We would visit this authentic Japanese buffet once awhile to satisfy our hunger pangs. The layout has changed quite abit, with the sashimi, crabs and prawns nearer to the entrance, and the kaminabe (paper steamboat) right at the back. I suggest you to reserve the seats if you are going as a group. The queue during weekends would go quite long.
Tepanyaki: Try its cream dory fish. I am very sensitive with the 'muddy' taste but this one is fresh and the meat can be removed layer by layer. Perfect to dip in wasabi sause or mayonnaise
Miso soup: I can go 2 servings for this. It isnt too salty, flavour is just right. Remember to add the seaweed and tofu by the side of the soup pot
Snow crab: A must-have in the restaurant to make your money worthed. The crab meat is sweet and juicy. We usually would go for at least 10 of those.
Beverages: Be pampered by the wide selection of drinks, from over 10 varieties of tea to the cappucino/mocha dispenser, to soft drinks and others.
The restaurant can get quite noisy as the seats are well packed. We can actually hear the conversation of the couple seating beside us. The distance between us is only a footstep apart.
One look across you can easily identify this well renovated cafe from other local kopitiams along the same stretch. They serve dim sum (ranging from $2 to $2.80 per basket) and toast. The menu is placed on the table, with the quantity stated for each item. When we submitted our order to the server, he would go through with us again to make sure everything is correct.

Ha kaw - Thin, translucent skin wrapped the crunchy fresh prawn.
Century egg porridge - generous serving for $2.50 a bowl. Creamy texture, right amount of seasoning... Suggest to share with someone else you would be too full to savour other food
Pork ribs - The meat is so soft! I could separate the meat from the bone with just my chopsticks.
Iced tea - My colleague tried it... she is a 'teh/kopi peng' expert and she gave thumbs up for this one. Thick flavoured even when the ice melted
One unique point of this cafe is, people who works there are ex-convicts. Ironically, the cafe is looking over the subordinate court, acting as a reminder to them not to go back to the old ways. This place has given them a chance to contribute to the society and being useful again.
Their service is excellent! The uncle serving us was fast and he made our luncheon a happy one. For the pocket friendly prices and good service, i would definitely patronise the place again.

Be pampered with the wide choices of the set meals ranging from $9.90 to $15.90 (if my memory is not failing). The set meal comes with a soup of the day, a main course and a scoop of ice cream. Drinks to purchase separately (no plain water served either).
I always like its Aligo Olio set, as it is the most economical on the list. As you know aligo olio is a very simple dish with juz garlic and olive oil. On the other hand a simple dish can bring out the skill of the chef. I had been there several times ordering the same thing and was not disappointed once. They use dried chilli and ground black pepper to add a little spice in the pasta. Geez, the thought of it makes me hungry.
If you see there is a long queue, you would know the food is good. Try out the Korean food stall in this foodcourt, and you will leave with a satisfactory smile.
Bibimbap - sssshiok! have fun churning the ingredients and savour the slightly spicy mixed rice
Hotplate beef w rice - Too bad the meat was not sizzling on the hotplate. The meat is well marinated, a tinge of sweet and spicy in it.
Kimchi soup w rice - prepare a pack of tissue to blow your nose. Its hot! Wide awake after this meal
meat, Meat, MEAT ! all sorts of meat... beef, mutton, chicken, pork, fish; with various styles for each kind. It aint a good idea to walk in as they may not have seats for you. We happened to pass by the VivoCity branch and decided to give it a shot... 5 of us were given a 4-seater table. Kinda cramp, but after seeing the spread at the salad bar, well, tat compensated the bad seatings.
I love greens, so i selected some leaves and my favourite black olives as my starter. Also tried the 'corn soup'... it was too sweet to my liking. There was also rice and pasta salad for ppl who need carbohydrate.
The servers would walk around the restaurant with the slab of meat. Tried all (except mutton) and my favourites were:
Beef ham - it was soooo juicy and soft! High fats content though, not for the health conceious
Chicken drumlet - honey glazed? smoke? i aint sure... but the meat was soft and tender
Pineapple - sweet! doesnt 'cut tongue', a good choice after all the meat tat went down your digestive system
We paid $40ea on a Fri night, walking out of the restaurant with bloated stomachs. A FULL-filling experience indeed
