I don't know what's the difference between Ichiban Boshi and Ichiban Sushi. What I know is that they're very nice!
Nice restaurant! And nice sushi! You can search for my review on Ichiban Sushi and you will know how much I love Ichiban Sushi's sushi (that's repetition). Their unique sushis.. Their nice sauce (and even wasabi)..
Ichiban Boshi is no different. Well I don't know.. They have some set menus.. Maybe that's one thing different from Ichiban Sushi? I didn't eat the set lunch though. I love the sushis too much.
Service is good. Waiters/waitresses can speak English well (this is important for Chinese-looking people whose Mandarin command is super poor or non-existing at all. Namely, me) and comes fast when you call them. Even when you want just a refill for your hot ocha (my favourite!).
Place is spacious. It's not really crowded when I came though.. I don't know what really happens in meal hour. If you'd like to eat just the sushi (or staring at the conveyor belt.. Or staring at some cute young chefs in the middle of the conveyor belt...) you can sit at the high chairs available. Not really comfortable, but suitable if you're in a hurry (or as I said.. You want to stare at the cute young chefs. Hehehehe).
Food is reasonably priced. Quite expensive, maybe, but really worth every cents.

They serve pizza and pasta, but not regular pizza and pasta. They have numerous unique sauces. Their signature is called Mad Sauce (well.. I think it's just ordinary tomato sauce though...). They have rendang as one of the ingredients in pizza, if I'm not wrong. Well you can always go to their website to see their current menu.
The food is prepared fresh from the oven. Literally. The kitchen is at the middle, surrounded by the tables. You can always see the chefs at work. And you can see the ovens too! Hahaha. Their waiters/waitresses are quite friendly; they can even suggest you some food based on your favourite (they will ask questions like "Do you like beef? Or chicken? Do you like creamy or a bit oily?").
Oh they also have live music. It's a one-man band. He sings retro songs. Oh and sometimes the owner of the restaurant sings too!
However, I think the price is too high. It's like 10 dollars on average. Yes the food is nice, but I still think it's too highly-priced, particularly when you just have such a small place (which leads to the logic that the rent shouldn't be that expensive, right?). They're currently expanding though. Maybe that explains.
Had this place priced their food cheaper, I would have gone here everyday. It's so near to my home! (no prize for guessing where I live)

Contrary of the previous reviews, I go to this restaurant often and like it! I think the chicken is very good and tasty. Especially the chili! I think it's very fragrant and tasty. One other type of food I (and my boyfriend.. he likes it a lot too) usually order is the fried tofu. It's so delicious, especially the skin. I bet the skin has some special recipe..
Well yeah sometimes it's not that good though. I guess it's just how lucky we are when we come. We once came and the chicken served to us was nothing but bones! Okay, exaggerated, but there were many bones..
It's suitable for eating with a large group of people since their portion is quite big and pricey. You will see many families eating here.
However I agree that service can be kinda sucky some time. They should stop hiring people with no English command at all. With my poor Mandarin understanding and the waiter/waitress' poor understanding of sign language (hahaha), it's quite a mess. Well sometimes we're lucky though, we can get the staff that speaks English (usually they wear black and gold attire.. Watch out) and get served very well.
I still think it's good though.. Just bought my friends to eat there few days ago and they really like it.
I'm a big fan of this cake shop! Even though it's small and kinda hidden in the food court, the cakes are extraordinary and heavenly.
Cakes are kept fresh in their cooling display. They're very attractive! And I just love the packaging. They will give you the cake box and the cake-cutting knife plus the large carrier. It was so easy to bring it back home. The aunties at the stall are also very friendly..
And of courseeeeeee the cake is so heavenly! I bought the cheesecake with oreo base and top, decorated by fresh fruits and white chocolate slices. It was so good! The cake is quite sticky but it's nice! It's not "dry". And the oreo as the base and top is a very deadly combination! A bit sweet, a bit bitter, but nice overall!
This shop stays as my regularly visited shop whenever I need cakes for any occasion.
Beads and Ends is a blogshop selling handmade jewelries including necklaces and earrings. Materials primarily used are imported from US, including non-tarnish wire and swarovski crystals. Even with this excellent quality, beadsandends' price is very affordable.
The owner is very friendly. Once met her during SMU bazaar. Went to the bazaar to pick up my stuff that I ordered online. So funny.. She politely asked me whether I can come to SMU bazaar instead to pick up so that I can waive my postage charges. Of course I agreed. It's like, my school. Hahahaha.
Neeway, during bazaar she was selling hundreds (or maybe more) cheap earrings. Only $2.50 for each pair! Even though they're cheap, as I said she only uses excellent materials and shows excellent wirework skills. Bought many pairs that time to give to my sisters. Hehe.
One flaw though. I hope the website will be more neatly designed. Some banners put are not in equal sizes and some positions are weird.. Also I wish she will put constant and consistent tags/categories to make searching particular jewelry easier.
However all in all, it's a very good blogshop. Check it out.
Snowlights is a good blogshop! Ade creates beautiful jewelry with excellent workmanship yet with a very affordable price! Bought my earrings under $10 and it looks as good as $20 earrings.
I love her wirework! It's so pretty and intricate.. She's already made many unique-shaped jewelry with interesting wirework. (See her website to see...Hehehe) She throws in many cute little things to adorn the jewelry. Butterflies, leaves, picnic basket, and many more.. Totally unique.
The owner is very friendly and will give personalized service. This is important, you know! I find many online shops with "adding to cart" option seems kinda cold and not engaging.. Oh she also wraps the package nicely and gives instruction to care the jewelry (hand-signed by her.. Personalization!).
And have I mentioned that they're cheap?? For excellent wirework and unique juxtaposition of little bits, the price is really a good value.
This place had been hidden from my view since I first stepped foot on Serangoon Circle, until I saw the reviews here. The shop front looks rather run down and the signboard outside was too old for anyone to take notice of its existence. The windows were covered with white lace curtains, and if you don't take notice of the signboard, most probably you'll miss them too.
When I first stepped into the restaurant, I was amazed at how they managed to continue in such a retro unit. It looks as if you're dining in a run-down 70s restaurant. Even the staff there are retro.
Not knowing what to order, we ordered the set lunches. There were 2 types of pricing, one at $7 and the other above $12. We each ordered one from each of the menu. He got himself the grilled fish and chips set lunch that comes with dessert and drink. I ordered the pepper steak set that comes with soup of the day, ice cream and drink. (The drink served was in kiddo size. Luck they serve ice water too.)
When the soup was served, I knew we made a wrong choice for lunch. The soup was too diluted and it tasted more like water than thick soup.
My steak was served first. The serving was acceptable but the taste just didn't quite meet my expectation. The two other steakhouses around Serangoon Circle. Next came the fish and chips. Oh boy, was my boyfriend disappointed. One word to describe it - tasteless.
The only thing that somehow surprised us was the dessert that came with the cheaper set lunch. It's their own version of muah chee with coconut. Usually muah chee is eaten with chopped peanuts and sugar. So it's quite interesting to taste it with coconut instead.
I'm probably not going to return. There's just too many choices available around the area.

