Description
"Death of a Salesman" is a stageplay, a highly esteemed Classic written by late Arthur Miller, that was first directed by Elia Kazan in 1949, 10 Feb at Morosco Theatre, New York City. The play won Miller - Putlizer Prize in Drama, and has continued to be staged, filmed and studied in colleges and universities internationally.
Willy is a simple salesman who has passed his prime but is still working around Singapore, trying to keep his job and dignity. His beloved son Biff, pays a visit to his parents, and finds his father unacceptable, besieged with depression, suicidal tendencies and haunts from his past. Linda, wife, embraces Willy for who he is and honors the tradition of making family sacrifices. After being abandoned by his two sons, Biff and Happy, at a bar, Willy finally succeeded in taking his own life.
The play shall be transplanted into Singapore context to depict the rapid transition and its impact on our community mental well being in general.

Willy 是一名普通的推销员,年过六旬仍在纽约市驱车上班,只为保存仅剩的饭碗和尊严。挚爱的大儿子Biff 回家探访家人,却和父亲格格不入。现在的父亲载负过去的恶魇,患上忧郁症还有自杀的倾向。 妻子 Linda 却包容Willy 的一切,依然敬重曾经为家庭付出所有的先生。 最后在酒吧被两个儿子抛弃后,Willy 终于成功地结束自己的生命。
此翻译剧本获准以南洋式版公演 - 展现新加坡人在急速城市变化下,每况愈下的精神健康状态。
