Terrible service. When I first arrived, I was at the front of the queue. Since I asked for a table for 5, I found it okay that I was asked to wait to let other smaller groups seated first. I ended up waiting for a long time to get a table.
Finally I was seated and handed a menu. Took a long time to get the waitress's attention. Took an even longer time for the food to arrive. I got seated at 7.15pm and the food arrived at 8.30pm. What made it worse was that the staff was messed up our orders with others.
Food wise, it was okay. Notable mention goes to the prawns. Though my appetite was ruined by the lousy service.

I tried out this restaurant on a busy Sunday afternoon. Located on the 6th floor, it could be really tiring taking the escalator up all the way, using the lift will be more convenient.
The restaurant is a casual dining outlet that specialises in Western seafood. That makes it a rival of Fish & Co. Prices are also similar between the duo.
One of Manhatten Fish Narket specialty is Fish & Chip, there is a choice of 3 different types of fish, with Dory fish being the most affordable at $8.90. Pay $4.90 more and complete your meal with a soup and Ice tea (choice of peach and lemon).
The Soup of the day was Cream of aspargus. The asparaus was sparse and there were squids in the soup. It was palatable but certainly not unforgettable.
The fish is served in a silver wok and comes with condiments of chilli, garlic and sour cream served in a seperate dish. The fish itself is fresh and deep fried to perfection thus leaving the batter crispy but not charred. On the whole, I think it is worth returning to taste its Fish & Chips again.
But the lemon tea was only mundane.
Besides seafood, you will also find pasta on its menu. But not having tried its pasta I am unable to comment on it.
At the end of the meal, Mentos sweets were given to customers after footing the bill.

i like manhattan fish market! their menu is almost identical to fish&co (hence the lawsuit), but i will say this is the more value-for-money version! i almost always eat their fish n chips, which is always satisfying and never disappoints me. at just $9.90, it is really worth it, as the huge piece of fish is served with a generous portion of tasty chips.
the seafood platter for two is a hot favourite among my frens as well. some of them have claimed that the prawns are more delicious here than over at f&c, cos they're more "burnt" and hence more flavourful!

I walked past Manhattan Fish Market a lot of times. It’s always long queue. My frenz who tried it before said its very nice. I dun really like Fish & chips, but my Dear Dear loves it.
So by chance, there was no queue at Plaza Singapura’s branch, we went in to have lunch.
Appetizers:
Mushroom soup - not too bad. Can still bite the blended mushrooms bits.
White Baits with Mayo & Coleslaw - GOOD. Crispy. I love the coleslaw below.
3 kinds of Dippers - Sour Cream, Chilli, and Garlic.
Main Dish:
Grilled Norwegian King Salmon Fillet - My Dear Dear skip his fave and ordered this. I m not a fan of Salmon, but my Dear Dear is. I like the fries. It’s fresh as in they fried in clean oil. & I think crispy not soggy fries.
Fettuccine with Fish & Squid - I like fettuccine and LOVE Squid, but not a fan of panfried fish, so I gave the fish to my Dear dear. I like the cream sauce. Thick and flavourful. The ingredients are fresh. :D
Price wise is the standard resturants range. So….. I will love to go there but I need to feel rich then I will go. :p

Dinner's at Manhattan Fish Market (Plaza Singapura)
Savouring seafood has become so affordable these days that diners do not need to confine themselve to only special occasions to have seafood. Among the numerous seafood restaurants, Manhattan Fish Market (MFM) and Fish & Co will immediately come to mind as they offer affordable and delicious seafood that caters to everybody need. MFM is always compare with Fish & Co, as they offer vastly similar menus; fish and seafood. Each has its own strength and weakness, read on to find out more..
MFM specialises in American-style seafood. Its product ranges from fish & chips to Garlic Butter mussels and Red hot whole fish. Manhattan fish & chips, flaming prawn patter, and Manhattan Seafood platter are among its signature dishes.
Fisherman's Giant fried patter ($36.90)
The patter consist fried shrimps, fish, calamari, mushroom with garlic rice and fries. The whole presentation of the food was done very nicely and looks tempting. There was 6 shrimps, with lots of fish, calamari, fries and a generous serving of the garlic rice. The shrimp was very delicious, calamari not too bad, fries well done, and i particularly like the garlic rice (although eating it made me very full). But the fish was a bit of a letdown. By the three of us, we could not finish the patter and left quite a fair bit of fish, fries and rice. For the price, i though it was quite reasonable with such a big serving.
Manhattan Fish & Chips ($9.90)
Manhattan's all time favourite, its fish & chips. We made the fatal mistake of ordering this; not that its not good, but we can’t even finish the patter and yet we ordered this dish. Wasting food is so sinful!! We though that the patter might not be enough for the three of us, so we order the fish to share. The rest you know is history, anyway we did manage to finish this fish, the taste was rather similar to the one i had in Fish & Co. In fact, if you have not tell me which is which, i almost can't tell them apart, mayb except of the size; the one at Fish & Co is too much bigger.
The waiter used a device to flame the sauce that was spread on top of the prawn for the seafood patter. I was rather tempted to order this dish just to see the waiter flame the prawns, but gui tried this dish before and commented that the prawn was burned and not very nice.
To conclude, i will say Manhattan Fish Market is on par with Fish & Co in my opinion. Price wise they are not too far apart, menu wise they offer quite similar items, taste wise i also though they are quite close. MFM had the spectacle flame show, but there is also the consequences that come with it, a strong gas smell around the restaurant. Total bill for three comes up to $66.60. Both MFM and Fish & Co are great place to dine, but after eating there i am thirsty!! They do not include any greens to go along with the main course, yes they do offer salads separately, but can’t they just include some greens in it? You know Singaporeans are getting more and more health conscious, cannot everything fried food : )

