Description
Under the guidance of esteemed choral director, Mr Nelson Kwei, Victoria Junior College Choir has grown from strength to strength since its humble beginnings in 1985. The choir has garnered numerous awards over the years, attaining the Grand Championship Prize in the Riva del Garda Choir Competition held in Italy in 2006 as well as three High Gold Awards and two Championship titles for the Mixed Choirs category and Male Choirs category in the Venezia in Musica International Choir Competition and Festival 2010. More recently, the VJC Choir took part in the 28th International Franz Schubert Choir Competition & Festival 2012 held in Austria, Vienna, where they garnered Gold awards for all categories they competed in and were crowned champions of both the Male and Female Chorus categories. In 2011, the VJC Choir proved to be amongst the best in Singapore yet again when they garnered the prestigious Gold with Honours Award at the Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging for Choirs for the third time. A choir recognised both locally and internationally for its mastery of choral music, the VJC Choir once again presents its annual concert Symphony of Voices. This promises to be an evening of spectacular music, where the choir will showcase its musicality and versatility with a variety of songs ranging from sacred music of the Latin tradition to contemporary Asian and Western compositions.
