I visited the Bistro Delifrance outlet at Jurong Point for the $7.90 set lunch.

Personally I won't dine there if it wasn't for the set lunch, as I think most of the items are rather pricey, except for the pastry.

Anyway, so far I tried the "Grilled Chicken with Mushroom Sauce" & " Creamy Mushroom Spaghetti". Both items were nice, in moderate portions.

The Soup was Minestrone. But I thought it was too watery, would have been better if it was creamier like those in Jack's Place. The original price was $4.50, a real rip-off if you ask me.

The dessert was a small slice of cake.

On the whole, it was worth it with 4 items in small & moderate portions. And the main course is usually delicious.

having passed this branch quite often, me and my gf decided to try it 1 day.. friday dinner in exact.

Firstly the place. This branch is in the middle of the basement and not those typical at-the-side restaurant. It is open air and in fact, just beside the escalator. You can't missed it. But the disadvantage is... there are flies flying around!! ok.. not like army of flies.. Just 1 or 2. Can't be help i guessed cause it is openair...

Food wise, we took the 11.90 set meals which are available after 1130pm on weekdays. There are also 7.90 set meals. Very affordable i must say. It consists of main, salad or soup and coffee or tea.

I ordered steak *** chicken grilled while my gf got the fish fillet or something. Something i noticed.. the fish was not very cooked and tasted fishy. The steak and chicken set was better. The cheese baked potatoes in the main accompanying the meat were very nice! Portion was big too.

After which, we ate creme bulee or something lidat. It is a traditional french dessert ($5.50) This is very good. A definitely must-try. It consist of hot melted caramel on cold custard below it. Simply perfect. Quite different from those usual icecream waffle gimmick.

Service wise, it was ok. Though must keep reminding them to refill my water.

Overall, I must say.. go another branch which is not so open air. Do not try the fish dishes but the other dishes and must try the dessert~

The cheapskate in me gave a happy leap the first time I spotted the $1 sign prominently on one of the trays.

A closer look confirmed my suspicions- the features item displayed in the bakery corner is on offer at a mere $1!

Past experiences in eating the puffs always left me feeling full after one. This time it too didnt disappoint, the tuna puff was just as buttery, fluffy and everything a puff should be. However, sometimes the puff is just too oily and buttered for my liking and its leaves an unglamourous ring of oil around my mouth. Sighs. Definately not the choice for quick bites before meetings!

The chocolate brownie tastes like the one served at Swensens, served warm and slightly crumbly. The chocolate flavour was distinct and overall, sastifying my sweet tooth. The vanilla ice cream was just tad better than those that comes in a tub, but complemented the brownie well.

Delifrance is an all round familiar name which can probably be found in every major department store in Singapore. It begun in 1985 as a cafe officially and prior to that, have been distributing dough-made items to hotels since 1983. It brand owner actually heralds from France under the company name of Grand Moulins de Paris (GMP), which have been in the business since early 1900. With such a diverse and sound pedigree, its only right that Delifrance serves good food right?

For a cafe that was and still is priced at a premium, the restaurant really isn't much to look at. If you ask me, the only thing i've ever enjoyed from Delifrance was its mayo chicken or crab with croissants. And that was a pretty long time ago when the items were going for less then $6. Prices have skyrocketed since then however, and Delifrance is now known as Bistro Delifrance which supposedly offers better service and gourmet food.

Caesars Salad ($7.95) - In 2 words? Rip off. A small amount of lettuce with some crumbs and fake bacon pieces with thousand island sauce. It wasn't even fresh to begin with and the service was terrible to say the least. Is this just a bad start or was the visit doomed before it began?

Beef And Fish Combo ($19.90) - This is a rather self explanatory dish. Beef, egg, potato wedges and fish in bread crumbs. And somehow, they managed to make a perfectly simple dish perfectly bad. The wedges were (drum roll) cold in the middle, which means they did not thaw it enough and it wasn't fried well. The beef came well done which meant it was rubbery and required a chainsaw to get through. What really dissed me was that the service staff didn't even ask if i wanted the beef done in any way. The fish was also equally badly done, with a strong fishy taste and also inadequately thawed. The only thing they did not screw up was the egg but then again, i'm sure i can do a better job even with that one.

Choc Fondant ($5.50) - This was not my dessert. I specifically ordered a molten chocolate cake but was given the chocolate fondant instead. However, i did not bother to argue because, i've already waited 20 minutes after my meal for them to serve the dessert after repeated reminders and they still got it wrong. Honestly, Wall's ice cream with warm chocolate cake. Why would anyone bother paying $5 for it when its so easy to just make it ourselves?

An unsatisfying, terribly serviced and bad meal cost me $33.20 after discount. Thats $33.20 too much to pay for such a terrible experience.

What went wrong? I remembered a Delifrance where we had to self serve that gave much better food and service overall. Maybe the waitress was having a bad day but i didn't pay to see her unhappy face from problems i never want to know. Service aside, i never knew the food could be that bad. I'm utterly shocked at the quality of food i got and honestly, coming back is not something that will cross my mind for many years to come.

Went to have dinner at this outlet this evening. Sadly, we went home w/o any food... just liquid...

            Here's the story why....
We placed our order with the waitress - lobster bisque, prawn salad and bread pudding for dessert. (The bread pudding was our reason for being there.)

After checking with the kitchen, the waitress came back to inform us that the bread pudding was sold out. Disappointed, but we decided to stay for the soup and the salad.

Our table, no. 13, was next to the kitchen and we have see every order that came out. There were a couple of orders before us (all main courses) so it took quite a while for our simple soup to arrive. (45 mins to be exact. cos we were in a rush so I was eyeing my watch the entire wait.)

We drank our soup and thought our salad will come soon... however, after 10 mins, we still didn't see anything served. Then the waitress came and asked if we can change our order cause the kitchen ran out of prawns!!! WHAT?!?!?! After so long than they realised they've ran out of prawns??? We were very upset. We told her to cancel our order. When I asked for a pen from the waitress to fill up the customers feedback form, than the manager started to panic. He checked with the kitchen, and they started searching for prawns around the kitchen!

Well, it's either the kitchen staff were lazy or they didn't bother to check, cos the manager came back while I'm already 2/3 through writing my feedback on the form, saying that the can serve the prawn salad if we still want it as they've found prawns in their kitchen store!... funny isn't it?
