    81. Value Nails

Your nails can't look more valuable until you've got yourself foiled at Value Nails. Yes, they retail nail foils aka sticker for your nails yet must more lasting and with more a fashionable taste in design, texture and application.

Spotted them at one of the flea market and got a free trial on my fore finger... I was pleasantly surprised at how fast the application was and how perfect it looked post application. All she did was choose an appropriate size, stick it on and file the excess off with a filing stick and TADAH..... your nail is dressed in style... Smooth and perfect prints on my nails... with that i took a closer look at the hundreds of designs placed in front of me.

5 for $10, made me wanna buy more than 5.... with designs so pretty.. i don't know where to start... So i started with geometrical prints, then to the polka dots and stripes, floral designs, lace looking prints, characters and lastly 3D designs that pops out with a texture....

I took a long time selecting for the right print, yet all seemed to look right for me... coz its so simple to apply, i could change my designs everyday or every other day.... Just think about how hip my nails will look.... So i scratched my head and went into the agony of controlling myself not to buy every one design that i get my eyes on.. i guess maybe about 500 stacks of designs on the table.

Good thing the helpful staff was there to save the day. Though a tall, strong looking gentleman, he's pretty much an expert in these nail prints. He could intro me the special designs and the ones he held up are looking pretty amazing, such I took almost all he recommended and was in a happy frenzy mood afterwards.

When i got home, i started the sticking regime, its simple, just stick on and file off, however its not really easy to do it single handedly, so i would propose a friendly girl pal to do it with you. A good tip i got from the staff, always stick straight and make sure no bubbles, then the nail foil will last for the longest time.. Most importantly, no aggressive scratching or trying to pick staples off your documents... no nail art can take these punishing drills..... love yourself, look beautiful and buy some nail foils :)

For sure this is one of my favourite tee-shirt shop... Love the thin and durable material, love the cool prints and the one of the kind designs. I can confidently say that the merchandises Urban Street Culture carries invoked my long lost love for tee-shirts and I'm loving to wear them much more than ever.

I met them in a few flea events but as unpredictable flea events these days are, everytime when i see the shop I will make sure i get at least one top for myself. Its the surprise factor that added to the interesting prints you can find in the racks and racks of neatly stacked bubble tees. Like meeting with a long lost friend, Mike the owner could always remember what I bought previously and he's also been an inspiration to me.

The Tees are very reasonably priced, material durable with plenty of nice smooth prints. Yes, the prints are good for machine wash and tees not drool colours during wash. Thin and very comfy to wear with a good range of sizes that fits most asian men and women.

They do carry a good range of rock and roll metal band branded tees, cartoon characters with a funny twist as well as famous brands and our childhood logos. Good thing they do have a permanent store at Orchard Central so if you really wants some tees you could find them there otherwise online, try to email mike or try your luck at fleas :)
Super love their lovely tees :)

The amazing Isetan supermarket finally arrived in the heartland of the west side of Singapore. I was super excited to have found it as the Isetan shop front at the ground level is a bad gauge of the actual size of this departmental store.

One level down is a whole level of household, lifestyle goods, children toys and fashion while another level down you get to shop at a full fledge jap supermarket, complete with good quality sashimi and during weekends boosting lots of food stalls. I love to buy, walk and eat and especially in love with Japanese food.

The entire supermarket is well spaced and neatly arranged with a good choice of many cooked food and I must say very reasonably priced. Theres sashimi of all kinds, sushi and even Bento boxes for you to buy back. Grilled food, tempura, yummilicious salads are also plentiful and as I browse away, I saw something pretty conspicuous.

I saw these 2 guys sitting at a pavilion look alike counter in the middle of nowhere drinking beer and eating sashimi... I mean can they eat before paying? and they seemed to look so relaxed. I went nearer for a closer inspection and realised there indeed is a mini island bar that can house a band of 10-15 brothers. They serve wine, alcohol and other beverages while you could enjoy your supermarket sashimi there. Didn't really find out how they charge, yet i think its a great idea.

