The XO Carrot Cake   The Macau Fried Rice with Chicken Chop   Fried Vegetable with Fish and Black Beans   Siew Mai and Steamed Pork Ribs   Our Drinks. =)
Another Hongkong restaurant that I ate on Sunday after checking out of the chalet, after a hectic 2 nights in the chalet. Tired but fun. =)

So the four of us - Suban, Colin, David and I sat down after a tremendous effort to get our bags to E!hub with the help of an NTUC trolley which came to great use. Having a good meal is all the more rewarding.

And we decided to eat at this place namely because we couldn’t be bothered to go anywhere further. So we ordered like many stuff ranging from side orders to finger food to main courses to funny drink cups and stuff.

What we ordered were as follows :
    - Some vegetable fried with fish and black beans.
    - Steam Pork Ribs
    - XO Carrot Cake
    - Nissin Luncheon Meat noodles
    - Mayo Fries
    - Fried Beef Hor Fun
    - Pork Floss French Toast
    - 2x Steamed Siew Mai
    - 2x Macau Fried Rice with Chicken Chop

    Drinks were:
    - Mango Pomelo
    - Ice Milked Tea
    - Honey lemon Plum Ice Blended
    - 2x Lime Tea Cooler

First to the food - I had the Macau Fried Rice with Chicken Chop. Tell me that the fried rice wasn’t fantastic. It tasted out of this world man. It’s neither hard nor too soft. And it’s a joy to eat it together with the chicken chop. And quantity wise is enough. My god.

The other thing that tasted out of this world was the XO Carrot Cake. But it was like one of the best side dish carrot cakes I have ever tasted in restaurants. Damn, I wanna have more! I also ordered the mayo fries, which is good because it wasn’t salty. But frankly speaking it’s just fries with a small pallet of mayo for dipping. Nothing really special about it. -_-”.

I also ordered steam pork rib, which wasn’t too bad la. The siew mai isn’t really worth ordering as it was rather small and needed a little more taste, which could be better. The Fried Hor Fun that David ate was normal and not that salty, and so is Colin’s Nissin Luncheon Meat noodle, which needed more salt. Suban ate the same fried rice as I did.

The plate of vegetable that we ordered isn’t all too bad. Wonder what fish they use? Well, to my amazement, it’s sardine. Well, it’s still edible. Haha. I couldn't comment on the French toast but I heard it was like their popular dish there. According to Colin and Suban, they told me that it was soft on the inside, a little crisp on the outside. With pork floss - YEA. LOL.

Now moving on to the drinks, its cool to say that the drinks are good stuff because it tasted different nonetheless. I had my Ice Milk Tea which was like Milk Tea, but they served in a rather cute type of glass. Same goes for the free Lime Tea Cooler which Colin and Suban had it free because of their birthday month.

Subsequently, Suban also ordered his Mango Pomelo and Honey Lemon Plum. The Mango Pomelo was fantastic. A mix so tasty that it keeps you wanting to drink more. That explains why Suban ordered the Honey Lemon Plum.

And for the Honey Lemon Plum…… It’s a drink that can really WAKE YOU UP for it’s high content of sourness. But what’s unique is that in the midst of it’s sourness contains sweetness that can be tasted. And that’s what I call a very very good drink. =)

In all, we spent a total of $81.45, and with so much food downed into our stomach, it was damn filling and happy. Haha. Ambience wise is alright, like any other Hong Kong Cafes you have been to. And we were having our meals with friendly staff service of course. =)

I ate at this place like 31st December 2007 when it's my girl's birthday? Besides, I was quite lucky to get the outdoor dining table facing the sea, and most importantly, facing the fireworks. Clear view, clear sky, what more could anyone ask for?

reserved a place there earlier and went there rather early, because a surprise that her friend's planned for her was delayed. LOL. Not that I wanted it. But then, we headed to Haru Dining at around 7:35pm and had the outdoor dining table. Accompanied with a superb view of the floating new year resolution balls and the red-lit Singapore Flyer, it is no wonder why the outdoor dining was fully booked in the first place. Lucky someone cancelled it and I took the opportunity.

