Description
SYNOPSIS Acclaimed as “one of the most exciting orchestras anywhere” by the San Francisco Chronicle, the Asian Youth Orchestra will return to Singapore for two concerts on 13th and 14th August as part of a 9-city/15-concert Tour across Southeast Asia and East Asia. Repertoire for the Tour will include Brahms Symphony No. 3, Beethoven Symphony No. 5, Sibelius Symphony No. 2 and Weber Der Freischutz Overture under the baton of Richard Pontzious and James Judd. Joining the Orchestra for the Tour and performing Haydn’s Cello concerto in C and Dvorak’s Cello concerto in b minor will be renowned British cellist Steven Isserlis. The 98 members of the Asian Youth Orchestra (AYO) are selected from among the finest young musicians in mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
