Description
This Silver Ring Workshop with Yuki Mitsuyasu will teach you everything you need to know about how to fabricate a ring from a strip of 925 silver using traditional silversmithing methods.
Participants will be making a ring from scratch while picking up techniques including bending a strip of silver, soldering, filing and buffing.
Each participant will be given a silver strip which will then be cut according to the participant's ring size. Some cut out details can be added as a design feature.
The strip is then hammered, the joint where each end meet is soldered using a hand torch, and then filed and polished using a hand buff motor.
This basic metal-smithing technique is extremely versatile - it can be applied to make any shape of jewellery or other metal objects should participants decide to further explore jewellery making on their own.
Recommended for beginners.
At the end of the four hour session, participants will take home with them the simple silver band ring which has been created by themselves.
Couples are welcome to participate together to make each other original rings. All tools and materials will be provided.
We will provide refreshments during the break; refreshments and summer beverage is included in course fee.
