5 Reviews for “Cafe del Mar” - Nightlife
This is a good place to rest, enjoy the sun, be cozy next to the pool and sip a nice cold drink.
My husband and I went there Thursday afternoon. We ordered drinks after another and they took them to the poolside where we're busy getting some tan. It's not busy so we were happy with the fast service.
They have a nice DJ booth above the pool bar but I totally don't remember what kind of music they're playing (maybe it's not interesting so I forgot it?)
The place is for guests only i.e., everyone who wants to stay and swim at the pool should order something. They have several toilets and shower rooms which ofcourse, are for customers only.
And I'd rather swim at Cafe Del Mar's small, shallow pool than the beach in front. The view of the big tankers at the beach is ugly. I wish they just dock somewhere else.
This place is a little expensive though. If you are tempted to stay in one of their loungers in the sand or the comfortable 'bed' inside take note that you should spend a minimum of hundred bucks more even though you spent a lot already munching that special menu they have.
Must try food: Paella.

One Word - Bad.
My first visit was on a weekday and it was rather acceptable.
However, on my next visit on a Sunday... Service was slow. Obviously, under staffed. I have to stop a waiter to place my order.
The crews were rude as if they are not trained or paid. The crews only serve the foreigners 1st, the sun beds were only opened to them....
Food is so-so, nothing great. Drinks are not cheap compared to other beach bar at Sentosa.
No return for sure..
Hope to see more options when the IR is up.

How can I have NOT review CDM?!!!
Ok my manager brought all the Lunar parttimers over to CDM and he opened up the just-washed-jacuzzi for all of us.
Smells like any other chlorine water, and the finger food was a alot better than Lunar lol.
The cocktails was kinda good...but it's the atmosphere. We went on a weekday, not much people were there...but it's a really sexy feeling there...
Anyway it's a place to chill, if the crowd is not right, bring your own 'crowd'. That's the point about chill place ain't it?
anyway I found love there too :)

Atrocious Service, Wrong Music, Spectacular Disaster
As much as the place looked and felt really good, the basic service standard was atrocious.
It was the opening night and the girlfriend and I were unable to get a drink for the 2 hours we were there. All the wait staff either turn their blind eye or lied that they could not take customers' orders. Then I realized that they would only take orders only if you opened a bottle. Opening party is one thing, but cashing in like this is just not right. I have much doubts if they would improve in this area.
Being a Friday night, the amount of clothes were also, well, a little too much. But then again, the invited came straight from work, and in their conservative partying wear/casual work wear. It's a contrast to the ambience with that light-painted wade pool that was expecting frolicking bikini-babes (unfortunately there were none on Friday). So try going on Saturday instead.
The music on the opening night was totally off. Sure the DJs were good in their own right, but shouldn't the place sound and feel like Café Del Mar instead of MOS or Zouk? The DJ's spins were so different from the sample music on the website it felt you entered the wrong place. Plus there wasn't really a decent dancefloor, so I thought it was a major f***-up.
Once again, toilets. There needs to be government intervention on the minimum number of female toilet cubicles for a club. Once again the line at the ladies extended to forever, while there were only a handful of men in the gents. After so many establishments, new clubs ought to know that the ladies to gents ratio should be something like 5 : 1. But yet they would rather the ladies queue up in an orderly manner like some flesh parade... Oh wait, I guess that's the idea.
If I ever visit again, remind me to buy my beverages at the 7 Eleven and finish them before entering.

Perhaps thanks to their marketing efforts, there seem to be a lot of hype about this new Café del Mar. The place's beautiful, with music pumping throughout the night (though I don't particularly liked them).
Chilling out there with a couple of friends was overall a pretty pleasant experience. But honestly, it failed to capture my heart. And being located all the way out in Sentosa didn't help.