Nearer to the door are some pavilions which houses what look like temporary stores. One selling snacks like black beans, grilled octopus and many more interesting side dishes, i couldn't help but got myself a box of grilled squid and it was superlicious. For $7/100g, I was given quite alot of squid. It was chewy but not tough, juicy and tasty. I also bought for myself a box of tempura mushrooms but it was not nice at all. First it was cold, then soggy and limp.... rather tasteless... So well, choose wisely... everything raw is good but deep fried is cold and not tasty.... Never buying another deep fried thing there again unless its right out from the kitchen :)

The place is wonderful and I'm sure to go back....

We were excited to meet Puppymoo at the No Man's Land Event held on the 1st / 3rd wednesday every month.

Offering a free service of glitter tattoos on anywhere of your body, the queue was way too long as the night gets later, however wait i must wait. So you choose a motif then she cleans your skin and put on some non-toxic skin glue, motif on and then glitter powder... The process was superquick and very cleanly done. It last a few days on the skin minimum if you don't so often try to scratch it off. While on ankles it can last up to 2 weeks, perhaps coz we don't scratch our ankles so often. So i took a card and browsed at her site and I was amazed by the unique products Puppymoo carries on her online shop.

There are a few really interesting products and I must say some so great for children's party. Besides the non-toxic and child safe glitter tattoos that every princess loves, theres also water based nail polish which I have never heard off. The products were amazingly unique and hardly found anywhere else in Singapore. I love the service, love the concept and the interesting products. If you are looking for interesting party ideas, puppymoo is definitely the place to go to...

Head on down to the PuppyMoo Site and surprise your friends with something unique and interesting... It gives the oomph to make your parties a WOW event.

He caught my eye when his wallets starts to flame and I vowed I smelled zippo fluid or some relates that to the smell of burnt dollar notes... I mean who on earth would set their wallets on fire except to prevent their wives from over spending during a shopping spree... So while he moved nearer to me, i placed my bag behind me.... *Burn me first before you touch my wallet....*

I am always excited to meet a MAGICIAN... they never fail to wow me with their fast moving hands to make that dollar bill disappear or the pick a coin from my ear and your ear and his ear and from somebody-else's buttocks. Yes, this was not what tommy does. Matter of fact, his illusions are always laced with lotsa smoke... as our first handshake make him smoked out of his coat sleeves, so it either I'm SMOKING HOT or he is just leaking smoke!!!

Tommy has real fast hands... I mean it in a constructive way... He's engaging and have a good sense of humor. While he did some close up magic that made me wanna shut the Awing Mouths of his audiences, the performance on stage made the whole hall of people amazed. Its Fun, Amazing and Astonishing...

Being professional and creative in his tricks, Tommy indeed wowed many with the simple props and casual approaches.... It made me feel like I've made a friend that is fun, makes me laugh and keeps me away from boredom. Though he couldn't make me disappear *most likely because i'm wearing a bulky body* yet he made my worries disappear like the smoke that leaked from his sleeves. Its a wonderful experience and sure did lighten up a serious looking party with many men in suits... otherwise a starched face. :)

I was delighted to have encountered the services of Blissful Studios at one of our partner's event. They put up a themed background with a booth-full of props at the entrance of the event while Guest, Friends and Staffs get to pose with many of their cutsy props, secretly hiding the drunk look on their faces.

Yes.... with these popup photo booths, we do get a good before and after look... Before event, everybody with the near to perfect makeup and hair looked poised for pictures and the after look is usually decked with masks, hats and a fake smile to cover the drowsy looking expressions. (I'm kidding... haha). The props seriously up the fun factor for the entire event and leaves a lasting physical memory, something for you to bring home to look at, drool at and throw darts on, whichever that you fancy. Met a new friend that you pretty like, you could always drag him or her out to take a pic and keep a pic to pose on your FB, tag and have something to say to him/her for the longest time.

