The Café Cartel is a restaurant-chain based in Singapore serving American cuisine, particularly from the New York region. It currently operates ten restaurants across the island, including four in the suburban areas of Bishan, East Coast, Serangoon Gardens, and Tampines.

    Yummy rib!;D
I was told by my friend that the pork ribs sold here was a very big portion, and no doubt, she is right. There are two pieces of ribs, with fries and coleslaw.

The rib was honey glazed deliciously, bringing out the sweet and aromatic taste of the rib. The only thing is that part of the meat was pretty hard as it was glazed, however it was still yummy overall;D
Was really very full and could not finish every bit of the rib. If it’s for dinner, maybe I could share it with someone else and it will be just right.(:

Really delicious rib, would have it again if I had the chance;D

Just returned from Cafe Cartel. I was really disappointed. First, the sign at the entrance told us to wait for seats. While standing there for at least 10mins, the waitress and waiters (including the managers) pretended that they did not see us. After waving to them a couple of times, we gave up and walk in to find a seating ourselves.

One of the waitress that served us had a bad attitude. That didn't really give us a good experience. The way she drop the cutlery set and the menu on our table was rude.

Although its food is ok, except that their bread has lost it's original standard, the service had spoilt our entire dinner experience.

I hope cafe cartel will do something to the quality of their service staff.

        DISAPPOINTING
I feel so repulsed and disappointed that i have to write this feedback. I was quite annoyed that they do not even have feedback forms there as well. So i made it a point to do it here then!

I have not gone to Cafe Cartel for some time, and it was a last minute thing to go into CafeCartel Plaza Singapura today at around 9pm. (Monday)

Unfortunately, outside there were no attendance so we didnt know if we could go in or we had to wait outside. we wandered around for about 5 minutes before deciding to go in after which one waiter told us to wait.

After going in, it seemed like there was a shortage of man power. There were hardly any waiters around. The tables we not cleaned and nobody seemed to bother. I had to find a waiter to get it cleaned. he didn't do a good job of it either.

After signaling for the waiter, the waiter didn't seem very receptive or attentive. He didn't even want to speak. I had to ask 3-4 times the same question before he answered. My friend wanted lasagna and asked if there was another meat, and he didn't respond and instead TOOK it as an ORDER. We had to question two more times, before he finally said no only chicken.

My friend asked for warmwater, he gave boiling hot water. We asked for another glass of cold water and this time i asked my friend to inspect it, and it was not clean, there was some small black grains inside.

There was no pepper or chilli around for the beef bolognese that i ordered.

When the food came, we were only served with 1 serviate. I had to get up once more to go and ask the waiter for more serviate.

        The food was mediocre.

I am not a very fussy person when it comes to food. in fact, the food was actually okay, not great, but okay. But the fact that these events took place, before we even started on the food, really spoilt my appetite and mood.

For such a location and paying such a price

For such a mediocre quality of food the only thing that could have saved it was the atmosphere, but instead that was the opposite.

This restaurant doesn't deserve to be there. I will not be visiting that restaurant for a long time. I feel cheated.

Ive been to cafe cartel a few times and tried the food at different branches. (namely ps, bishan, ms )

Sadly, I am really upset about standard of the food and staff's attitude . I ve been to all three outlets to see if there is any changes or improve in staff attitude or food, but everywhere is the same. I guess cafe cartel is out of my consideration for the mean time.

I shall talk about my most recent trip to the outlet at Bishan J8. I went there with my family. My brother, sister and my grandmother. It was meant to be a treat for my grandmother who came from overseas to visit .But she was very disappointed.

Firstly, we waited for about 5 minutes before anyone came to bring us to a table. There was no queue in front of us. Then, we were only given 1 set of menu ( for the 4 of us ). The waitress gave us another set of menu when we requested without any smile / expression on her face, not at all sincere. so in total we were given 2 set of menus. I never have this problem with other restaurants such as Jack's place/Ichiban etc. We were all given individual menus.

Secondly, our orders took too long to be served. We ordered st louis spare ribs, hawaiian pork chop, fish and chips and another pork cutlet. the pork chops and fish and chips came in about 15 to 20 mins after order was placed, and the worst is, the spare ribs, it took about 30 mins. All 3 of us have already eaten our portion about 1/2 or more when it came, leaving my brother last to have his spare ribs served. The waiters/waitress were too slow to response and none of them carried smiles on their faces.

