This is the seventh hairdresser (Tony Young Hairdressing)I have tried since arriving in Singapore one year ago, and is the best by far. I had colour by Dan Li, which was fabulous. She was very honest with what she could and coudn't do for me (I was having a bad colour job fixed). On top of that, the salon itself is the most welcoming and friendly salon I have been to in Singapore. None of this 'too cool for school' attitude that you get at lots. They are really professional and treat you like a customer, rather than someone they are just 'dealing with'! They do offer you a complimetary full menu of drinks.I am going back to get my hair cut by Dan Li.
Brilliant salon, very good atmosphere and very professional. They are lovely and very funny people - I will be going back
Tony Young gave me an excellent, in-depth, initial hair consulation and he understood exactly what i was concerned about and what I wanted. He made sure to tell me what would and what wouldn't suit me when I suggested hair ideas. He cares about how the client will look weeks after their haircut, so he will only create a hairstyle that can be realistically maintained (yet still looking good).
The result was a gorgeous short, structured bob with a side fringe. It immediately 'brought out' my facial features and made me look like a sophisticated laydeee.I loved it, and ever since I have been receiving a stream of compliments from friends ( and even strangers) about how much they love my hair.I must add that the hairstyle - while looking great - is also easy to maintain. No products/hours blowdrying etc. I am a very satisfied client and will definitely be going back.
I have really curly hair that's incredibly hard to manage, so I started going to Tony Young Hairdressing and have never looked back! He is an absolute perfectionist and nothing short of a fashion stylist. The staff are great, the salon is clean and tidy. My hair always looks great and does so for a good 6 weeks afterwards. I would recommend this salon if you have hard to manage hair or are looking for something a bit out the ordinary. It's a fantastic hairdressers! Needless to say, worth the money.
swengseng: can you recommend your hairdresser? You say he is ten time cheaper and better than Tony Young. I want to bring my dog there for a hair-cut.
I have been to Tony Young since they opened in June 2009, and its not as bad as you commented, comparing it to a $6 haircut. Tony is diligent and careful with his scissors. He takes atleast 90 munutes, where most other hairdressers takes half the time. Its being meticulous that sets him apart from other hairdressers.
If there is a problem thrash it out, dont flame and then run.
I agree with senen. I've been there a couple of times. In fact, friends that have been there enjoy the service as well as the excellent hairdo. A word of advice, if you are seeking an ordinary hairdo from Tony, then my dear friend, you looked for the wrong hairstylist.
To swenseng... has it ever crossed your mind that how you are being treated is merely a mirror image? Think about that.
Just to share, getting a hairdo is not like buying a new piece of clothes. Do not expect to get an EXTREME makeover with just one hairdo as in reality this is not the case. Hairdo that makes you look like brad pitt or charlize theron with just ONE hairdo will not last as the underlying hair-structure is not properly formed.
To those out there who would like a healthy, not to mention excellent hairdo... I feel you must give Tony a try.
i have been to Tony Young several times now. The service there is outstanding. You comments are incongruent and illogical. You are not here to air your views, but to villify someone. You sound like a competitor or his enemy.
Tony has spent considerable time and money and has over 15 years experience in haircutting in London. He was awarded the best student in Vidal Sassoon Academy. I dont think all of this comes from someone who is egoistical and unprofessional as you mention.
I dont think anyone will buy your story. If its that lousy, go and talk to Tony. He will fix it. Comments at cozycot.com show that Tony is good, infact real good at what he does. You seem to be off tangent.
I've had haircuts ten times better that were ten times cheaper than his salon.
Tony young divulges himself in his ego, providing a service that is of a low standard, whilst singing praises to his work. He ignores the requests and demands of a customer, and is unprofessional. The thinning and layering done were non-existent, and although he does not believe in thinning scissors, the skill of using of normal scissors to thin were not up to standard.
I would not recommend that anyone patronizes him, or even entertains him.
