heard a lot of Hog's Breath but yet to try it till a few days again. The place was quite sparsely decorated with only a couple of customers. Looked through the menu and saw quite a variety of food. Decided to call a Garlic Mushroom Prime Rib and half a slab of the Baby Back Pork Ribs.
The Baby Bck Pork Ribs were quite nicely done and the amount was fairly large as well as it was served with fries and salad. As for the Garlic Mushroom Prime Rib, It was less than ideal though. Though the serving was large, the taste was not that fantastic. I had ordered for it to be cooked medium-rare, but the meat when served was overcooked and none of the tenderness it was supposed to have. In addition, there was none of the pinkish-red in the meat as well for meat that was expected of a medium-rare meat. This was definitely not comparable to that of Aston's.
I think I would not try Hog's Breath again in the near future, at least not in this outlet.
I went over to the restaurant at Holland Village with my colleagues during lunch hour to celebrate one of their birthdays. This outlet consists of 2 floors, with the ground floor having a bar. There's like 13 of us so we took the long table upstairs and it was freaking cold! Yah, it'll be good to bring a jacket along then. Haha
They do have a set lunch menu which provides a good variety of main course ranging from their famous grilled steak to salads. Soup and dessert are also included in the set. Compared to the ala carte menu, it's definitely value for money.
I have ordered grilled sirloin steak wih garlic mushroom sauce. Nice! Like the way they grilled the steak but wished that they would be more generous with the sauce. Another thing I like about their food is their Hog Tail fries. So crispy!
However, the pan-fried dory fish fillet wasn't so satisfying for one of my colleagues. Well, I guess since the place is famous for it's steak, one should really try that.
The meal was completed with a sinful indulge on the dessert - brownie with ice cream. Nice if you are someone with a sweet tooth. But the restaurant was very sweet to prepare a large brownie with ice cream and strawberries and even a lighted candle for our birthday girl.
Nice place for steak!
I was looking for a nice place for my sister's birthday when I came across Hog's Breath Cafe and they were having a 1-for-1 promo at that time.
After hearing from my friend how yummy their steaks were, I gave it a go and brought my family there for a meal!
We ordered a total of 6 dishes, with a variety of their famous steaks, chicken and a fish.
The service was great because there were less than 5 tables occupied when I was there. The waiters were meticulous when introducing the specials and the dishes to us. Ice water was also served and refilled promptly!
The food came shortly and we were really pleasantly surprised by their nice presentation.
The mexican wrap was really good, the filling was genorously given and I love the special sauce that goes along with it. The whipped potato was nicely done and the mushroom sauce for the steak is good.
Baby Back Ribs:
The ribs were tender & juicy! It has 8 ribs altogether and we had the Hog Tail Fries to go along with it. My family and I are totally in love with their fries! The taste is so good you won't get tired of it.
Reef Ranger Prime Rib:
This dish consist of a prime rib and 3 grilled prawns. The prawns were big and fresh. Rib was medium done, juicy and yummy!
Calamari w/ Prime Rib:
The calamari ain't fantastic to have much to rave about. I think their batter isn't that good as other restaurants have got to offer.
Pan Fried Sea Bass w/ Mango Chutney Sauce:
This dish is really refreshing with the mango sauce drizzled over the pan fried sea bass. The sea bass was fried till perfection and it tasted so heavenly with the sweet/sour mango sauce! Yum~
This is a chicken dish, with the chicken grilled and then eaten with a sweet mustard sauce. The sauce is very good.
Overall, Hog's Breath is a place worth to go for a catching-up meal with friends. After your meal, there's even a bar downstairs for you to have a drink! And with the 1-for-1 promo, we only paid a little over $100 for our meal.