So we started off with a menu spoilt with choices. Ranging from sashimi to maki to udon and to temaki, there are just so many stuff that sound so good and yet so appetizing. So from there, we forgotten about the price and started ordering. And I must say, this is the best new year’s eve that I ever spent with my darling. Really. Seriously. Truly.

And after looking at the menu for like a good 15 mins, we decided on these things - Chawanmushi, Rainbow Roll, Agedashi Tofu, Crunchy Roll (yea I know but its really a dish!), Sashimi Moriawase, California Temaki, Mekajiki Sashimi, Tempura Udon and last but not least, a bowl of Ice Cream. Sounds tempting? I paid 144 dollars plus alfresco (outdoor) dining for this. But its way worth it then I thought. The only disadvantage I can think of is that the tea lights they have are not bright enough to let us see the menu and food clearly. But yet again, its fantastic with the sea breeze.

And yup, the waiter was nice enough to delay my dishes so that I could get by the time long enough to wait till the fireworks. And about the greatness of the dishes, I must say that this Japanese restaurant arguably serves the freshest fish than any other Japanese restaurant in Singapore could have. Eating the Sashimi Moriawase was heavenly. Trust me, the salmon and tuna just melts in your mouth. By the way, Sashimi Moriawase is like a set of sashimi served on ice. The other thing that you should try is the Chawanmushi. I seriously don’t know how they make it, but then, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it just taste so damn good. That taste will forever be remembered. The Chawanmushi has this layer of custard pudding on top of it, and its soft and silky. Woah.

The tempura udon was like any other tempura, just that its fresher. The Rainbow Roll and Crunchy Roll were fantastic stuff as well. Crunchy roll was really crunchy, if not they wouldn’t have called it that name I guess. Made of smoked salmon, avocado and grilled eel topped up with tempura chips and sweet sauce, it makes it taste like eating cereals. Yet with that sweet and tasty taste, no wonder Crunchy Roll online was great as well. LOL. And Rainbow Roll was really colourful, with the colour of salmon, tuna and white fish, with the insides containing grilled eel, cucumber, crab stick and avocado, it was a wonderful treat of freshness. The Mekajiki (Swordfish) was really good, with the fish meat not as tough and yet it kinda melts as well. Great stuff.

Enjoyed a bowl of Ice Cream for like 5 bucks, and its only a scoop. Not really that worth it. In overall, the service is great, the food is fabulous, the view is breath-taking and the outlook of the food is fantastic. Only if you have the cash, or it won’t be the best night of your life. And what’s more, I got fireworks just in front of my very eyes. =).

      P.S - I spent $150 in total. =)

I ate at this place like a year ago and I believe I should review this as this place deserves some mentioning.

At that time, my friends and I ate under the artistry of the Singapore Fireworks theme. The fireworks were to commemorate Vivocity’s one year anniversary. So got the right table, the right place and the right time.

Well, this restaurant is of Brazilian origin and they serve, as obvious from the title of my post, meat. Different flows of meat, sliced to the finest. And its buffet style. Which means the meat just come to you anytime. So we had varieties of meat. There are many nice meats they serve. Like the Medium Rare beef. Its not that tough, yet it taste like sushi, where it kinda melts in the mouth. Heavenly. Plus the smoked ham, where its so so so easy to slice. And downing your throat is even more smooth. They have this grilled chicken, and its like not that hard, yet the meat is as slick as the medium rare beef. Fantastic.

They do have sausages going around, plus lamb, well-done beef, chicken heart (yeap, you saw it, CHICKEN heart), etc. Speaking about chicken heart, I went to Carnivore on my anniversary with my girl, just that we didn’t try the chicken heart, afraid that after biting it, blood flows out like nobody’s business. LOL. Well, I tasted it and it tastes like………………. Pork. Don’t blame my taste buds for I wasn’t dreaming. It really taste like pork. It just feels meaty thats all. Nothing to compare about. Haha. So halfway through our meal, the fireworks were shown, lighting up the what would be a dull dark sky.

