Recently I was at Raffles Hospital Health screening centre. My appointment was at 8.40 am. I signed up for the ladies executive package which consists of usual physical examination, medical hisotry interview and pap smear, breast examination, chest Xray, bone density test, ultra sound of the abdomen, quick ECG, tonometry to test eyeball pressure, blood test and urine test plus additional nasal scope. All the examinations or tests on the average took 10 mins or less. It took me 5 hours to complete the above examinations and I had to fast the night before. By the time I was allowed to eat it was around 12.30 after which I had 3 more tests to go. I had to miss my breakfast. By then lunch should have been provided for their inefficient time management. I dont understand why it took about 5 hours to complete. There were so many pockets of long waiting times and yet the visit is by appointment and for health screening only. The clinic should be able to know how long and how many patients to attend too. I think the hospital should seriously think about cutting down the waiting time just like the pizza order. If it is not delivered on time the service will be free. I wonder if it dares to take up this challenge....

While I visit my friend in Singapore General Hospital, I come across this Polar pastry shop and I thought I might as well give it a try since I have heard some good remarks about it. To my expectation, the curry puff is yummy. The crust is a little flakey and that is what a puff should be like. The fillings is just nice in terms of proportion and with some taste of spicyness and the meat was cut the right size. I ordered a cup of coffee and it was just divine, curry puff and coffee with milk. Surprisingly the coffee was good too. Price wise was $1.40 for the curry puff and $2.20 for the coffee. There was an offer of 5 curry puff for $5/- and as a typical Singaporean I bought 5. When I reached home I heated a curry puff in the oven toaster and the taste was excellent. I prefer to have it slightly heated up if convenient. There are other pastries like sugar rolls, cakes, chicken pie and special pie etc. Do try the polar curry puff.

I simply love the silver fish fried rice at Hans and it got to be the one at Marine Parade. I have tried the fried rice at other locations but none can beat the one at Marine Parade. This fried rice comes with tiny fried silver fish, sunny side-up egg, fried onions, carrot and green peas. It has that wok smell. The waiter served me the steaming hot silver fish fried rice. The rice is so fragant and texture is just nice not soggy nor too grainy. Its awesome! The best time is to eat in the late evening when it is not crowded. That's when the chef has all the time to fry it. To balance my diet I ordered a plate of chicken salad. The salad is just normal but the sliced chicken was not good. It was a little too tough probably the old chicken. After the rice, kopi-C is a must. Han's kopi-c is really nice. Price wise is OK. After my meal, I went to do my grocery shopping at NTUC. What a superb arrangement. - food cum exercise. So the next time when you are at Marine Parade do not give Hans a miss.

I brought my old gold chain with a broken clasp to the goldsmith for repair. The person who served me was very friendly and polite. I was very pleased when he offered to repair it on the spot. I traded in the broken clasp for a new one for only $30. The shop has been there for more than 30 years. I like to visit this shop because it is still operated in a very traditional way. According to the salesman, their customers are basically introduced by word of mouth. The customers includes Father, mother, daughter and son and grand children of the same family. No wonder all the staffs serving the customers are also quite elderly. Perhaps this is why they can keep there customers for ages. I am glad that such traditional business and services still exist in this modernised age.

If you like traditional 916 gold, you may want to visit this shop because they also carry a wide range of gold chain, necklace, ear rings, rings, pendants, bracelets, anklets etc.

Thanks to the author of the review of Spring Court Restaurant. I recall the spring chicken from this restaurant in the good old days. This restaurant has been around for quite awhile . At that time the food was good and the prices from this restaurant at Chinatown were reasonable. After reading the review by GWEN, for my next special dinner occasion, Spring Court restaurant will be it. Hopefully the food is still as good as I thought!
