I frequent Alishan Restaurant rather often, because i think they really offer a variety of choices. Prices are a little higher as compared to other shops but definitely worth the price! Importantly, the food are always fresh and served hot!
The sweet potato porridge is a must try dish! Unlike other normal plain porridge that we eat in coffee shop, the ones offered by Alishan Restaurant is something really different.
They used to offer and provide buffet catering, but its quite sad that they don't provide such services anymore.
During dinner time, its always packed with people. Whenever I visit the place, i will park just one road down, after the selegie beancurd and walk over.

Thr porridge here is one of the best i must say. Normally, I will patronise it for supper.
The atmosphere is those of shophouse traditional kopitiam style. Very much like those eateries at Geylang.
Food wise, the sweet potato porridge is a must try. I like how the sweet potato is cooked until soft. Other than that, all the dishes are alright. Typical comfort food to go with porridge.
Prices wise, it is a bit high. My parents once paid around $20 for just 2 of them. I would think that it is a bit overpriced.
In terms of parking, if you are lucky, you can get a roadside slot. If not, just drive a bit further down and there is a small carpark to the left just before the main junction. It is just after Maybank.

This used to my family's favorite place for dinner or supper. For me, I can eat it everyday and will never get tired of it!
Alishan serves delicious Taiwan porridge and the wide variety of dishes just make eating porridge so much more delicious and satisfying. There are 2 types of porridge for selection, the normal plain one and the sweet potato porridge. Both at the same price - just 50cents. And the dishes price ranges from $1.50 to $12 each.
My usual order includes the steamed sotong and the chai poh egg. The steamed sotong is chewy and fresh. Dipped it into the accompanying sweet sauce and eat it together with a spoonful of porridge. Simply divine! (Just the thought of it makes my mouth water! And I'm craving for it now!)
And then there's the Chai Poh Egg. Just look at the size of the egg! It comes like a huge and thick pancake filled with chai poh and spring onion. The outside is slightly crispy and the inside is soft. Every bite of the egg gives you the crunch from the chai poh. Loveeee it!
With so many dishes for you to choose from, one bowl of porridge is never enough! My record was 4 bowls of piping hot sweet potato porridge. Can you beat that? Heee.
