This GP clinic is conveniently located at Lakeside MRT station.
It is a small clinic, hence the seating area for patients is limited. However, during the 2 occasions I visited, there were few patients around. The clinic is run by several doctors who are on duty at different days, so you might want to avoid seeking medical attention here if you prefer to be seen by the same doctor. Nevertheless, a plus point is that it is opened even on Sat & Sun from morning till night, except during the lunch break, I think. But all things come with a price, thus you will find that the consultation costs vary with the days and times. Price range from around $20-$30?
For the 2 times I visited, I was seen by 2 different male doctors. They are both polite. I recovered after taking the medications prescribed. In short, I don't have any complaints about their professionalism so far.
A well-known private hospital in the heart of Orchard. Mt Elizabeth hospital, besides offering hospital services, has a medical centre that houses numerous specialist clinics. Thus you won't find a GP clinic here.
In terms of facility, Mt E lacks a proper canteen/food court for patients and visitors. It only has a rather lousy canteen where mainly only the hospital staff dine, from a lack of choice. The only other eatery around is Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. But I guess the lack of a canteen is due to the fact that Orchard Road is brimming with eatery. Just opposite, one can find Paragon which has a whole range of eatery to suit different budgets and taste.
The next most basic facility is the washrooms, here in Mt E the washrooms are fairly classy but only has 3 cubicles.
The traffic to the taxi-stand could be heavy during peak hours as it is near a junction. And there is no traffic light or zebra crossing from the taxi stand to the back of Paragon, unfortunately, this is the shortest route from Mt E to Paragon hence you will always see people risking life and limbs crossing this stretch of road.
Earth Kitchen recently revamped its menu. The designs of its menu now look more classy and matches its interior. The inside of this restaurant is pleasing, as hanging lights with ornate designs decorate its ceiling. On its walls are intricate Chinese carvings. Its seats are black plastic chairs. Seating areas near the kitchen can be smoky. I will not say it is posh, but for a causal dining place it does stand out from its rivals.
An added bonus is that there are no service charge and GST, yet it is not a self-service restaurant. The waiters do come to your table to take your order and serve you your food. However, the waiters do not wear uniforms and most of them are China nationals. Hence there maybe a language barrier, and some of them serve the foreigners and working executive better than the locals. Discrimination! Also occasionaly, the waiters take the wrong order, but they will correct it.
This restaurant faces Tanjong Pagar MRT entrance/exit point at the street level. It opens really early at 8am and is open till 9 or 10pm.
In the morning, it sells breakfast such as Chinese rice cakes, and a few other traditional Chinese breakfast fare.
For the rest of the day, you can order any items on its menu, prices start from $5 to about $10. But avoid the evening as most of its food are sold out.
It offer set meals (available all hours) such as Chicken rice (white or roasted) with soup and vegetables @ $6.30. It comes with chilli but unlike Chatterbox, you won't be given ginger and black sauce is only offered if you ask for it. Other sets includes Pork chop, curry chicken, herbal chicken, preserved vegetables and etc.
Besides the set meals, there are individual dishes like vegetables, sweet & sour pork, mango puff etc. Also, Yong tau foo with bee hoon, honey chicken with noodles and other Chinese fare are available.
You can have a sweet ending to your meal by ordering from its variety of desserts (over 20 types of desserts). Both hot & cold are available. Common local delights like Chendol, Bo bo char, durian ice cream, almond & seasame paste are available besides others.
I think this outlet has undergone some renovation and look much nicer now. Like most other branches, it has a CD corner.
I think Popular has improved in its in-house brand of stationery which is affordable and seem of fairly good quality.
1) Mini metallic staple set, which come in several colours like silver and blue. It includes a mini staple, staple bullet and a mini scotch tape. $2.10
2) Bundled pens. 25 pens for $5.90. It comes in red, blue and black ink. The pens are also retractable, with rubber grips. It seems comparable to more well-known brands, that is if you are only requiring it for ordinary writing.
Besides selling their own brands they also sell other brands which give consumers more choices.
The nurse is either an Indian or Malay lady whereas the Dr is a male Chinese.
The clinic is fully air-conditioned, but austerely decorated. I made an appointment and the nurse was considerate enough to call a few days before the appointment to remind me about it.
But when I arrived at the clinic the Indian nurse was on duty. Unlike other dental clinic I visited, the nurse was neither gowned nor wearing a mask. Furthermore she was somewhat rude. There was another patient there, and she was preoccupied with talking to them and ignored me. At least she should asked me what I wanted and gave me a form to fill up first, but instead she snappily asked me to wait. Then when the other patient left, she attended to me. I told her I forgot to bring my NRIC for registration and she was irritated. I wrote mt particulars down myself, and it took a while, she looked impatient. Finally she asked me to wait for my turn as there was someone else who came before me.
The consultation room has a glass window so other people can view as the Dr treat you. I don't like this.
As I waited I decided that I didn't want to consult this Dr so I left. Very rude but I felt uncomfortable that the nurse was not properly attired and seemed rough. I didn't want rough treatment from the nurse who will be attending on me when the Dr treated me.
