Just been to this Japanese eating place at Illuma. This was an eating outlet which consisted of several small Japanese shops housed under one roof. On the outlook, it looks pretty much the same as most other Japanese eating places. But the most fascinating in this place was not the food (thou it was nice), but rather the way one orders their food.
Each table comes with an electronic pen, which is a scanner to scan the food codes on the electronic menu. This saves much time as the waiters need only serve the food and clear the table accordingly. As I went with a group of friends, we managed to taste a variety of food. These includes the hotpan rice set, which consists of a hotpan of beansprouts, beef and salmon, coupled with miso soup and white rice. We also tasted their Maki and curry rice, as well as pork ramen and bento sets. The food was generally tasty and portions were about right. We also tasted their desserts, which were some slices of cakes. They were not sweet , but were quite average in terms of taste and looks.
Nonetheless, the pricing was fair and it is indeed a great place for groups of friends to gather for a nice meal. However, the place can be slightly small and thus it would be wise to get there early or make a booking should you have a big group going there. So do try it out and see for yourself!

The variety of food is quite reasonable, but wished that the grilled food section could be more. Nonetheless, the quality of food was reasonable and the service was prompt. As for the pricing, it was quite comparable to those at Hanabi, Hoijin and Minori (My Fav!!!).
So for those wanting to look for new places to try out Japanese food, do give it a try.

And yet the staff were busy calling the guests to confirm their reservations, with no one paying any attention to us . That was one down, two to go.
Next, instead of giving us a table, we were given counter seats, which was a bit kinda cramped as compared to the other Japanese restaurants I have been before. That was Strike two,one last one to go.
Nervertheless, we settled down and started ordering the food. And like what Polarbear had said in his review, the portions of some of the food were really a tad too little and the service was slow as well. Even though the food was tasty, it was not enough to pacify me. And that was it, Strike Three!!! I would rather choose to go back to Minori anytime than this, where the variety is more and the service is much more better as well.
So all in all, this should be the first and last time that I would be coming to this Japanese restaurant to eat.

The boss is now a friend of mine after some past "commotions" and constructive feedback few of us gave after the unsatisfying meal on my birthday last year. But I'm happy to say that they've improved! Not to the extend that it turned their entire menu around to serve restaurant standard food, but the taste, variety and quality have surely become better.
I visited this new outlet of theirs at Clementi, located at the void deck of a very long flat. About 7-9 mins walk from the Clementi MRT station. The shop is spacious and has the same color scheme as their other outlet at Newton.
As its a neighbourhood, they're also catering for the people staying around with breakfast sets. And I was told this was included in their menu after hearing feedback from their regular customers living nearby. Thumbs up for them for responding to customers request. And I believe, they really want to make their food and service good for everyone.
Food tasted that day includes Nacho Chips & Cheese, Roasted Honey Wings, Americaya, Teriyaki Chicken Chop, Brownie with Vanilla Ice-Cream, Waffle with Gelato Ice Cream, Chocolate Decadence and Oreo Milkshake.
My friend and I love the cheese. It's better than those served at one of the cinema but not as thick as we would have liked it more. But definitely the yummy cheesy taste is there.
Next favorite that day was the Roasted Honey Wings. Roasted to the right texture and the skin is slightly crisp. Marination was good too as the honey has been absorbed into the meat too.
Servings of the main dishes were appetizing and attractive. The size is good to fill up most hungry stomachs.
The late lunch ended with lots of sweetness. Both of us love the waffles and the pistachio gelato ice-cream is of good quality too. I personally love it!
Overall the experience and food has improved. Guess they should already have made the same adjustments too at their Newton outlet. Perhaps if you'd been there before and didn't like the food then, give it another try. You might enjoy it more this time round.
Passed by this shop when having my meal at Aston's Prime Ribs. from the outlook, looks tempting so decided to give it a try on the next day.
The shop sells mainly dishes in claypot, which have the prok ribs with a mixture of the pigs internal organs (house special), pure pork ribs, sesame oil chicken, pig trotters etc. Decided to order the house special and the pig trotters. Serving wise, the portions were fairly reasonable and each piece of rib was also very meaty and huge by its own.
As for the trotters, the taste was nice and fairly large piece as well.
For an XL special claypot, there were abt 9-10 pieces of the ribs whereas for the normal one, there would be abt 10-12 pieces, accoring to the waiters. Price-wise, for the former it cost $28 while the latter cost $26.
Therefore, it is quite reasonable and worthwhile to give it a try if you like Bak Koot Teh. Also, there is a private car park in front of the stall, sepcially reserved for the customers. Business there can be quite good, so it is advised to make a reservation before you head down there to avoid waiting.
Been to this small stall in the coffee shop a couple of times. Basically it serves the normal Tze Char fare such as fried bee hoon, fried rice, as well as dishes such as Shrimp Paste Chicken , Sweet and Sour Pork. Their specialty is a fried tofu, which is similar to the yam ring that we eat at wedding dinners at times. That is something that I would recommend you guys to try.
As for the service, they serve the food pretty fast without compromising on the taste of the food. Lastly, the prices are quite reasonable and is comparable to the average found in other coffeshops. You can call the number to reserve the seats as the bigger tables are quite limited if you intend to bring a fairly large group there for a meal
Breeks located at the corner of level 3 at T2 is a nice place to chill while waiting for friends to arrive or depart. >.<
Being Halal certified also means that everyone is able to enjoy the food and wide variety of desserts here.
If you're looking for powerpoint for your machines, there's only one (I think) near the entrance on the red wall.
Food here is nice and the serving size fits my tummy just fine. The chicken patty is packed with crunchy onions, and some unknown stuff which I simply ignored. I digg anything chicken and with melted cheese!
The Nutella Milkshake though could be better. The shake isn't thick enough imo.
Looking at the crowd here now, at this hour (yes I'm writing this review while I'm still here) on a Friday night, I guess it shouldn't be a problem getting a table for meal.