Whenever my friends and I go to Plaza Singapura, we will always be spoilt for choice and end up at Manhattan's Fish Market. Well, partly because it has a great reputatioN!
In a nutshell,
Staff-- Really friendly, Patient ( can put up with 10 girls asking for tartar sauce like 4 times?)
Bill-- I like the mentos in the bill haha
Ambience-- when there's not too many people its pretty nice.I get the fisherman feeling.Best corner is the one inside- TRY TO EAT THERE! But it's only open for dinner tho.
Food-- Set lunch is VALUE FOR $$. GOOD!!!
Especially the fish and Chips which is their signature dish.
Its 9.90 base cost and you get a soup which is usually shrimp paste ( i like ) but you can upgrade to clam chowder for around $1.50.. and a drink, hot/cold... their glasses for the cold drinks are super big la!
Food Review:
Fish and Chips:
Chips- not too oily. Sprinkled with red ground pepper which is really tasty
Fish- really crispy, although i feel that the batter is a tad overdone. Always get the really bloated feeling after wolfing down the fish. But well they say, bloatedness is HAPPINESS!
Baked Fish and Garden Herbs
- MUCH BETTER THAN FISH & CO! tell u guys man never go to fish and co and order that. It's not only more expensive but the fish is of inferior quality. YEP.. I remember the veins in the fish leeering out at meeee
- Not too filling and is a great health choice if you are really into veggies! i like it =)
Great hangout to go to if your budget is around $13 and above!
But CAVEAT
Dinner's pretty exp =X
As for the flaming platter, the rest have summed it up well!
YummIlicious!

I was actually introduced to this place by my gf because she is a fish lover. So we made our way down to try it on a nice couple date, 7th July 2007 (07072007). Contrary to its name, the Manhattan Fish Market (MFM) franchise actually originated from Malaysia in 2002 and its first outlet in Singapore is the one situated at Plaza Singapura. The first thing this restuarant brings to mind is its direct competitor, Fish & Co (F&C), which has been in Singapore for a far longer time than MFM. So how does its food really fare, you know the drill by now. Read On!
For serving only fish, the menu does contain a pretty good selection of items ranging from fish to mushrooms to squid and all manner of friendlies from the ocean. I have to say i was impressed with the service attitude of its staff from the moment i stepped in. They seemed a jovial and happy lot unlike some other establishments where their staff seemed to have been placed there with a gun to their backs. When we entered, it was rather early, around 6.30 pm, and were quickly shown to a couple seat found hidden to the right corner of the restuarant. It came with a tv and simple cushioned seats, but was sufficient nonetheless. The service staff were also very attentive and i never had to raise my hand for a glass refill. Very impressive indeed, especially when the crowds started to appear, my glass was still filled! Talk about service. Bravo!
Manhattan Seafood Soup - The Manhattan seafood soup was surprisingly tasty and full bodied. A single scoop can easily net you a spoonful of fish meat, crab, scallops and even a little squid! For $4.90, this really surprised me as i was expecting something much less worthwhile. A good way to start the meal.
Fried Country Mushrooms - My gf told me this was a must try dish at the place and i must say, its really very good. I couldn't quite make out if the mushrooms were shiitake or small portebello mushrooms but they were really juicy when you bit into it. The fried layer of batter was thin and crispy, coupled with the juicy and soft mushroom, it was just a match-made in heaven. ($9.90)
Hot Fiery Action!!! - Ordering a seafood platter also gives you a small demonstration of what the staff would do to your face if you tried to flee without paying. Nah, just kidding. He's just torching the layer of mayonnaise and cooking the prawn.
Seafood Platter for Two - The main event. This monster really did us both in. Well, me anyway, since i did most of the eating. Worth mention is the rice which tasted a little like Hainan Chicken Rice and as with all things in this restuarant thus far, simply fitted in well with everything. There were 3 fried oysters, 4 scorched prawns, dozens of squid , 1 huge piece of fish fillet and loads of fries and rice. Couples on a diet? Stay away!! But honestly, this was really good and the portion much bigger then what you can get from F&C. The squid was fresh and had a sour taste that whet your appetite and really mixes well with the rice. The oysters tasted like the mushrooms mentioned above and was simply great. The fish was normal and lacked anything i could complain about except that it tasted like any other fish fillet. The prawn and scorched mayo deserve mention. Definitely eat the mayo with the rice, its really good, i wonder if we could ask for more mayo next time. And the prawn with mayo is great, i could complain a little about freshness but for the price, its pretty decent. ($29.90)
Total bill came up to $52.60. Reasonable given the quality of food and service. I'll be back for more on this place.
I like the place. Reasonable price. Big servings. Good food. Laid back atmosphere. Great service. Which is more than i can say for some insanely priced hotel outlets. This is one place thats filling on the tummy and easy on your wallet. Do swing by for a meal if you are in the vicinity and like fish.
