Of all the McDonald's I must talk about this one..... Our childhood memories, our pride, the Kallang Stadium. Eventhough it is now under Renovation, but the McDonald nearby there is still filled with people all the time. The food taste the same everywhere and the fries and sundae seemed ancient to me.. but this outlet has got plenty of power sockets for you to power up the devices especially your Lappy...
What good does it do when you have wireless internet without power sockets?
With this, many can study there, do their homework, do presentations to their customers and other business or sales persons can function from there. It is indeed a fabulous place to work in.. and what more.. there are PLENTY of FREE PARKING all over this outlet..... Food is priced at the same amount but it is more functional here... The location is out of town but not far away from town... Really a perfect place for corporate employees.
There is also an indoor play ground for your kids to play... A perfect place for the family. Can you imagine your Hubby reading the papers, you reading your online magazine on your lappy and your kids having a great time in the playground.. perfect for a non working day.....
Love Japanese Fastfood? Then you must come to MOS BURGER.. EVERYTHING is nice.... I wonder why....
I love burgers but with a tinge of japanese seasoning in them, I love it more.... Ever since i came across MOS Burger when I was a little girl Many many years ago, I was so intrigued that i spent the rest of my week having MOS Burger's Burgers for the rest of the week.
The Burgers, each nicely wrapped with soft and juicy fillings are simply irrisistable. My favourite is the MOS CHEESE BuRGer.... I love the many chopped onion soaked in delectable sauce and the OH Sooo... Yummy Myo....
My Dad and Bro loves the rice burgers. be it chicken or beef. They love the thinly sliced juicy beef cooked to perfection.... The Fries are normal but do ask for that extra sinful Myo... it sure goes well with the fries...
The corn soup is also very very nice especially with a huge dose of pepper. Not forgetting with the japanese salad with the refreshing sauce.
The next thing i loved most is the ICE MILK TEA... really creamy creamer they use.....
If you love ice cream or MILK SHAKES.. you must try their COFFEE SHAKE... its fabulously...... YUMMY... so creamy with a thick coffee flavour.
To see a hawker centre right in the middle of the holland village may seems abit out of the place. Well, perhaps only to me, i always feel that holland village is the place where all the pubs and bars are located and not a hawker centre?
This hawker centre seems rather small to me. Small in the sense as there are approximately less than 20 food stalls available there. (did not go and count the number of food stores one by one thou, just did a rough estimation on this) Thou small, you can find most of the singaporean style of food there.
Orignal hakka is one of the singaporean style of food. Can you guess what is the orginal hakka selling? Yes, they are selling non other than the yong tau fu. The word 'hakka' is probably used as yong tau fu is invented by the hakka people.
Managed by a team consisting of a man and a woman (probably husband and wife). They have delegate their jobs rather efficiently, i can say, with one handling the cooking and the other collecting the money. Thats probably why its pretty rare to see a long queue at their store thou they never lack of patronizing customer. I pretty like the fast queue as it means i can get to eat my food fast. hahahahah.
The varieties of the ingredients is not alot, however you will be able to find those normal stuff there like the nor hiang (meat stuffed in beancurb skin, beancurb, 4 different types of vegetables, won ton, tau pok (minced fish stuff in beancurb), etc...
Tried their soup based yong tau fu. The most determinant factor of yong tau fu is definitely their soup. I can say orignal hakka soup never fail me. Their soup has probably been brewed with lots of ingredients (definitely have put in yellow beans) for a very long time in order to achieve the very sweet taste. I love it.
The bee hoon, usually the most forgetten piece of ingredients tastes good. No soggy soggy kind of bee hoon, instead you can taste a extremely light and slight crispness in their bee hoon.
Last but not least, i loved their nor hiang. These nor hiang are stuffed and filling up fully with chicken meat. Yes, its chicken meat, often you will see those stuff with pork instead. Special right?
With rows and stacks of candy all around the store, Candy Empire truly lives up to its name.
With so many types of candy, chocolates etc available, one would definitely be loss for choice. I had their big Willy Wonka's Caramel Chocolate bar for $6.40 once, and it was deifinitely worth every cent for it, as the chocolate was really thick and chocolatey (duh~).