I've to agree with HisFoodBlog that EN Japanese Dining Bar is one of the best I'd been to by far. Serving the freshest sashimi and to-drool-for authentic cuisine.
This was the first time I tried the Beef Carpaccio. At first sight, I didn't dare touch it. But since its ordered, I just went ahead and dared myself. After the first slice of beef, I wanted more! It was thinly sliced and blended well with the seasoning on the beef. Although a tad too saltish, but still great one to devour on.
As the dishes ordered were more or less those recommended above by HisFoodBlog, I shall just share one more, which is another surprisingly yummilicious one.
The Unagi Fried Rice is most probably the only thing I will order if I should be going back there again. (Cos the price tag there is just not friendly enough for my thin wallet.) The fried rice is very fragrant and the rice grain is the real good stuff. Unlike the usual fried rice, I had at other Jap place, this is solid and slightly chewy too. The Unagi although cut to rather tiny pieces, I could still feel it when I chew on the mouthful of rice and unagi.
Great place to go for good quality Jap food.
(*Please take note that EN Jap dining bar is located along M.Sultan road, before reaching the left turn at Obar. Thanks to the incomplete directions given, when I was there, I couldn't find it within UE Square building. :S)
Beauty, body and hair care at its cheapest! This is the place to go for cheap cheap toiletries, beauty products, hair and body products and even perfumes.
Located in the heart of Ang Mo Kio, you might missed this gem as its hidden among the rows of shops along the main shopping lanes. The only thing that might help make it stand out is the pink sign board and lots of bottled shampoos neatly arranged outside of the shop.
The shop carries most of the brands, such as Loreal, Biore, SK2, and many others. But their prices are the most competitive. Giving the bigger pharmacies and shops a chase for their money.
For instance, the Loreal Facial gel and toner I bought. Usual price for the gel is $6 and the toner is around 10 . At Pink Beauty, the gel cost $4.50 and the toner cost only $6.20! I also bought 2 tubes of Biore Facial Scrub. U.P. $6 at NTUC and Watsons. But at Pink Beauty, its only $2.10! REAL Cheap right?
So now you know where to go for your beauty products ya? ;)
I think everyone knows this lone building standing in the field next to the huge balloon in Bugis area. It has a pretty famous alfresco steamboat joint too.
I had the chance to go to this budget hotel when my friend from the US stayed there. Despite the exterior looking a little run-down, the inside was fine.
The walls of the small lobby were adorned with old photographs and old newspaper clippings about the hotel. The room my friend is staying in costs SGD60 a night. It is a little small but still comfortable with its double bed. However for that price he had to use the common bath which he found to be rather clean. (He's an expert when it comes to budget accomodation.)
In fact, he had so much confidence in the place, he told us that he wanted to switch to the SGD18 per night room where he would have to share with 3 other people. They had two bunk beds there and it's still very clean.
What he was most impressed with was the good condition of the lockers and the hot and cold showers in all the bathrooms. The service was also friendly and we had a good chat with the staff whilst we were visiting.
With the good location and reasonable prices, I really find this hostel worthwhile. Moreover, it wasn't sleazy and felt very safe to live there.
