Well, I've heard so many great things about Astons that I decided to troop down to the Katong branch to check the eatery out myself. I decided to make a reservation for a table for 2 on New Year's Eve. Unfortunately, they didn't allow me to make a reservation. I'm not sure if it was because it was new year's eve or if it is their usual practice. Anyway, I wasn't put off by that because I think it's not an unusual practice for very popular eateries (that serve good food) in order not to keep other customers waiting. I got there around 7.30pm and surprisingly, the queue moved pretty fast. Perhaps, it's because I wasn't in a big group, thus it was much easier for us to get seats. I recommend that if you're going in a group of more than 3 people, it's best to go at least an hour earlier to get seats at your desired time. hahaha, yes it is! Perhaps, you could go with a smaller group to try out the food, the queuing time will be shorter as well!