The food too heavily flavoured for our liking. I wonder if the heavy flavour was to cover the "unfreshness" of the food/ingredient. The bbq sauce that came with the pork cutlet and spare ribs was quite artificial tasting and too strong. My granny complained her pork cutlet was too hard and she has to chew quite a bit.And that the pork was not fresh. The fish and chips served was a tad too oily.

Enough of my complaints, i guess the only good thing there is their super big servings and free servings of toasted bread with butter. And some good discounts with various credit/debit cards. For citibank its 15 percent off total bill and for capital land debit card/credit card its 10percent rebate.

Overall, most of us left 1/3 to 1/2 of our food uneaten mainly because of the big serving and poor quality of food. For the 80 dollars that we paid, we could have gotten better food elsewhere.

I had a class outing at cafe cartel.. it was a nice place to chill out and we chat there after lunch for about 3 hours. saw quite some students there because the weekday lunch promotion is easy on the pockets for students as well. One can enjoy a drink (peach tea/ coke/sprite/ coffee/tea), soup of the day, main course, and a desert. Of course, you can have free flow of bread which is the unique thing about all cage cartel outlets.

You get to choose from 3 kinds of main course everyday. we went on a thursday so the choices were: Grilled Salmon Fillet in Lemon Buttered Sauce, Shredded Pork With Mushroom Baked Rice and Spicy Chicken of the Mediterranean (this is available throughout the week). Everything costs just $9.50nett, which means no gst and service charge.

Spicy Chicken of the Mediterranean. the largest serving of all 3 meals. nothing exactly special about the sauce and not very spicy. there are some small potatoes which you don’t usually see around. very filling but nothing to shout about.

Grilled Salmon Fillet in Lemon Buttered Sauce. my friends complained that it was too dry. the taste of lemon was light and taste wasnt rich enough.

Shredded Pork With Mushroom Baked Rice . probably the nicest of the 3. the taste was just nice and the cheese wans’t overwhelming.

dessert of the day, custard caramel pudding. sweet and not everyone can accept the taste. a few of my friends didnt even finish it. and the appearance, as it is given to us, makes it looks cheap. they could have scored higher in completing the meal by placing the pudding on a plate or did something to make it more appetizing.

Overall you can get very full for a price of $9.50 at cafe cartel but don’t expect much about the quality..

I strongly agreed with all of you, this place is very cramped and the service is very lousy. The staff just dont bother.

I went there for a few times, very disappointed and never return since. I have even encountered, after taking the order forms from us, the food comes is not what we ordered and when we tell them was replied as ' this is what you order what'... Sometimes, it's not like we are difficult customers, it's their attitude that makes us nasty. When I tell them to go check the order, that girl never returned, a Manager came instead. He apologies for the mixed up and agreed to change the dishes for us. And the whole atmosphere was very bad after that, cause, all the waiters and waitress whom served us, give us 'complaint customers lo' look.

The drinks have to be reminded and even utensils. How can a restaurant like this do business, and really wonder why still got long q ??

So you thought Cafe Cartel had good Saint Louis Pork Ribs?
Trust me, you wont want to go to the Cafe Cartel at Plaza Singapura for anything!

              I've been there twice.

The first was with a bunch of guys and after making our order, we started getting our 'free' bread which came together with meal. Shortly, their service crew arrived to our table and slammed the food in front of us, without any utensils. When requested for, the same waiter walked past swiftly and threw the utensils onto the table. Service was unacceptable and we lodged a complain.

The second time I returned to the same place just last week, this time with a girl. A foreign worker was taking my orders and yes, when asked for 2 eastside brownies. Only one came, and I immediately blanked out and asked where's the other.

The waiter said ,' you ordered only one.'

So my friend and I had to share the SUPER SWEET brownie. Shortly after we started, another Eastside Brownie arrived at our table. There you go, a confusion, together with a big problem with the staff that Cafe Cartel has been recruiting.

Again, the food is fine. So far, the joint at IMM was the best for me. But please guys, train up your crew:D