Service is quick, from choosing your props (if you are picky then you hold up the queue) to posing for a picture with 4 quick shots and collection of photos take about 5 mins plus minus, depending on crowd and how long you guys take to pose. But within the end of the event, you are sure to have your pictures matched to your faces and given to you in a cute memorabilia photo holder.

The Blissful Studio team is an efficient and effective team with friendly and smiley staffs that did a great job from the setting up of the booths to the clean tearing down. Though i didn't see the setting up, I've spied them tearing down with my drunk right eye and the packing up was quick and clean... I was impressed and be sure to engage them at our other events. My favourite prop would definitely be the smiling mouth.... it helps when i've got veg stucked between my teeth... :)

It has been ages since I've stepped into the Japanese Garden and while the many years of being a gym hamster didn't help in losing an ounce, I've decided on something drastic like outdoor jogging and exploring my neighborhood. Yes.. I might just be the weird one that had never been to one of the most scenic and talked about park in SG while my 30 years of staying right next to it only causes me to be amazed from afar by the beautiful scenery.

Set next to Chinese Garden and watered mainly by the Jurong Lake, this iconic Japanese Garden have got 2 entries, one from Chinese Garden Mrt and another at the other end where the carpark is. Extremely accessible, clean and conducive for children, seniors and handicapped friendly. Restrooms are available as well as plenty sitting spaces such as park benches and huge shelters that could house about 20 people.

The space apparently looked like a bird sanctuary while my early weekend jog was accompanied by a merry groups of photographers chatting away and demoing their spanking new equipment under some shelters. Bird enthusiasts and photography hobbyist gathered on a grassy space with their tripods and quietly watching, while my heavy running footsteps was almost thumping their target of affections.
I spotted some speakers that emitted bird sounds which is harmonized by the array of insect callings and real bird singing.

Theres really alot of arc bridges, streams and japanese garden art like stone gardens and carefully maintained bonsai. The place is exceptionally beautiful and I'm glad i explored this park as I'm sure to visit it more often. Its an eventful morning no doubt the one mosquito bite. Yup theres a good load of bugs yet one bite is good for a mozzie attractor like me.

Only joggers and walkers allowed, no cyclist or any form of fast rolling transport equipment. The park is only opened till 7pm, so its more of a morning and afternoon thing. Theres also an event area that is open for booking that overlooked the Jurong Country Club over the other side of the river. Its a nice space to hang with your family. The park is naturally cool and clean, perhaps is the many shades and luscious vegetation. Yar.. its free to go, no entrance fees required.

Have you ever entered the lift and realised the fragrance you used "that most likely have worn off with aging" have became stronger? Then you realised somebody else is wearing the same label as you are and it kinda smells better on her!!!
*DARN* You just had a perfume CRASH!!! and I hated that!!!

They say scent triggers the memories much more than visual impacts as its the highway to your subconscious. This is where Freda D Parfum is the saviour to our lasting impressions and unique personalities. Freda D has got 3 generations of perfumery heritage, making oils and analysing parfum concoctions is as much a passion as its in her blood. Now holding 7 signature scents with much more to come in the near future, Freda D is who you will go to for that tailored fragrance.

I was excited to meet the couple behind this upcoming brand at a flea event in which the backdrop itself is more of a Jaw Dropper... Elegance and memorable are 2 words i would use to describe their showcase. I tried the many scents they have, each with a distinctive theme and carried varied notes of floral, citrus, spice and fruity sweets while I fell in love with something called SEXY!

While they generously allow me to try it on my skin, the scent lasted for a long time, might i say about 8 hours in a hot sunny day and lingered on my clothes after one wash with detergent. All scents are housed in a sleek glass bottle that is easy to carry around in bags and in a beautiful gift box if you meant it as a gift, priced afford-ably so many can own a special scent, yet they are not readily available at your common departmental stores which is what made them so rare . I love the handy carry around bottles as I usually get sick of the fragrance before i could complete it especially when it sits in a 100ml bottle and turns yellow..... * i always wonders why*

Made with passion and loads of experience, if you want a signature scent or to customize a signature scent, Freda D Parfum is the one to look for. Can you imagine your own signature scent at your wedding, instead of a family portrait, you have a family fragrance.

