The straits time has changes it front page !

THe straits time , i can say should be the best selling English newspaper in Singapore :D

If you are not quick , you probably won't get to read your paper .Because it will be sold out !

Almost , all my english teacher recommend me to read The Straits time to improve my english !!! that is how influentia it can be !

However, that are some categories which i find it useless to me... examples are the CLassified , Sport , Urban ..

Perhaps is because i am still student ...

well i guess i will get use to it once i entered the adult world .

one more thing is the online version is very confusing as the arrangement all of the page seem to be confusing !

I find this newspapers quite informative, with coverage on all aspects, be it sports, entertainment or politics. The news provided are also non-partisan and fair. The language is good and immaculate though there will be occasional erroneous spelling or grammar. All the information are also put together in a way that avert sensitive issues that may spark off a furore. However, I find that the newspaper company is somewhat controlled by the government as some of the content are geared towards the government's propaganda, motives and their 'laudable' achievements.

This is my faithful partner I bring along whenever I am in the toilet - My life will never be the same without it. All my daily dosage of information from around the world comes from here.

Sections of it that I particularly look forward to are:

Life Section - Here is where I get all the juicy gossip news of celebrities, and all the relevant cinema timings.

Sports - EPL, Champions League, NBA, F1, S-League (ok not exactly in the same class, but you get my drift)

Money - Investment tips, oil prices, market and stocks movement

Urban - Latest fashion tips on what's hot and what's not. Sometimes you get good tips on what to get for your female species.

Job Classified (Saturdays especially) - Looking for a job? Nothing beats this edition where you find out which industry is actively looking for people.

To end it off, nothing beats a copy of Straits Time on board the plane every time I travel back from overseas. AHhh... the familiarity of having the world under my feet.

The daily paper and holy grail of information. At least in Singapore, The Straits Times paper has been around for a rather long time, pretty much as old as Singapore itself. Now, this wouldn't be a big deal if the paper has not evolved throughout the years and basically, despite the information revolution and the internet, The Straits Times remains as relevant as ever.

The paper itself is seperated into multiple sections for easy reading. This basically seperates the paper into sections with Asean news, world news, Singapore, leisure and classifieds. All in all, its a wonderfully simple segregation which ultimately works well.

In particular interest to me will be the Money section, Life and the classifieds which more or less qualifies under the "actionable" category as opposed to the other sections which are mainly for information only.

Despite talks of the internet evolving the world into a paperless society, the Straits Times perservered and remains as ever, a necessity when having a nice cup of coffee in the morning.

          Well done.

Having read the newspapers since young, I found this to be information in certain areas. As it is a local news, the news are focused on local news although, not all news.

News about overseas have to be sourced from elsewhere and the online site provides only a certain number of free stories. The members have to pay a subscription if they want to read other news. A discount is given only to those who have a subscription to the print version too.

I find this an extra cost. Other news sites like New York Times, The Herald (UK), and BBC offer free RSS feeds for all news based on the categories.

It would be a better experience if RSS feeds are also offered so as to trim down reading time.

I enjoy reading the special edition digest that comes with Straits Times.

Digest like Digital Times, Urban and Mind Your Body are great addition which other papers fail to deliver.

Digital Times are available on Tuesday. This digest reports on the latest technology advancement in Singapore. How the internet and technology changes the way people live and interact with one another. A must read for me on Tuesday.

Urban caters more to the ladies. It feature tips on make up, fashion and great bargains. It's a sneak peek into the ladies world for the guys.

Mindy You Body as the name suggest gives you health tips on how to take good care of your body. Articles on major illness and how to detect them early are found in the digest.

Another I must read is the Saturday edition of Straits Times. There are ads from the major telecommunications company in Singapore with nice mobile phone and internet deals. This keeps me updated of the promotions different telecommunication company are having.

To avoid missing out my daily read, I decided to subscribe to the delivery service and have my Straits Times send to my door step every morning.

If you prefer to read your news online, you can always subscribe to their online version at http://www.straitstimes.com

My favorite newspaper where i feel connected to the world and Singapore.I like the strait times as there the world section, home, life and classified. It's full of facts and cover all the happenings around the world. One thing is that is is big and long thus making reading difficult while on the move.

It isn't expensive as well.I use it for my dog after reading it which is very useful too at least the paper still comes into good use after it's old and useless.
