How does one write a play? What are the guidelines and parameters one needs to consider when crafting characters and dialogue? What are the ways to convey your story in the form of a play? These and more questions will be answered by Chong Tze Chien, award-winning playwright in a demo-lecture. He will share his own personal experiences of working around his scripts as well as the local playwrighting scene. If you are an aspiring playwright or curious about dramatic writing, this might be the workshop for you! This 2-hour comprehensive demo-lecture will touch on everything one needs to know to start writing a play. Chong Tze Chien is an award-winning and published playwright/director. Some of the awards he has won include the Singapore Dramatist Award and The Straits Times Life! Theatre Awards. He also writes frequently for local television channels, as well as local films, including Gurushetram, Singapore’s first Tamil feature film,which has been sold to India and neighbouring countries. For his contributions to Singapore Theatre, he was awarded the Young Artist Award by the Singapore’s National Arts Council in 2006. He is currently the Company Director of The Finger Players, one of Singapore’s leading theatre companies.
