A friend recommended me to this place so i just gave it a try. For a chendol store, it is a little oversize and it may explain why the price is a little on the high side. When i say high, i am referring to what it has to offer. A bowl of chendol with green jelly and (quite little) red bean is $2.70 and a cup of chengdol with green jelly without red bean is $2.20. That is all you have for the ingredient. The consolation is that it doesnt taste too sweet and the red bean is quite tasty. Of course the red bean is too little and you can always have additional topping for $0.50 but that will make it even more expensive.

There are many varieties to choose from. The durian smooties is quite nice but it taste a little like durian mix with soyabean or fresh milk.

Another friend was comparing it with changi point chendol which i have yet to try. I hope to see more generous ingredient for the chendol.

I didn't know about this car accessories mart until lately when I was searching for a video camera for my car. When I came to this place, I was a little confused because all I see is a car park and a tyre store. Although there are many signboard showing Autobacs company name but I just didn't know where is the main entrance to purchase the camera.

Finally I found the lift that lead to the mart. My first impression was 'big' for a car accessory shop. And it catches my eyes that they also provide car servicing and repairs. The servicing area is big and tidy. Since my car is old so it doesn't make sense for me to go back to the agent, I find this a good place for me to send my car for normal servicing because the price for the service is stated clearly and I don't have to make appointment at all.

I found this place has a large collection of car accessories, engine oil, tyres, camera etc. The people are also quite friendly. I bought a camera and a car seat cover. The salesman offer to carry the goods to my car and fit the seat cover for me. The seat cover was too big and he offer to refund the money to me automatically.

I came here the second time to do my routine service. Last week I came again to repair my car for a engine 'limping' problem. Unfortunately, we mis-communicated and they diagnose wrongly with a wrong problem. It was not their fault, because they saw the fault indicator but that was not my priority. In the end they replace back my old parts and refund fully for what they have charged.

I really appreciate their friendliness and politeness. They do not argue with customers for the mistake made.

If you are looking for car accessories or normal routine servicing, this might be a good place for you to pay a visit.

Although my car is due for scrap in a year's time, I thought I can make full use of it remaining life. But there are many problems forcing me to look into an early replacement. I tolerated the heat due to air-con leakage, I give it a hard hit before the window can be wound, I use my hand-phone light because all internal lights are off could be due to fuse blow, I top up motor oil every month because of the leak, I am doing all this just to buy time for a replacement because it takes time for car delivery. Unforetunately, just when I was sourcing for a car, my engine suddenly malfunction and turn into a limp mode which means the car cannot travel more than 50kmh. Can you imagine people horn at me on the road.

I sent my car to a regular service company and they diagnose wrongly and quoted me quite a big sum of money to repair. Luckily, I was introduced to this workshop. The owner name Is 'Cashin'. What a smart name. He did a diagnose for me for the entire car and surprisingly he can repair all the fault within a reasonable sum.
What I like about it is his confidence. He can tell me all the faults and the solution on the spot together with the charges. Most other car service workshop will tell me the charges after they done the service which will normally ended up quite a high fee.

Cashin did a good job for me to solve my car 'limping' problem for as low as $485 by changing a 'valvetronic motor and gasket' and he even top up the air-con gas for me FOC. Now no one will horn at me on the road.

I will strongly recommend him to all my friends because of his experience in Performance motor previously.

If you are thinking of installing an awning, be sure to engage the right supplier.

Have engaged this company to install awning for me. I was shocked that the awning is so noisy when they row-in and out. The salesman told me all cassette awning are the same so I have to accept it since it is already installed.

Next, I can only turn on the motor 1 or 2 times to row-in/out. The motor will not work after the 3rd attempt. The installer told me I need to let the motor rest after every row in/out operation. I accepted it reluctantly.

Last but not least, the water drip onto my neighbour's car porch. This is a very small issue as they can simply adjust the screw to fine tune the level of the awning, but it took them more than a month to settle it.

It is so difficult to get the message across and the sales person is
always in the meeting ( not sure true or not ). In the end, I have to convey the message via SMS.

The problem lies in the attitude of the staffs and the management. The supervisor did not educate and impart the right concept to the foreign workers who come from a different environment. The anagement did not enforce the service standard to the sales staff to value each and every customer. This industry may not face any difficulty because they are still in boom town, if the attitude did not improve, they will face big problem when time is bad. Meanwhile, we as a consumer just have to look for more sources before committing a purchase.

    Helmet Helmet says:

I passed by this optical shop near a hawker centre. Since I have always wanted to make a pair of reading glass and it is not an expensive item, I thought I might as well get it done.

After expressing my concern, the shop owner pursuaded me to make a pair of 'office wear' lenses. This is a good recommendation as I never know such product existed. The optician explained that 'office wear' lenses allow user to see things within 5 meters. She assured that I can read, see computer screen, watch TV and attend meetings without removing the glasses. It sounded ideal, so I went ahead to place an order. I was quite excited and could not wait for the glasses to be ready.

