The largest shopping centre in Orchard Road. Home to Takashimaya Dept Store, the only outlet in S'pore.
It offers many upmarket brands from Gucci, Prada, LV, Christian Dior, Burberry, Larry Jewellery, etc. This is one place you must visit if you are into branded goods. The other is Paragon.
The less well heeled could also find mid-range brand like Zara, Guess, G2000, Giordano,British India, etc.
It also has a wide range of eateries like Crystal Jade, to small eating booths in the Takashimaya FoodCourt in B2.
I like Ngee Ann City alot and I go there almost every weekend. Its good for everybody, even kids! I like the fact that it's for anybody, whether your budget is huge (You can shop around Chanel, Gucci, Bally, Louis Vuitton and Kenzo)
Or, if your budget is not so big, you can go to places like Mango, Harley Davidson, etc, etc, etc. Its a great place to hangout. With places like The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, KFC, and Mac Donald's, Crystal Jade, etc, it's suitable for any pallette. The food court is pretty good too. I especially like the Japanese food. There's also a great Bakery too!
Its the perfect place for foodies and fashionistas!
I never bored with Ngee Ann City, I love shopping at Takashimaya. They normally will have sales/fair at basement 2 and taka talk hall basement 1.
Of coz, lvl 4, Sanrio section is my favourite and must go every time Im there. I love browsing around Kinikuniya and can stay there for hours.
I realise also alot of shops in Ngee Ann City are more organised and fully stocked. I went to Giordano to get a pair of shorts, several shops i went to are out of stock or no size. Here a few times, i managed to get what i want and also the shop is more tidy then the rest.
They have alot of varieties of food at the basement too. I can shop half a day there, even whole day when there are sales going on.
I used to come here very often, for the National Library at level 5. But now, its gone and so I have come less often.
But the cold storage at basement is still my favourite. It allows credit card payments (most of the other cold storage only accepts the HSBC Choice card) and it has my favourite kimchi and japanese foodstuff.
I like the Korean food store outside Cold Storage. They have the Korean nian gao. I tried once at a restaurant and it simply had no taste. This one was good, at least the spicyness is acceptable to me.
The basement atrium is another good one. They have different themes every now and then, like the mooncake festival and sometimes I get to find toys and cushion I like.
I got to say I love this place! There's my favourite kinokuniya, guess and also a wide range of food! Besides, there are also expensive brand which I can only look at, although I'm not really interested in those, but no harm looking. Great for serious shoppers!
Ngee Ann City is convenient as it is smack right in the middle of orchard road.So it's accesible by the underpass to Wisma,Lucky plaza,Paragon etc etc..I will not say it has everything but there are many varieties of shops to choose from for Dining there is Crystal Jade,Kfc,Macdonalds,Delifrance to name a few.For entertainment there's gramophone,Kinokuniya,The library. For shopping there's Fox,Guess,Levis,WH etc..However it can be boring there as well if you've been there too many atimes.Cos you've practically walk everywhere.
It's always bustling with people every evening especially on weekends. They do have sales like midnight shopping and great singapore sales.Other times it will be quite expensive to purchase anything cos as it is in town area it's quite hard to get a lower price for things.
I won't say that this place has everything to offer. It has a huge bookstore, great for readers of all genres. There are also some art stores at the higher levels, with specific art materials to be found. There are the fast food centres and food outlets around the place; however, apart from these shops, the rest are more of high-end boutiques like Hugo Boss and Armani Xchange, or slightly cheaper (relative) alternatives like Zara. Perhaps if you're searching for cheaper things, NAC is not exactly the place to go. Perhaps neighbourhood shopping malls would be better.
