Fine Spirits By La Maison Du Whisky - Food & Beverages

[Singapore, March 2011] The world’s oldest bottled single malt whisky, Mortlach 70 Year Old / 1938 - which is also the first ever 70-year-old Single Malt Scotch whisky bottled for retail sale, is now available in Singapore.

There are only fifty-four (54) 70cl bottles in the world but only one (1) has been brought to Southeast Asia. A bottle was presented to the Queen of England, and was later transferred to the National Museum of Scotland as part of a display to celebrate Scotland's culture and heritage.

Released under Gordon & MacPhail’s ‘Generations’ brand and bottled at cask strength - 46.1% Alcohol By Volume (ABV), Mortlach 70YO is proudly presented in Singapore by La Maison du Whisky.

This exceptionally rare whisky is undeniably one of the most sought-after whiskies by collectors and enthusiasts around the globe. It will be on display at Fine Spirits by La Maison du Whisky Singapore from now to 15th May 2011 at: The Pier@Robertson Quay 80 Mohamed Sultan Road #01-10

“We are honored to be offering the opportunity to offer such rare whisky,” commented Jeremy Moreau, General Manager, La Maison du Whisky Singapore.

The colour of sun-bleached polished mahogany, this precious liquid is described by whisky connoisseur Charles MacLean, as “a delicate, fresh, vital, fruity whisky, with unusual attributes of waxiness and smokiness”.

“The then new-make spirit of Mortlach 70 Year old was filled into the cask on the order of our grandfather John Urquhart. We believe Mortlach 70 Years Old is a malt without comparison. We are confident that whisky lovers or collectors wishing to own a unique piece of Scotland’s liquid history will be very excited about Mortlach 70 Year Old,” shared David and Michael Urquhart, Joint Managing Directors of Gordon & MacPhail, the custodian of some of Scotland’s finest and rarest single malt scotch whiskies.

Out-shining the previous Guinness World Record for the World’s Oldest Single Malt Whisky, the Mortlach 70 Year Old is presented in an elegant tear-shaped crystal decanter. Hand-blown by an expert craftsman to ensure an exquisitely flawless finish and topped with an elegant silver stopper bearing minimalist engraving, the bottle is nestled in a stylish silver base and securely framed in a handmade Brazilian Rosewood box. The presentation is completed with a certificate signed by David and Michael Urquhart.

Charity Bidding A private charity bidding will be conducted to determine the fortunate owner of this exceptionally rare Mortlach 70YO. All proceeds above the reserve price of $28,888 will be offered as a donation to Children’s Charities Association, Singapore.

Bidding is by invitation only and will end on 15th May 2011. For more information, please contact Fine Spirits by La Maison du Whisky at 67330059.