However, I felt that some candies were a little pricey for me, even though I'm aware that they were imported from overseas. Hmm. Some of them just made me feel that, it just didn't make much sense to pay that much for candies.
Neverthelss, stepping into Candy Empire would truly make anyone with a sweet tooth swoon with happiness! :)
Walking past Shan Katong Laksa during lunch time, you'll bound to be attracted by the number of people eating there.
Being human, won't you wonder why people are crowding in that little shop for their lunch when Holland V is filled with other delicious food?
Shan Katong Laksa sells both Nasi Lemak and Katong laksa, 2 of the more popular food found in Singapore. The shop is non-airconditioned, but crowds of people are still flocking there during lunch time. Why?
My friends and I decided to join the crowd on 2 occasions, to find out what is exactly the attractive factor in this little shop hidden in Holland V. I managed to try both the laksa and the nasi lemak respectively and..to my disappointment, the quality of the food wasn't as good as I expected it to be.
For the nasi lemak, well..the rice was indeed quite fragrant and there were many selections of dishes to pick from. However, due to the hectic business around there, the aunties serving the food wasn't very friendly, and the portions given wasn't very reasonable.
However, the chicken wings were well fried and tasty. Some people even went there to just buy the chicken wings as small snacks, back to their offices! Oh, the staff also took the initiative to cut up the chicken wings etc, so that it's more convienient to eat with your fork and spoons.
As for their laksa, though it's eaten with a spoon like the authentic katong laksa, it didn't taste that fantastic..
Overall I think that the food is just mediocre, and..there's really no necessity to squeeze in with the people for the food I guess~
Ready for a FEAST..... Then you must come to HOOTERS.... I am not just referring to a feast of food, but also an eye feasting.
Whenever i walk pass HOOTERS.... It is not the food that attracted me, but the OWLs? Thats when OWLS have sexy tight butts in that OH SO SEXY HOT PANTS... n that so tight teeney weenie T-Shirt.....
HUSH HUSH..... I am an all Man girl and i LOVE MEN.... But I enjoy appreciating beautiful things, especially that of my fellow Sex....
So one day, Me and my friends decided to go for the HOOTERS EXPERIENCE and boy.... I just can't stop the boys from drooling all the time.... The food was OK... American style.... but the girls were so distracting.... Or perhaps i should say the boys were irritating.... They kept asking for more attention, requesting for this and that and ordered alot of snack and beers.... and subsequently asking the ladies for their contact numbers.. you know the USUAL.... They are exactly like the OWL, stalking at the waitresses walking here and there... at the same time acting indifferent.
The beer and the snacks is good... Then again.. the beer is always good... The chicky WINGS are fabulous... well marinated, crunchy and juicy...
But i am really impressed with the service of the waitresses. They are very friendly and nice, and they know how to reject you gently while providing alternatives at times.
For the Fun and the Good Services... Now i know why OWLs have got BIG EYEs........
Cheap and good is what I call this Chicken Rice Stall.
It was love at first sight! Ever since I took my first mouthful of the rice and chicken with their chilli, I knew immediately that this is what I'll be having for a long long time.
As a fan of chicken rice (I don't take char siew or any food with pork/lard) I give this stall 4 out of 5 thumbs up. I'll order their set everytime I have it. Paying just $3.50 for a plate of boneless chicken, vegetables, rice and soup. Where can you find such a cheap chicken rice meal? I remember paying $5.50 to $6 for a set exactly the same at Food Courts.
The meat is served with cucumber, a slice of tomato and few pieces of archar. Texture of meat is just right and it isn't too oily. The chilli is good too. Trust me. Cos I'm a chilli freak! LOL!
Ayurvedic Salon is a little shop situated at Katong Shopping Centre. It's on the outside facing the main road. Near the Zhi Cha stalls.
I chanced upon this shop last week and was greeted by a sweet Indian lady. She's the only one in the shop but she doesn't speak much English. She's very polite though and not pushy at all.
