The food is good without a doubt. My favourite in crystal jade has always been their porridge. Its a plain dish yet they can do it so well.
Sadly, the crystal jade in J8 is disappointing. On my both visits (thought we ought to give them 2nd chance), the drinks were served after the food came, and to add to our displease, we waited very long for the food. I dont mind waiting if the place was packed, but we went before the dinner crowd came.
The servers there tend to talk among themselves (right in front of us). During our 2nd visit, we could still see and hear their arguement over the food serving.
The other crystal jade i had patronised (toa payoh & suntec) has no such problems (and the restaurant size is way bigger). If you wish to dine in CJ J8, you may want to think twice.
Have a dim sum craving but under budget? Don't look further.
Crystal Jade Kitchen has a wide range of cantonese dim sum available including the widely known xiao long bao and many other treats to have a light but satisfying tea. There is even chinese dessert available and the red bean paste cakes is highly recommended.
If you are looking for a more filling meal, you can choose from a range of congee, rice or noodles. To top it up, order a pot of authentic chinese tea and your meal is done!
My partner and I ordered the yang zhou fried rice, chee cheong fun with prawn fillings, har gao (prawn dumplings), traditional chicken rice dumplings and red been paste cakes.
Service was very good and efficient and piping hot food was served in a jiffy. We stayed there for about 2 hours, chatting over tea and throughout the process, the staff there was very friendly and helpful.
Crystal Jade Kitchen is indeed a good place to go to if you want to spend time catching up with an old friend under a relaxing environment.
