have various different choices and cheaper than sg! Walk around and you can see plenty of foreigners drinking, bar-top dancing etc.. Took a bus and then booked a cab to another city area to shop, which was yet another experience.

Had a full body massage on the last night, near my hotel and Enjoyed myself thoroughly! Would love to go back another time, and for a longer period.

Phuket's a great beach holiday destination to consider. Easily accessible by air with so many airlines serving the route, you can get to the sunny island in under 2 hours.

The most popular and populous beach has got to be Patong, where every street is bustling with activities in both day and night. The very famous dance and night clubs are also located here, where a stroll down a stretch at night will bring many interesting sights. Beware though when you take photographs of the show girls, cos' whilst they may be smiling really warmly at you, they'll come up to you thenafter to request for a fee for taking their photos.

The beaches may not be as pretty as one might expect it to be, with rather shallow stretches of beach, the sandy bit between the road where you parked your car and the sea could be as short as 10m at certain beaches. Still, the numerous sea sports make these beaches really popular and alive with activities in the day. It's really hard to imagine the tsunami waves once crashed these shores and destroyed countless lifes and architecture...

It's great to have some form of transport so you can tour the island and not just know Phuket for Patong beach, there's certainly more to the island. Taxis can be rather costly if you're relying solely on them to bring you around all the time, so bikes or car rentals are quite highly recommended. You have to be a careful yet gutsy driver to navigate their steep slopes and numerous sharp bends though.

All in all it's a great destination for a relaxing summer holiday. I love it, I hope you will toooo! (:
