Turtle House located at 403 Guillemard Road or for parking to turn in at Geylang Lor 36 and the restaurant is located at the end of the alley. Parking lots are limited and you can call the restaurant for reservations especially on weekends and public holidays.

I like to visit this restaurant for its delicious turtle dishes and black chicken herbal soup. They also sell seafood like fish, prawns etc, vegetable dishes, beef, pork and chicken. Other then this if you like somthing special, you can try their crocodile meat and frog meat. The crocodile meat is very tender and taste like chicken meat. I haven tried the frog dishes so far as I don't take frog meat.

And if you are daring enough, you can try the "turtle special" which consist of male turtle genitals..

Me and my friends went for supper at this restaurant frequently and our favourite dishes are black chicken soup (must add their special rice wine which add fragrant to the soup), stewed turtle paw, stewed crocodile, turtle soups with the skin/leg/eggs, shrimp paste fried chicken wings, sambal prawns, salad you tiao and many others. We always ordered yam rice to go with the food.

My personally favourite is the shrimp paste fried chicken wings which is very crispy outside and tender inside, the black chicken soup with lots of rice wine added and steam song fishhead which is tender and sweet.

The restaurant does not serve any dessert but they do have beers and red/white wine if you are in the mood for alcohol. They also allow us to bring our own alcohol and charge us for the ice pack only.

The dishes especially the soup, are slightly more pricely but still consider affordable. I was told they also supply turtle meat and soup ingredients to other stalls as they are the importer for turtle meat.

I went Rajah Inn for lunch today at Tiong Bahru Plaza. I had been there previously and like the porridge and dish selection so Im back again today!

As usual, I had the sweet potato porridge (had to search for the little pieces of sweet potatoes in the porridge) instead of the normal rice. There are fried beehoon as well which goes down well with the plain porridge.

The dishes was almost the same as when I visited previously. Chicken curry, salted vegetables with pork slices, spicy sichuan vegetable, gong bao chicken pieces, bitterground with bean sauces, fried fish pieces (yummy and my favourite!), salted egg quarter, ikan bilis, fried peanut, stewed pork slices (recommended as you hardly find them as soft and thick outside), steamed egg with tofu and etc.. and many vegetables choices. There are pork, mutton, chicken and beef choices to sample.

I went for 2nd round as usual as the porridge was plain but soothing to the taste bud. I paid $8.10 /w gst and it would cost $10 if you order drinks with the meal.

If you like something simple for lunch and sample different choices of dishes for a cheap price at unlimited servicings, you can consider coming here for lunch.

Our whole family went to Sakura Tampines for dinner recently for the Japanese feast promotion.

The whole place was packed even on a sunday night! We decided to visit Tampines's branch at the Safra as 3 of us are Safra's member and there is a 10% discount for each Safra member 2 guest.

My hubby loves the fresh sakura raw prawns and raw salmon slices and had at least 1kg of the raw prawns in his stomach by the end of the dinner :)
The salmon slice was the thickest I had seen in all the sukura resturauant visited. At least 0.5cm thick! It was so delicious and fresh. However the sushi selection was limited.

The raw oysters was small and we are quite disappointed. Yio chu kang has better choice of raw oysters.

I went for the raw salmon and other cooked japanese dishes which was quite tastely but common. There was 1 dish, cooked seacumber which I quite like and was surprised to find in their japanese feast. Other food was quite ordinary and found in most buffet so I didn't go for it.

The dessert selection was limited but I like the cheescake and the many mochi favours. They are delicious and not too sweet. I could finish lots of them if not for the fact that I am too full..

Overall, I thinkTampines Sakura is great and I would visit it again for the thick slices of salmon and dessert.

We went to the Sembawang branch for dinner at the suggestion of my sister-in-law on last Sunday night.

As there were 7 of us, we waiting for 30mins before they could find a table for us. Their table arrangement are more suit to 2 - 4 person seatings if you do not like to wait long. Initially to reduce our waiting time, they let us have 2 tables a distance away each other. After ordering our food, they came and inform us that they had a table that could hold all 7 of us which we were very happy about it. A family gathering should be for all to sit together and enjoy the moment rather than to sit seperately inorder to have our food served faster.

Most of them order the extra cut beef steak at the recommendation of the waitress. However, even though each ask for different percentage of well-done (medium raw to well-done), the steak came looking almost the same internally. Red and raw looking although there were no liquid blood dripping when cut. My father-in-law joked that next time he can train to eat raw meat straight from the cow..LOL. His steak look as though the outer skin was cooked only, internally was fully red. However, my hubby say his was ok...the red meat add to the sweetness ??! of the meat. Yucks!

I had the grilled fish but wished that I had gone for the fish n chip instead. The grilled fish with herb was a bit too dry, the surface was hard and the internal slightly dry with little juice. The side dish (cold potato salad) was of huge portion which I liked, but I do not recommend the hot garden salad (overcooked and spongy broccoli and baby carrots, which should had be green and crunchy). Btw, a cup of iced water cost $0.30 each. Other cold side dish like house salad, colestraw was ok and in huge portion. Recommend to go for the cold side dish instead of the hot ones. Fries and onion rings were of smaller portions as compared to the cold side dish.

Overall, the price was ok, consider cheap for a steakhouse but too bad they do not have dessert on their menu. At least some ice-cream or sundae to complete the meal would be great.

            10. The Square @ Furama

            Category: Buffet, International
For my mother-in-law's birthday, we brought her to The Square @ Furama to celebrate. As we hear good reviews from a friend who often went round to test out buffets, we decided to give the place a try.

We need to place advance reservations as we are told that it is often fully booked especially in the weekends and walk-in are seldom entertained due to no available seats. We booked 5 days in advance, and the restaurant called us 1 day before to re-confirm our timing and number of pax, which was quite surprising for us.

The food spread consists of international buffet spread like sushi, chinese cooked food, salad bar and dessert. The spread was limited as compared to other buffet restaurant but the food quality was very good. Even my picky sister-in-laws commented that the food was good and go for 2nd and 3rd rounds. We like the peking duck (crispy n juicy), chilli sotong (soft and tasty, not hard or rubbery due to over cooked), pan-grilled fish, and the 1cm thick n fresh tuna sashima and cooked cold octopus meat at the seafood section. However, we were abit disappointed that chilli crabs and oysters were not on the menu on that day..Friend had recommended these 2 dishes to us :p

The dessert was ok - ice-cream, cakes slices (must try the bread pudding), fruits, ice kacang and aelo vera cocktail. Drinks were limited to free flow iced water, hot coffee or tea (coffee was very good, strong and full of favour). Service was good as they are very attentive and cleared our plate/top up water also immediately.

But we were planning to come back again as the Father-in-law was asking us when we are going back again for Father's Day celebration.
