decadent salad   catch of the day   laksa pasta   p1010024.jpg
    This is so long overdue!!!

My first time trying foie gras

Managed to get a good spot to sit n dine comfortably..away from prying eyes(aside from those eyes frm passerbys outside)..

Ordered a decadent salad, calamari, the fish of the day)(dory) and a laksa pasta.

My drink was root beer but not the typical anw or mug..but a unique one in a cool bottle(forgot to ask to take home the bottle tho)..

Decadent salad was good..i was a bit wary when trying the foie gras but instantly liked it..dont think i can handle too much tho..salad was good, fresh, not too much dressing. delish.

Calamari was good too.Batter wasnt too thick, wasabe mayo wasnt didnt taste very wasabe-like though..liked it..

My fish was alrite..liked the dressing alot..tasted unique and went well with the fish. Think it was a mix of tomatoes, nuts. Fish was a bit small though..
The parmesan toast was my favourite.

Friend's pasta was alright. Not really fantastic. Tasted a wee bland.
Tried one prawn and it was quite good.

Was lookin Forward to trying the dessert platters but it was way over closing time so we had to leave...

Will definitely return for more decadent salad and the dessert platters..

img_0035.JPG   poori   butter chicken   tandoori cheese prata
For once i had this craving for Indian food but not the briyani or typical roti prata kind but the tandoori/butter chicken, piping hot garlic naan kind.
My makan buddy was recommended this eating hole by her colleague so we met up and ventured to this "new territory" for some indian nosh..

Was deciding between the cheese naan and the tandoori cheese prata and choze the latter as well where else can you find a tandoori cheese prata.
Garlic naan was ok..quite soft and not to hard or too chewy like some naans.
    I liked the prata.
It was not crunchy yet chewy.
Cheese was ok..tink it would be nicer if they used shredded mozarella/cheddar instead of the cheesedale cheese they used..
    but i still liked it

Butter chicken is a must, it was delicious.
Spicy and good, the spices can really be tasted.

The Chicken 65 which was juz the tandoori chicken deep fried was nice too.
Crispy and not very oily,i was happily eating my chicken.

The Kadai mutton tasted like the kurma my gdad makes but better.
Liked how the mutton was not hard and "melted" in my mouth. Kept dunkin my poori n the breads in the gravy of the butter chicken and the kadai mutton.

The chilli fry gobi aka cauliflower fried with chilli was delish.
Im not a cauliflower person(prefer broccoli) but it was really cooked well with the chilli.
It was piping hot as they cooked it after we ordered it and if i hadnt been distracted by the meat i wouldve eaten more of it.

    My poori was good.
    Light and quite crispy.
Ikept eatin it with the gravy of the kadai mutton n butter chicken. Went really well.
Neglected the masala it came with which was ok.
Not too spicy so i didnt pay much attention to it.

    Service was good.
The manager/owner was walkin arnd n checkin on the customers, most were there for a good dinner, beryani n the likes.
    Looked pretty good.
The staff were patient and helpful and prompt when asked for anything, be if a drink or questions abt the food.

I ordered the chilli chicken, butter naan and another tandoori chez prata for my mom.
Chilli chicken was super spicy but ok.
    Still prefer the butter chicken.

    Now i must highlight something.
When ordering chicken. Do go for the boneless options.
It is a dollar more but u get a lot more meat compared to the non boneless option.
I kept on biting on the bones which was not really enjoyable.
Will definitely return for guaranteed good food at affordable prices but
I still wanna go around trying other places that serve up butter chicken..

Thus begins my search for the best butter chicken.

Last time i dined here was in June 07,
was seated @ the non smoking area, quite generic, like ur typical restauranty ambiance, dim lights, soothing music, i liked it. But this new experience was cool, seated on a carpet and resting on a cushion@ times while chilling and chatting..i liked it..well minus the looks i kept getting from our "neighbours"..

Service was ok..a bit hard since our servers were not very fluent in english but they didnt get anything wrong and were helpful and attentive so no complains here..

