Description
Join Victoria Junior College Symphonic Band as they bring you a night of captivating music. Under the baton of Maestro Mr Adrian Chiang, the band will definitely make you feel extremely nostalgic with Paul Hart's Cartoon. They will also jazz it up with George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, featuring renowned, local pianist Mr Shane Thio. Eminent conductor Maestro Luk Hoi Yui will also make an appearance as a guest conductor. This is definitely not a night to be missed! Since its formation in 1984, VJC Symphonic Band has endeavoured to nurture its students' musical proficiency and to develop in them a life-long interest in music. In this spirit, the band has staged numerous public concerts over the years and has participated actively in the Singapore Youth Festival, winning Gold and Gold with Honours awards. Always seeking to enrich its students' music experience, the band also travels overseas to perform in adjudicated music festivals, such as the New York Band & Orchestra Festival. The band enjoyed the rare privilege of performing in the Isaac Stern Auditorium of the world-renowned Carnegie Hall and staged a sterling performance, winning both a Gold Medal and a standing ovation.
