Dr Liau is an accredited general surgeon with speciality expertise in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of hepatobiliary and pancreatic disorders especially in surgical oncology and management of patients with these complex cancers. Dr Liau believes that life as a surgeon give him the daily opportunity to witness the triumph and tragedy of life. As he provides comfort, medical advice, treatment and surgery to his patients, he finds strength, fulfillment and reassurance in his work. Trained in Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre in New York City, USA, Dr Liau brings with him an acute perception and systematic approach to problem solving and operative techniques. Being part of a global collaborative hepato-pancreato-biliary professional community, it facilitates Dr Liau in providing evidence-based approach to cancer treatment. Dr Liau is commonly is a professional, confident and efficient surgeon who has a proven ability to work independently as well as in a team. Dr Liau was the recipient of the 2008 and 2009 Star Excellent Service Awards. In 2009, the Singapore Public Service honoured Dr Liau with PS21 Star Service Award for having gone beyond the call of duty to deliver excellent service to his patients. In recognition to his service to Emirate patients, he was also presented with the Embassy of United Arab Emirates Medal.