I was lured by a cute elephant lazing in a mini make-shift garden-like hideout encased in a spherical glass jar that mimics the beautiful outback. Looking at it makes me feel at ease and I kinda want this kind of feeling especially when i'm trapped in a concrete jungle 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. So while i considered, other mini garden's caught my eye... landscaped with various small cactuses and fauna, these green little gardens are my little escape in my well airconditioned cubicle and according to the friendly booth owner, little care is needed for their survival.

Taking care of these living gardens are rather simple, just water once a day and occasional busking out in the sun, will make they strong and healthy. Love the various designs and you could also collect the whole theme. Being Beautiful and creative with nature is not a simple affair. You not only got to get it to look pretty, the soil and foundations should be properly placed, its still a living thing though it doesn't speak and have not expressions.

Somehow i feel good being close to nature, perhaps its why the first ever job on earth by ADAM is being a gardener. Pricing for these glass terrariums are affordable. Its slightly more costly then a pot of plant because its painstakingly landscaped. Love the concept and the pretty creations and will buy more for gifts as cactus especially is great in absorbing vicious computer radiation.

Lets green our cold and lonely cubicles... lets start giving life :)

    90. F1 Pit Flea Market
       14 May 2014 at 11:21 am
    Leenie Pigs Leenie Pigs says:

This was one of those fun fleas that somehow took away the seriousness fleas have become in competitive Singapore. Though we could feel a little frustration in the air with vendors trying to justify the time, effort and money put into setting up a booth where little shoppers turn up, but somehow a strange thing took place. Vendors started making friends with their neighbours, sharing business tips, products, battering goods and buying from each other just to encourage one another.

I hear laughter, see smiles and people encouraging each other. Now thats the spirit of entrepreneurship. Who says business is all a bed of roses but when difficulties arises, we make friends and find strength in each other to move forward.

I see sparks of creativity and loads of fun! I met this group of siblings who named themselves JS Cup Cakery, a home baking business with Nutella as their bake theme dressed in a blue t-shirt with large printing of JS, later i met their mom, dressed in that same blue t-shirt feeling all proud of her children. This bunch had support from their friends and relative and love their marketing gimmicks, not only they decided to walk around dim sum style selling their bakes, one even waved their board high while roaming the event place.

We also found some exquisite vendors like GrazieOnline.com selling handmade baby stuffs with prints so cute and bibs so pretty that will make babes look too adorable. More creative stuffs include table top mini garden that is carefully landscaped in glass jars, themed with petite animal figurines made available by Glass Garden.

So after we found some crazily fun vendors and some artisan vendors, while walking through the long line of tables, we smell something alluring, unfamiliar yet exotic... There we are stopping by Freda'D Parfum, listening to the story of how the art of perfumery is being passed down by two generations above to the 2 bosses helming this brand. We tried the various self concocted fragrances and love the thought of clashing at similar fragrance during meetings.
But if you would love some really classic off the shelve scents, there's always Purrfume Nation that brings the best bargains in famous fragrances.

Its surprising how many home bakers we have and i simply love the fact that so much effort is taken into making their merchandises so pretty. Though the location sucks, the marketing could have been done better to draw more crowd and organizers putting in more effort in making the event perform better, one thing i must say...

You vendors ROCKS!!! There were super few big players, almost none and most vendors are new start-ups with plenty of great products, ideas and creativity in store, I am totally blown off! Haven't had so much fun at a flea market since ages!!! So i'm giving all 3 stars to you happening vendors. Keep up the good spirits and your great business ideas... you can make anywhere HAPPENING!!!