When I collected and tried the glasses, it does not seem to be able to do as what was claimed by the optician. I was only able to read and not see anything further than that. However, she was kind enough to re-test my eyesight and re-do the lenses again. Unfortunately, the same thing happened again for the next 3 replacement. I was not happy but didnt voice out my anger as I thought it might be due to my own eyesight problem. According to the optician, I have mono-eye and that could be the reason why 'office wear' may not suit me. I have no choice but to abandon the idea and changed it to a normal progressive lenses which I already owned. I was hoping that the new pair of glasses could be of some improvement so that I could replace the old ones.

I did not made it known my unhappiness as their service was relatively good. I also can't doubt their capability because the shop has been there for many years and she kept saying that most people have no problem except me. My only regret was that I did not cancel my order when she cannot deliver what was originally promised. On the other hand, I also doubt I can cancel because she has already collected the full amount before the glasses is made. At the same time I also felt bad as she has also wasted 3 pairs of lenses.

So, at the end of this whole episode, I am poorer by $500 for an unknown lenses and I am still having the reading problem.

After my experience with She Lee Optics, I concluded that I am not suitable to use 'office wear' lenses until I met Stella of Universal Optical.

I explained to her my bad experience and she told me that there was no reason why it does not work for me especially my prescription was not very high. She assured me that it can be done. So I visited her shop at Tampines to have my eyesight tested again. Unlike other optical shops, their eye test was much faster and accurate with the help of better equipment.

When asked to choose a frame, I actually wanted to use my old frame just in case it failed again. After much convincing, I finally decided to select a new frame. When I left the shop, I do not have high expectation that it can be done and was also mentally prepared to face the same old problem as before.

After a week, I was told that my glasses was ready for collection. I went there without high hope and expected that it will be blur and giddy.

When I first tried the glasses, I was very careful not to see far as I know that it will defintely be not clear at all and that will put me off. So I started looking at the reading distance and slowly tried to look further. To my suprise, I was able to read at a normal reading distance and also at the surroundings comfortably.

I wondered whether there was any relation between the new HOYA lenses with the previous unknown brand. Anyway, I was happy that I am able to read documents and the computer screen without having to adjust my glasses now.

For those office workers who have to use reading glasses, it is time to try out this 'office wear' lenses.

I stayed in this hotel for six night in oct 2011. If you are on a free and easy holiday, I strongly recommend this hotel. The location of this hotel is superb. It is surrounded by shops, shopping malls and eating places. After a day tour, you can come back to hotel for a bath and take a walk to the nearby eating place for dinner or window shop in the same building. For me, I like to walk to Zhong San road where I can enjoy the night atmosphere and do some window-shopping. It is similar to our orchard road surrounded by many shops. The road is closed for traffic at night. There are many youngster selling things on the road late at night.

The hotel is within a shopping mall. The lobby is at the ground floor but is not very grand looking. The front desk staffs are quite friendly though. There are many entrances to this hotel. The standard rooms are sizeable and comfortable. You can still add in a bed ( RMB 120 ) if required. The hotel room and its corridor are considered nice with full carpet.

The only setback for this hotel ( to me ) is the breadfast. I purposely look for hotel where breadfast is included so that I don't need to waste time looking for makan in the morning. But it seems that I was wrong. The western style breadfast is totally not acceptable. The american breadfast is the most basic of all but also fail. The orange juice taste like plain water ( may be a little exaggerated ). The bacon is funny. The eggs are not well fried. The coffee is good but they take a long time to refill. same goes for the butter. They should be more observant and make sure there is constant supply at all time. Other than american breadfast, all other food are not suitable to me, such as noodle, spaghetti ( looks like aglio olio but taste horrible and cold ), fried rice, vegetable etc. You don't miss anything if BF not included.

Other than BF, everything is good for the price you pay. less than RMB500 a night in oct. I find it cheap but my relative told me they ( under corporate a/c ) can get it even cheaper.

I was looking for a suitable camera bag and I saw this shop having a wide range from Lowepro, Thinktank, Kata etc.

It is not easy to make a decision for the right bag. You need to consider whether it is enough for all your future needs, how many lenses and accessories etc. I believe I have visited this shop for more than 4 times. I felt bad initially but they leave me alone. One guy even tell me to take my time to select the right one. After the forth visit, I finally bought a bag and a speedlite from them.

Price for the bags are very reasonable. Speedlite is cheap ( Canon EX580II at $680 ) compare to others. But their lenses are not as cheap, need to know the price before you buy one.

I visited this stall 2 times within a month. The first time I visited this place because I saw a long queue. The second time was because my son came back from overseas and he wanted to take some local food.

The first time was OK for me but I don't see anything special about the food. The queue was long but the serving was relatively fast. It takes about 15 mins for 15-20 person.

The second time I visited this stall is also my last visit to this place. I have no complain about their service because there is no service required at all.
But I feel that the food is slighly over priced. A plate of nasi lemak can easily cost more than $5. The chicken wing is huge but not cooked ( it happen on both my visit ). The rice is normal and so do all other dishes. The only thing that is nice perhaps is the chilli.

I don't think it is worth queueing and I don't think I will visit this stall again.