Food was better than the 1st time i came. Then i also ordered the Meshawi, mix of lamb, chicken, vege kebabs and a lamb chop. Found the ones i tried b4 this too overly seasoned till it tasted too salty. This time was so much better. And cooked well not..kebabs werent hard to chew. Lamb chop was my fav. juicy and the fats were delicious..(im unhealthy so sue me)..

Dessert was baklawa. Filo pastries with nuts in then..i liked it actually..not too sweet and not overdosed with syrup..though i still love the ones my stepdad brings home from australia.

Overall i enjoyed my experience there. Special thanks to the Watch man for the treat. Especially since i tapao-ed a shish kofta kebab for my mom to eat which she loved btw..

n special mention for the bread. thin n nice..i think i can just live on the bread and the tahina(one of the dips they served)..

Shout out to the fabulous company i had, Mr Watch Man, The Cerewet One(refer to malay english dictionary to know what cerewet means), the MIB(referring to his profile pic) and my Makan Buddy aka Miss CY..I had a throughly enjoyable time. Am definitely looking forward to more get togethers..

Had about 45 minutes to have dinner and hopefully dessert so me n bf just ordered the ocean crunch salad and the sambal fish(to be slitely adventurous) and a white chocolate blondie to come together.

    I ordered a sprite too

    10 minutes later-No Sprite

20 Minutes later- Food came, still no sprite..called for assistance, person who assisted went to counter talked to another waiter and disappeared, other waiter came and instead of gettin sprite, got plain water

25 Minutes later - Only did sprite come(in a smaller than the happy meal cup glass)

35 Minutes later- Food gobbled up yet no Blondie in sight aside from the caucasian lady seated opposite us.Checked and it seems that they didnt put in the order So we cancelled it and asked for the bill..

i went to the loo and came back which brings us to

45 Minutes- No bill, so pay at counter(which judgin from the slow service b4 this he prob shuldv done without askin for the bill)..

Food, i still liked the salad, came in a huge portion with generous amnt of prawn, calamari n fish..typical grub,

Sambal fish was Okay, fish was a tad too fishy though, sambal was weridly not too hot probably catering to those who cannot handle too much sambal and the asparagus was a boiled too long so very not nice.

Its the airport so as usual even with not too many ppl its super noisy and busy busy busy..No ambiance really. Value. 45 for just a salad, main and a teensey weensy drink..I couldv had the same thing at cartel(with a bigger drink, no make it 2) and another main and prob another side..So nop..not really good value.

Service, not putting in an order when we ordered everything at the same time, ignoring request for drink ordered and asking sum1 else to do it(at least if get it right then something), being asked for the bill and going off somewhere not returning with any sign of the bill..What do u tink ill rate the servie??

Lucky thing i liked the salad..Only saving grace.

I really do miss the old swensens. Where food was not crazy expensive yet so normal and service was fantastic.

Used to be a loyal employee of Gelare @ the now non existant Tampines outlet and I think the last time i had their sinful waffles and ice cream(vanilla choc chip, Swiss caramel choc, cookie dough Honey Malt crunch!!!)

Just typing is making me salivate

Wanted to try desserts from our dinner location but unfortunately we couldnt cos it was closing so we transferred to Gelare for sum well deserved desserts..especially after a depressing wet day..

Got a Oreo Cheezcake and Half a waffle with Tiramisu Ice Cream, whipped cream and Caramel Sauce YUM!!..

Oreo chezcake was alryt. Reminds me of the one from other places.

But the highlight. The star of the show was the Waffle. It smelled divine. And the taste..orgasmic..It was crispy(even after it was doused with all that topping, and fluffy and tastee, The caramel sauce complimented the tiramisu ice cream well though i found the whipped cream abit on the not sweet side..

Citibank gets 10% discount with purchases over $10. Or Tuesdays is their signature half price waffles(plain waffles only no credit discount)

Overall good dinner, heavenly dessert and fantastic company..

      Definitely cured my Thurzday Blues