She did eyebrow threading and upper lip threading on me. It wasn't very painful and she was patient and very thorough. I paid about $11 for both which is reasonable.
I think the best part was that I didn't have any pimples or whiteheads after the threading. It sometimes happens when I go to other places (more expensive places) so I think I'm really satisfied with her service and would definitely visit her regularly.
She also has traditional hair treatment, henna and facial treatments. Quite interesting really. But as it's a one-man outfit you'd have to call the number to make sure she's open before you go! :)
**Update**
I was just there again today. In fact I have been to this place regularly for the past few months. I like the service here and they are not pushy about their services and products which I find such a relief.
I had my usual threading done then I had a head-shoulder massage for my aching neck. It was great! My head feels so much lighter. while doing the massage, Pooja even suggested some things I can do at home to improve the condition of my hair, without trying to sell me anything at all. Isn't that really rare? Do check them out!
Central is a cafe chain with outlets at Vivo, Tampines and Ngee Ann City... And this one in the basement of Parkway Parade.
Today is not my first time there.. it should be the 3rd trip already. I can't remember what I ordered during the first two trips but it was just ok. A tad expensive if you consider its price... but this time..
Food ordered
Chicken Chop Noodle Dry
Chicken Chop Cheese Baked Rice
Guess we were in the mood for chicken chop. The outlet was relatively crowded for a weekday evening. But we were tend to quickly and had our orders taken. The food took just a short while to arrive which was good since we were really hungry.
The Chicken Chop Dry Noodle was the really thin noodles (which I like) with some vegetables and two pieces of chicken chop. I like the sauce which was not too salty and the noodles. But the chicken was quite fatty and I couldn't bear to eat about 1/5 of it due to that reason. The soup served with the noodles was great. I finished it, which was rare for me.
The Chicken Chop Cheese Baked Rice had more pieces of chicken in it with tomato and was well covered with cheese. The Cheese had hardened a little by the time it arrived but it was still warm. A tad salty for my taste but my companion thought it to be fine. The chicken bits in this dish were less fatty and more palatable.
This time, it cost us $17. Once in a while would be alright.
The Mind Cafe - A one stop fun place for gatherings and spending quality time with your friends!
Stepping into The Mind Cafe, you'll find that though the place feels small, it has a homey feeling making you feel comfortable and relaxed. There are sofa seats on the left side, often reserved for big groups of customers at night, while 2 rows of tables and chairs are on the right side.
The 'crazy' thing about The Mind Cafe is it's range of games available, as well as the staff's knowledge on ALL the games there.
The staff there are all very friendly on my visits there, and would offer to recommend you the stacks of games, depending on your mood or preference. We could even tell them things like, "erm..a game where we wouldn't need to use too much brain cells" and tadah! They'll introduce something that is fun and yet..well..brainless (?) Lol.
Many games were uncommon games that I've never seen before, totally unlike Monopoly or Scrabbles. And the truth is, you can actually get crazy with your friends just by playing board games there. Haha..sounds nuts isn't it? Well..board games definitely brought a different meaning to me after that. ;)
Most importantly, it allowed me and my friends to have a great~ time there. :) Be it close friends or friends that you haven't seen in a long time, The Mind Cafe would definitely bring you guys closer after the games and food there. :)
Oh, mentioning about the food. In my impression, the food served there is actually quite reasonably priced and the quality of the food is not bad. But one thing that I'll ALWAYS get when I go there, is the brownie with ice-cream! *mm~* Their brownie is always so good..chocolatey and warm~ Topped with the cold vanila ice-cream? Yumyum. :P
Actually, The Mind Cafe doesn't have to be a place where you can hang out at, only with a group of people. Even if it's just 2-4 friends, you can drop by The Mind Cafe for games and fun as well. :)
Just do note that this branch at Princep (at Dhoby Ghaut, opposite Paradiz Centre) has quite limited space, especially during the night. So..it's either that you call to reserve a place, or that you can choose to drop by in the afternoon where it's less crowded and more suitable for a quiet afternoon spent with your friend(s). :)