The customer service is great, where their waiters will be there telling you what you should know before you start eating and stuff. We also ordered a Caprinha, a drink consisting of lime, rum and some gaseous drink. And it taste like… bitter medicine. And downing it makes me feel like puking. BUT… the catch is that the drink was of much help because they assist the digestion of the meat and kinda do something to the fats. The waiter explained it all to me. The drink is helpful, but not the taste. And it cost freaking 12 bucks.

But, if you feel like a lion one day, don’t hesitate to try this place. Be prepared for a feast of meat so great that you will wanna eat vegetarian for the next few days. Hint - Eat slowly. Or else the beef will take up your stomach space. =)

the drinks.   wedges   wedges and the meals.
This is one of my another lunch breaks and my cousin insisted on having an air con place to eat, so we eventually end up at The Coffee Club along Upper East Coast Road.

So famished as we can get, we ordered a considerably large amount. We firstly ordered our drinks. I ordered a Mocha Vanilla whereas she ordered a blackberry coffee or something. Her’s was good, although a little sweet because she called for more sweetness. They have jelly inside as well, and it’s a different thing to try as well. But nonetheless, her’s is a good product to behold. Mine was general in terms of coffee aspects.

Next, we had Potato Wedges. So long since I ate wedges at places like this. The nicest so far was at TCC, but then I couldn’t resist but try the ones at coffee club. Amazing enough, the size of the wedges are large as well as the serving itself. I could eat up the wedges and I will be full, but then, work took a toll on me and I had to feast nonetheless. Oh, I forgot, it taste great. =)

Then our main courses came. I ordered Alfredo while she ordered her Seafood Pasta. Amazingly, my Alfredo tasted out of this world, with cheese that melts in your mouth and pasta that was rather generous in terms of portion. Her Seafood Pasta was even better with a mix of prawns, mussels, sotong and something else that I forgotten. But both of our meals were fantastic. The taste of her Seafood Pasta doesn’t really have that much of a raw seafood taste, which some people dislike. But then, hers was a good buy.

Overall, the service staff were a little inattentive, but were kind and polite. Ambience was good though, more of a chill out spot than a restaurant. I have yet to try their desserts, which I was raring to but didn’t had the time. Anyway, with comfortable seats and sumptuous food, I guess it was a good experience, and might dine at coffee club in the future. =)

            Category: Chinese (New)
This restaurant, situated at Neil Road, is like a walking distance to the shops of Chinatown. Before it became a air-conditioned restaurant, they were just working their hats off at Tiong Bahru. Some corner store it might be during the old days, it sells one of the nicest dishes I’ve ever eaten though. I will always patronise their restaurant because my grandmother and grandfather’s birthday will be there annually. And the chef's my uncle's friend. That explains the annual visits.

So we ordered the standard dishes that my grandparents loved. The ones that really deserves mention were the chilli crabs, fishes, frog legs and some fried prawn thing. The chilli crab is super fresh and fantastic. Enough chilli was added to the crab to be cooked to the ultimate taste.

The fishes that we ordered were either the garouper (I think spell wrong. Lol.), some red fish and today, a fruit fish. The fruit fish’s meat was extremely soft and smooth, its like melting in your mouth. Fantastic. The the frog legs were cool. Actually they were not only frog legs, its actually the whole frog. Just tasty. Enough said for this frog.

The fried prawn thing was like any other appetizers. Just that its so tasty and crunchy that we order it almost everytime we go there. And dipping it with mayonnaise is even more stupendous. The prawn mixed with the paste was so tongue-pleasing.

The ambience was good, quiet and great staff service. Most of them speak chinese, as the the restaurant name is obvious to see, but they also do speak cantonese. So do go there and patronize the place. But please bring enough cash. Its seafood. =)

P.S - Unfortunately for the food that taste so good, I didn't whip up my camera fast enough before the food is gone. LOL.
