I was recommended by my friend who said that the fish and chips they serve are quite nice and of reasonable price.
When the food is served, I am quite surprise that they come in large portions, given that the price is considered not to be very expensive. The fish and chips are quite nice.(:
My friend ordered the spaghetti too and it was average.
The food includes a set with drinks.
My friends and I are really full when we finished our portions and we felt it was quite worth it.
Looks like we have consensus (almost) about this place.
Picked this place for early dinner after strolling around in Vivo, and the menu looked interesting enough. Bad choice.
We ordered the belgium mussels in wine, which is supposed to be their speciality, but its anything but. I expected fresh plump mussels soaked simmered in flavourful stock but nope, I got smallish shellfish which tasted like it was plonked into the pot last minute as they were just ultra bland. No hint of white wine. At all.
And yup, the seaweed was there!! Ugh.
We also had the carbonara and onion rings, which were really medicore at most. Don't really rememeber the service because of the food.
Better off at foodcourt really. DONT come here. I was extremly dissatisfied and had to adjourn elsewhere for 2nd round.
set lunches go for $10.90, $13.90 and $15.90, comes with the usual soup and coffee.
the mussel guys always do fish wonderfully, so i ordered the pan-grilled dory fish with aromatic rice. well, butter rice essentially. it came with GORGEOUS buttter sauce, which made the entire dish perfect.
the lamb-and-dory dish (same dory) was good too, the lamb decently done with nice accompanying mint sauce.
soup was the usual mushroom soup, with a fragrant, soft piece of garlic bread which i rather liked.
service was good, with friendly filipino waitstaff (im biased toward filipino waitstaff, but i think its completely justified) clearing our plates and..somehow each course came at PERFECT timings. a bit freaky but much appreciated (:
lastly, the view of the place is fantastic. really nice for a long lunchtime chat with friends.
My family and I were at this restaurant about a month ago. We did enjoy the fresh tasting mussels but we were deeply disappointed with their service. The restaurant was only half-filled that night.
Our children's meals came within 15 minutes but the mussels we ordered came after an hour. We were then told that the order went "missing" thus the delay. (I wonder how its so when the kids orders came through.)
We waited another 20 minutes and our main course never arrived albeit 2 reminders so we cancelled it. The waiting made us lose our appetite and the kids had already taken their dinner.
No apologies whatsoever from the manager when we left. I don't think I will want to go there again.
Yar Claud is right.. The mussels are good.. But i love the fresh oysters the best... I wonder if they still serve that... The last i've been there they say no stock... Oysters all die coz Oil Spill.. heehee I just made that up!!!! The oysters are so value for money, if i'm not wrong its like $10 or $12 for half a dozen and boy the Oysters are HUGE.... Very fresh and good...... drizzzle some TOBASCO sauce. lagi SHIOKA DOO DOO.......
The baked mussels is very nice also. I like the baked stuffs just not the deep fried stuffs.. I got a body to maintain ok.... Though not much left.. but still......
Other then that.. this place is nice because its one of the least crowded restaurant usually...
Gosh.... Where does all these shoppers come from man.. Its crowded in Orchard Road, Suntec City, All the other Heartland Malls...... and now VIVO CITY.. Gosh........
Please Bring back the oysters....................................
After a whole day at VivoCity, it was time for dinner, and as expected, everywhere was packed with hungry people. And finally settled at The Mussel Guys as there wasn't any queue! But no queue doesn't been no good food.
The place was packed inside with people talking and children crying. Not quite the place to go for a romantic Xmas dinner. Can pass as a clean and comfortable place for friends to gather and enjoy fresh mussels.
We ordered Sauteed Mushrooms, Steamed Mussels (350g), Sausage Pasta and drinks.
The Sauteed Mushrooms, $4.50, was value for money. Serving was quite big for the price and the taste was just right. But if the mushrooms were not sliced that thinly, the taste would have been better.
Steamed Mussels, $15.90, with white wine and garlic arrived in their mussel pot, which you can purchase home at $180 . The mussels were fresh and there wasn't any fishy taste. At first we wanted to order the creamy or tomato base mussels as we were afraid that it'll taste fishy. But it didn't. Fresh and some were almost crunchy when bitten into. The white wine and garlic blended well with the mussels. I wouldn't say the taste was fantastics as I'd better ones before. But with the price, its still considered value for money.
I shan't comment much on the chicken Sausage Pasta, $12.90. I'll not order this again. It's not even average imo. Pay slightly more for another pot of mussels!
I'll go back there if I crave for mussels. Its value for money.

My family and I were at the restaurant on 16 Feb
We sat at the balcony - the view was fantastic!!
We had the set meal of seafood spaghetti
The food was good and was value for money
But one disappointment was the waiter who served us was not trained.
When asked what was the dessert of the day was . His reply was "some random cakes"
We were quite wishful and asked "you mean we can choose whatever in the cake rack?"
He was quite stunned and decided to check with his senior
He came back with a reply that it was strawberry cheesecake
We would expect the restaurant manager or supervisor to brief the staff before business for the day commences