Came to know of this place due to a recommendation by my former boss who frequents there. Therefore decided to drop by to check it out the other day. It was situated under a block of flats( i think), next to the multi-storey carpark, making finding a parking lot less of a hassle and also shorter distance to get to the restaurant.
Basically, the restaurant was a small one with most of the seats in the open area outside the shop with only abt four tables within the air-conditioned area.
The main specialty of this place was the German pork knuckles, which normally it would be recommended to pre-order as they sell it on a limited basis daily. The pork knuckle was crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. The taste was just nice for me and not too salty.
I also tried the sausage platter, which consisted of a prok, beef and lamb ( which I changed to pork). The sausages were nice and succulent and were not too fatty, unlike some which i ate in the past.
As for dessert, I ate a tiramisu and it was not very sweet either. Overall I can say that the food is quite good and the portions are just right for either a couple or a group of friends. As for the pricing, it is quite reasonable was well. So do go down if you happen to be nearby Sunset Way
Was introduced to this place by my gf boss. So decided to bring my gf and family along to try it out. It was a normal coffee shop at the corner of Blk 5 Changi Village. The crowd then was still quite alright but as the timing got later, more guests started flowing in. Hence it would be better to reserve a table prior going down to avoid waiting for a table.
Coming to the food, it was typical Teochew porridge style with the braised stuff. We ordered a braised platter, which consisted of duck, pork belly, pork ears, eggs, tau pok,intestines. In addition, we had pre-orderd one of their signature dishes, which was braised pig intestines. This was highly recommended by my gf boss.
In addidtion, we also ordered "Tua Tao", "Gong Gong", Bean curd with Chai Po, mixed vegetables and chicken. Overall, the quality of the food was not bad but the quantity could be improved. As for the pricing, it was slightly higher than average but still with reasonable limits to me.
So if you are interested, do go down and try it for yourself.
Was told by my colleague that this places serves relatively good ala cart buffet at reasonable prices, coupled with good spread of sushi sashimi. Therefore decided to pay a vist on Xmas day itself. The place was quite decorated and the seats were quite well spread out.
My gf and I orderd a lot of stuff such as Sashimi Moriwase, California maki,Kabocha korokke(pumpkin croquette), Moyashi itame (teppanyaki beansprouts), Fukahire chawanmushi and Pumpkin chawanmushi, Tori karaage, Gyuniku shogatayaki (beef with special sauce), Nankotsu karaage (chicken cartilage), Sunagimo Shio (Chicken Gizzard), Ika Karaage (Baby Cuttlefish), Unagi Kebayaki.
I msut say that the quality of the food is definitely much better than that of Hanabi's. In addition, the spread of food is also much more in variety. The few nicer ones i like especially are Pumpkin chawanmushi, Nankotsu karaage Sunagimo Shio and of course the main dish, the Sashimi Moriwase. As for the price wise, its not much diifferent than that of Hanabi or Honjin. Therefore, I think that in future, this will likely be my 1st choice for nice Japanese ala-carte buffet. (till I find a next better one that is. haha)
Only one small disappointing is the slighly sluggish service of the waiters and waitresses. I requested for a cup and it took me three times asking 3 different people b4 I got what i want.
