Chanced upon a Pepper Lunch outlet at the Central (shopping centre above Clarke quay mrt) when we were searching for a place to celebrate my friend's birthday last week. It was a first time for many of us. So we were quite eager to try it out.

There was much on the menu to choose from, ranging from the rice, steak to combo series. An addition of fried egg or cheese can also be added to your set for just 50 cents more. I ordered the salmon and chicken combo which came with a drink of your choice.

When the food arrived, the staff was very helpful in explaining to us the procedure of cooking the food. That was an added plus as we could have undercooked the food if we were too slow ( the hot plate stops sizzling after a while).

The food came in rather large portions and was generally delicious with the chicken well seasoned. Furthermore, we were allowed to stay in the outlet for quite some time without any complaints from the staff at all. We were even greeted with smiles when we left.

Perhaps due to the location, there was enough space for us to stay there for a long chat after dinner. But it was well-appreciated. =)

Have a dim sum craving but under budget? Don't look further.

Crystal Jade Kitchen has a wide range of cantonese dim sum available including the widely known xiao long bao and many other treats to have a light but satisfying tea. There is even chinese dessert available and the red bean paste cakes is highly recommended.

If you are looking for a more filling meal, you can choose from a range of congee, rice or noodles. To top it up, order a pot of authentic chinese tea and your meal is done!

My partner and I ordered the yang zhou fried rice, chee cheong fun with prawn fillings, har gao (prawn dumplings), traditional chicken rice dumplings and red been paste cakes.

Service was very good and efficient and piping hot food was served in a jiffy. We stayed there for about 2 hours, chatting over tea and throughout the process, the staff there was very friendly and helpful.

Crystal Jade Kitchen is indeed a good place to go to if you want to spend time catching up with an old friend under a relaxing environment.

Luvishbits was started by a friend of mine due to her passion and interest in design and DIY items.

I've been patronising luvishbits regularly not because it was set up by my friend but because the accesories sold there are unique and are one-of-a-kind pieces. Apart from that, the prices are also rather affordable. As the items come in pretty little satin pouches, I also won't have to worry about packaging them nicely before giving them away.

It's always the first place I'll look when I need to prepare presents or exquisite little gifts for my friends. Good and friendly service from the owner is also an added plus!

So don't hesitate to try this alternative way of shopping! Also a good way of getting customised jewellery that suits you to a T. =)
