Place is rather small and cramp. Went with a group of 7 people but 2 of us went to get seats. We stood there where the plate says to wait for seats but we stood there for very long but no service crew even stop to ask us anything.
We had to stand in front of the crew to stop her and ask her for seats. She ask us to wait but we saw that since the service is like that, we decided to combine tables by ourselves and sit down.
Mushroom soup tasted blend and its garlic bread was tasteless and not even crispy like what it was in other branches. Looks like the garlic sauce on the bread was too little or the flavor just wasn't enough.
I ordered Mediterranean Linguini. Linguini was under cooked and very hard. Its sauce was too little so by the time I start to eat, the pasta was quite dry. Vegetables in the pasta was also not fresh as they tasted sour.
Mushroom and steak sandwich. The mushroom looked a bit erm.... wormy but the sauce for the mushroom was flavorful and real tasty though the cut of the steak was not so good though the crispy bread was totally awesome.
Chicken dumpling soup. Though it doesn't taste really that nice but it was the best among the soups that we ordered that day. Soup made of Cordyceps (I guessed) and other herbs together with dumplings with chicken meat filing. Chicken meat was plain in flavor together with the soup that was also plain in flavor summarizes into ... oh well, you got the idea. Its a tad ex too... being $5 for a small bowl with 2 dumplings.
Pasta dishes were nice and rated higher than average in comparison to those I've eaten. But there's nothing special worthed a mention cept that the amount of garlic in their cream-sauce types of pasta was a huge heap.
Flaky pizza. Husband commented that the crust of the pizza taste and feels like curry puff skin. (Thats why its called flaky pizza ba) He didn't like the pizza's crust but finds the filing very nice. I didn't had a taste of it but it seems like the dressing of the salad was great enough to make my husband eat the greens though he hates to eat vegetables.
Desserts were the best of the lot. We were having a headache trying to choose what to order.
I would recommend this Warm chocolate cake to people but provided you like the combination of dark chocolate and orange. The portion was big though compared to its creme brulee etc but one can gag from eating so much dark chocolate cake at once. The orange slice and vanilla ice cream seems to be there to lessen this effect. I was oohhing and ahhing when I ate this and they wanted to box me in the head. Lolx...
First time I've been there and we walked from Paragon to Plaza Sing. I've heard about Giraffe and read its review so I was rather interested in going there for drinks. The atmosphere down stairs was very good though we pampered kids prefer sitting indoors as we were sweating ourselves silly and there weren't any seats down stairs.
The deco upstairs disappointed me though. It looks like a wilderness wannabe that failed. Especially the uniform of the service crew there. The top was still fine but the pants made me think that they wore sleeping clothes to work. Untidy was the word.
Ordered Chamomile tea, San Miguel and grape Cosmopolitan. At first the San Miguel tasted like a plainer Tiger (That's not their fault). Then dirty cups and plates were used for Dephil's Chamomile Tea changed quickly on request. No honey was served with the tea too though available on request. I was rather happy with my Grape Cosmo. Prices seems to be lower than other pubs with an extensive menu to choose from.
It closes rather early too. The counter closes at 1am and the area upstairs closes at 1230am. I do hope it can close later especially on a Saturday night which we usually will go to a late night cafe/pub and sit there to talk/eat/drink.
Anyway, Tango's at Holland V. We went there after eating at Coffee Club (Yes, there's still space in there). Oh man~ this place is a HOT house. Not hot as in popular but hot as in not cool, warm, hot and sweating. I think this is due to its open concept (Look ma~ No doors~!) but yet used a lot of yellow lighting. By the end of the night, I'm uncomfortable not because of tiredness but because its too warm.
This place has got impressive menu though and it took us some time to decide what we wanted.
Dar ordered the half Chix and according to him, its value for money and definitely great tasting. I had a piece of the Chix too and indeed, the skin is crispy while meat is tender not to mention the size of the portion given. Grilled squid took a long time to cook and came out Cao4 Ta1 and oily.
We ordered Margarita, Tropical Paradise (Martini) which took damn long to come and Erdinger. Can't really say anything good about them which I think its mostly because the heat there made the iced drinks warm fast. Cold drinks soon became room temperature and doesn't taste as nice as should be.
We should have stay at the outside seats which seems to be cooler. No wonder there wasn't much people sitting inside when we went there.
Bought from them online and received an email confirmation as well as the assurance that someone will call me for the delivery. However there was some mistake as their system recognized the wrong thing and in actual fact there wasn't any discount for me. There was an email to explain this and they were very polite about it.
