I always pop by this outlet when i'm in Hougang mall. Bought a camera from there recently during a sale.

During sales, the goods here are really cheap. The price of the camera I bought here is akin to that at SLS which is quite competitive. Other than that, I like the option of purchasing extra warranty from HN (Before this camera, I have 2 spoilt ones).

Service wise, the sales assistants are quite friendly and not very pushy. I bought during the sale and some of the assistants seemed to be only around during the sale though they have sufficient product knowledge.

Computer and cameras wise, there are quite a lot. The other home electrical goods don’t seem to be as much. This outlet is not those super big 1.

Although Harvey Norman is just like any other electronics store, the service here blew me away.
Actually, I did not go to Jurong Point to shop. I was in Suntec City and Harvey Norman was having a sale. I must say they how to attract customers! :)
Anyway, I had just shifted to a new home then, so my family decided to get some new things for the home. We decided to buy a new washing machine as ours was old and although it was in good condition, hey, everyone needs some luxury sometimes!
I walked to the LG washing machine section and looked at the beautiful red washing machine-***-dryer with nice flower designs by a certain Korean artist. Curious about the energy consumption and steam technology of this beauty, I turned and asked the promoter, a pretty, young lady. She helped me by telling us of her own experiences with the machine, its pros and cons, and even gave us her phone number and asked us to call if we ever needed help. Not only that, she even showed us other models that were also good, too! Thankful, I enquired which Harvey Norman she worked at. It was none other than Jurong Point.
Later, I went to browse through some fridges. A tall young man approached me and kindly told me everything I needed to know. His enthusiasm moved me, so I bought the fridge, with the knowledge that I am buying something of high quality, thanks to him. He also works at Jurong Point!

I've visited the Hougang outlet mostly once a year when my juicer starts giving problems.

While I didn't have much to complaint about, I noticed that the staff who were assigned there didn't seemed very enthusiastic in serving customers.

The manager/ supervisor is slightly more attentive while the other staff were lazing around or some of them gave me the impression that they were not mentally alert i.e. blurr. I recalled that my hubby & myself had to probe them a few times before they got things done.

And last year, they made a mistake in handing us the wrong documents for an appliance bought (we took up some extended warranty plan) & we spotted it when we were about to leave the mall.

We went back to the store & the manager got things rectified & apologised. At least, they apologised. But I wouldn't rate their service as fantastic, it was jux average with room for improvement.

I have recently visited Harvey Norman at Hougang Mall. I am quite surprised by the traffic there. Maybe because hougang town has many residents there. I have noticed that the way they arrange their products are not in n orderly manner. Not sure is it because they are having great sale or clearance sale. The whole store seemed to be like those electronic store in Sim Lim. Many A4 sized papers pasting all over. See my pictures and you will know what I mean. The only thing I am quite stunned with is the price of their items. They offered $700 Choice voucher when you purchase the 42 inch Philips HD LCD TV at only $2299. Isn't that cheap?

I hardly visit Harvey Norman, except, of course, with the introduction of the Photo Centre.

It is always located outside any Harvey Norman store and clearly visible to any passer-by, designed to cater to anybody with the urge to develop photos and want it instantly.

Although they are touted to develop instantly, the person told me to wait five minutes. Thats fine, I said. However, the photos actually are developed after 10mins. So its not really instant. But close enough.

The promotions vary everytime, with promotions even changing several times a month. The current one is the free personalised 2009 calender with 50 4R prints, which is quite worth it. However, if you just want regular $R prints, they usually have promtions where 4R prints are priced at only 19cents.
