times restaurant & cafe   minestrone   grilled steak / fish   cesaer salad   coffee walnut cake
Hubby has dine in this eatery a couple of times, and finally he brought us (the family) to try out the western food. The eatery is located under the HDB block, near to an open carpark.

    Minestrone soup
Frankly, I do not like minestrone soup. Still prefer cream based soup like cream of mushroom, cream of chicken, cream of Anything. But this one, this minestrone soup took my breath away. Its thick tomato flavour engulfed my tongue and I wished I could have more (too bad was sharing it with my hubby).

    Chicken cesaer salad
Fresh, crunchy vege with boiled chicken and fruits. Salad dressing was served separately hence you can control how much you wish to add in. Good for the health conscious.

    Grilled steak / fish
Steak and cream dory fish on a sizzling hotplate. Side dishes include a full potato, carrots/radish and beans. We got to choose between mushroom or black pepper sauce and we both selected the latter. I requested for my steak be medium rare but it came to me more like well-done, there was no redness in the meat. Despite of this, the steak was easy to chew.
The fish was fantastic! Crispy on the outside and smooth/ piping hot in the inside. In comparison, I would prefer the fish than the steak.

    Coffee walnut cake
A small slice of tad-flavoured coffee cake.

On average, one main course is about $10. Top up $2.80 of the main course to enjoy the soup / dessert of the day plus coffee/tea.

The overall experience was a pleasant one, servers were very courteous – prompt refill of our iced water too. Since it is a Nepalese restaurant, I guess we would try out the Nepalese food on our next trip.

cream of mushroom   photo0279.jpg   aglio olio   mushroom pizza
The lunch promotion ($22 for 2 sets) was too hard too resist. Though the board says to pay by standard chartered card but we clarified with the server and confirmed that we can enjoy the promotion via any credit card payment.

Soup of the Day - Cream of Mushroom
You will love this if you like creamy soup and it came in a generous serving. I could taste the true mushrooms in my mouth.

      Main Course - Aglio Olio
This is the one which i would definitely order when i go western/ italian restaurants. It may seem an easy dish, but as the saying goes... The easier it seems, the more it can reflect the culinary of the chef. Sadly, this dish was a disappointment. The pasta (spaghetti) was hard, there was a fragrance of the garlic but tasted nothing. Though can see the chopped chilli but it aint spicy.

Main Course - Mushroom thin-crusted pizza
The super-thin crust topped with sliced mushrooms and mozzarella cheese was fantastic! Crispy on every bite, sauce on the pizza is juz right - did not overpower the taste of the mushrooms.

The set lunch also came with ice-cream and coffee/tea. Free flow of iced water was served upon seated.

Great store to dig for basics, i love especially their sleeveless tank top and shorts. But my experience in J8 branch wasnt a pleasant one.

While browsing through the racks, the SA fished out the first piece from the same row that i was browsing and put it to the correct color section, all these while not a word of 'excuse me' or 'sorry'.

Saw a pair of demin shorts which i liked. Picked up another 2 tops and went to the fitting room. No one was manning it hence i asked the nearest SA (standing at the cashier counter - not serving anyone at that moment) if i could enter. She merely pointed the room and continued with what she was doing (saw her pressing the calculator). Okay, i got the cue and went in.

Decided to buy the shorts and brought it to the cashier counter. The SA (still pressing the calculator) did not even look up and just called up 'Cashier'. A lady came and greeted me with a wide smile (at last! a decent customer service!) Upon leaving the counter she said thanks and flashed her smile again.

I aint asking for excellent customer service, but I am not even given the basic... This branch needs to take note of handling customers.

its interior….   the steamboat setting   cooked food
My first visit to Seoul Garden Bugis after it shifted to the new unit.

          Ambience
The whole restaurant was filled with smoke. There was this strong bbq smell and my eyes were stinged to tears.

          Service
Our table lacked of the soup ladle and spoons. Hard to get the servers' attention. Dirty plates were cleared promptly, which was important to me as i have this peeve of using dirty plates at buffet :P

          Food
We chose yom yam soup base. Soup was bland.

Standard seoul garden spread at the meat section. I wasnt much a carnivore hence i ate more on vegetables, fishballs and stuffs. Cooked food was surprisingly nice. Do try the 'ngoh hiam fish', 'chicken wing' and 'curry samosa'.

          Summary
Head home right after dinner. You will stink.

Marugo Calppacho   Hotate and Cheese Cream Udon   Hokkaido Oyster & Mushroom Ramen
My SO and i has always been fans of Waraku so we thought we gave the one at East Coast a try rather than the usual Marina Square (coincidentally, i had waraku for lunch at katong the day before).

          Ambience
          One word, "TERRIBLE".
We were there on saturday evening and there was a waiting crowd already at 6plus. You could hear kids wailing and screaming (pardon me, i cant stand that) which i did not expect in a got-standard restaurant.

Finally ushered to our seats and guess what... Our table is lined in such a way that my butt is sitting on 2 sofas... We did not want to wait any longer so just bear with it. Next thing i noticed there was no condiments nor serviettes on our table. Bother!

          Food
          Chawanmushi ($4.80)
It was good, no denial. The egg was smooth and nicely flavoured. I like it that they had a tiny sliced lime on it.

          Gyu Yanagawa ($12.00)
It was our 1st time trying this dish. The beef was thinly sliced and cooked over the fire. Companion sauce was not too salty.

          Marugo Calppacho ($12.80)
The garlic was soggy. Thumbs down. I had it at the katong branch and the garlic was crisp, went very well with the tuna and sour sauce. The one at east coast was a disappointment.

Hotate and Cheese Cream Udon ($13.80)
Cheese did not overpower the creamy soup base.

Hokkaido Oyster & Mushroom Ramen ($12.80)
The noodles was 'Q', mushrooms and oysters are soft to bite, the oysters were fully cooked which suited me as i dare not eat raw oyster.

          Summary
Food is on par with its other branches, though not a place for people who wish to dine in quiet moments