The next day there were 2 calls which I missed so they smsed me instead. However, I wasn't able to meet the time schedule so the person said he will contact me the next day if he could meet his delivery schedule. Since I needed the things urgently as I am going overseas, I asked the person whether he could deliver the things and even though most of his deliveries were in the East (I'm in the West) he took the time to deliver to me as late as 11pm so that I could have my goods.
Excellent service and I also find the items reasonably priced. Will most probably get my things from them in the future.
Went there for the first time in my life last 2 weeks and this place added to my interest watching the movie I watched. This place is definitely clean, brightly lit and comfortable to be in. Even my long legged husband sat comfortably in his seat. He normally felt squashed in theaters.
There are 2 booths for tit bits, drinks and food. The normal pop corn and coke and another one selling small food stuffs like cakes and sandwiches. I won't be having dinner at Secret Recipe if I've known it before hand.
However 1 glitch was my friend booked the tickets online but when he went to collect the ticket, he was told it was actually at another venue. My friend said its impossible since he double confirmed he got it at the correct cinema during the booking. Nevertheless, the crew managed to transfer the tickets over so that we won't waste our trip there.
Ate at Secret Recipe as we had wonderful experience with the food at Secret Recipe Malaysia. We are definitely and absolutely stupid to think that if the quality of food is the same at the Singapore branch.
My chicken Cordon Bleu looked like (all 4 opinions) : Sweet potato deep fried and there's hardly any cheese in it, just a bunch of ham and chicken a bit of cheese here and there. Compared to the time at KL that I've eaten, where the cheese will flow out when we cut the chicken. Dry texture and not much taste. This dish certainly failed. My husband ordered Black Pepper Chicken chop with rice and my husband's comments were:"the sauce tasted a bit strange."
Besides that, we were told that plain water is at the cost of $0.50 and since we couldn't find anything we liked in the menu, we decided to get plain water instead. When it came, we were speechless as the so called plain water is just bottled cold distilled water. Its not even the 500ml types but the 300ml type that was just sufficient to fill a cup. The meaning behind the bottled water was that it cannot be refilled. So There~!
Since a main dish cannot really fill my husband's stomach, he decided to order the cakes. As Secret Recipe was well known for having its cake menu half unavailable, we raised our hands to ask the service crew what were available. As expected, none of the crews came over. Nor did they look around or walk around but just hover at the payment counter. That happened when we raised our hands to order our food too.
However, a read up on the reviews will show that there were many positive reviews on the cakes they served. Its too bad that the service crew made us turned off otherwise we would have ordered the cakes and my review of it won't be too bad.
Bought a dress from this place. Ordering is by leaving comments for the "collection" of clothes and the blog owner will email you. Reply came quick and courteous. Item was also sent very fast and nicely packed. However, items seems to be limited and expensive looking at the materials of the clothing. One commendable thing is, the designs of the clothes are unique and seldom seen on other blog shops.
Went for lunch at this place this afternoon as my friend heard the recommendation for it over the radio. Decided to order the Sirloin Steak ($10) even though I didn't know its the specialty there. I simply love to eat steak even though I dislike most meat.
Medium well for the steak. The cut wasn't too good as there are too much ligaments (?). However meat was tender and goes well with the sauce but I would prefer heavier beef taste. Came with baked beans and fried whipped potato (with butter I guess) and fries. Quite value for the price of $10.
A friend ordered pork and he did mention its just average and nothing special. However he loved the fried chicken which looked a bit weird but that doesn't matter when the taste is good.
Beef stew was fine, I heard, in fact, the beef tasted delicious. However the vegetables that came with the stew were cold.
Chicken chop ($5.50) also received a "normal" review. With a common sauce as Pork chop, the sauce didn't seem to blend well with the meat.
On the whole, I guess I won't deliberately visit this stall for the food.
Went through IMM today on my way home from work and saw this small ice cream store facing away from the crowds. Decided to get some ice cream as I was having sugar rush.
Interesting flavors like milk tea flavor, green tea and red bean flavor, pumpkin, Orange and the more common ones like berry, rum and raisin.
I chose the rum and raisin flavor. Cost me around $3.80 for 1 scoop in a cup. Quite ex I can say, lucky the scoop wasn't too small.
Taste is just average or a bit above average comparing to ice cream like cold rock. However, I don't quite like the texture of the ice cream. Its too "loose" or should I say too watery. None of the chewiness I would like my ice cream to have.
Further, as I eat more of the ice-cream, the taste "disappeared" as my mouth becomes cold from the ice cream. Didn't finish my scoop as in the end it just tasted like a cold lumpy "thing".
I would like to try other flavors though. There may still be some potential of good taste. Just trying one may not be a good gauge of this brand of ice cream
