Azabu Sabo.
BAM!
What comes to my mind?
Yummy yummy Japanese Ice cream made into towering pyramids on super crunchy cones...
well I wouldn't call them cones.
They're not really cones. If you know what I mean.
Anyway, I particularly like the fruit flavours (Eg, blueberry) as the chocolate is way to mild for a chocoholic like me.
I've never tried the Hot... hot.. Bah. something hot. Hot cakes? NO.. nevermind.
I've never tried anything other then their ice cream so I cannot really tell you much about them... Heard it was pretty okay, though.
I like the ambience. You know, tinkling Japanese music, like that out of an anime series.
However, the shop assistants there cannot really speak English. No offence.
I still prefer Clarke Quay man.

Not worth it.
Made a bad choice to come here for dinner under the recommendation of a friend's friend. Bad friend :(
Was hankering after noodles, and saw that their udon selection is quite unique as they serve it flat, like kway chap. Decided on the very light soup udon, and my friend ordered teriyaki chicken set.
The udon soup was very bland (but hot though), and came with the pieces of kway chap with leeks, mushrooms, and 2 pieces of very strange things. Looks like soggy fried beancurd but was utterly tasteless and painstakingly chewy. Like boiled mua chee with no peanuts.
My friend couldnt finish his teriyaki chicken because it was served lukewarm and tasteless too. Looks not bad but didnt score in the taste department at all. Perhaps the chef ran out of soy sauce that day.
Had been eyeing their green tea ice cream whenever I walk past, so I had to try it since I was there. Ordered the dessert duo: green tea ice cream moochi. The ice cream was not too bad, but moochi bland as well. Ugh.
The other thing we tried was this vanilla ice cream with red beans and baked puffs served in a bowl. Not too bad actually because there was a nice contrast of hot and cold, and vanilla ice cream tasted homemade.
Maybe the desserts was not bad because the mains were terrible. Service was nothing to complain about, and price was average, although I did spot their green tea ice cream on a cone being priced as $8.80 on the menu.
Maybe worth buying ice cream to go when you have the cravings, but dont come here for dinner. You'd be better off at the food square :D

Azabu Sabo has been famous for its authentic Hokkaido ice cream. A small cup of its ice cream like these costs $3.80, a bit expensice but it do guarantee the quality. if you are unsure of which flavour to choose, and do not want to regret ur choice, feel free to get the person to let u try the flavour you want! they do provide such services.
Green tea ice cream. there is a hidden taste of milk but not very strong. I heard its the authentic kind from Hokkaido. the taste is not too sweet and just right. i like the taste of the green tea. soothing for ur tongue.
Tiramisu. there is an obvious taste of wine in the ice cream. but again, not overwhelming. a veru special and unique taste which i have never tried before.
Do give it a try if you are craving for authentic jap ice cream =)

Guys like me think Japanese are sweet and seductive, but just in case your mind start wandering to those kawaii Japanese schoolgirls, let me just share with you that I am talking about food (I am a foodie, what else can I be talking about!?), but more precisely, their dessert. Making quite a buzz since its opening in Marina Square in the month of June 2006, Azabu Sabo, follows an original teahouse philosophy and serves authentic Japanese desserts. Its selection of desserts and Hokkaido Ice Cream, available for the first time in Singapore, has made itself especially popular with female clientele.
It is said that they directly imports the main ingredients from Japan, such as the top grade red beans, produced from Hokkaido, which are not overly-sweet. However, I beg to differ. I ordered by far the most popular and highly recognised Matchazen, or Green Tea Ice-Cream in a Bowl of Dumplings & Red Bean Paste, and was overwhelmed by the sweetness of the mushy red bean paste.
Thank goodness the strong bitter after-taste of the ice cream was able to neutralise it. The dumpling though tasteless was soft in texture and chewy, unlike those you bought off the supermarkets. Unlike the immaculate service that is found everywhere in the humble land of the rising sun, the service standards of this outlet was found lacking. The service staffs that day were mostly foreigners who did not seemed to have a good grasp of English. They had problems trying to understand my questions when I tried to find out more about the desserts, and they were particularly non-existent when I tried to settle the bill. What a pity though, if only they could import the sweet Japanese service culture as well.

I'm giving azabu sabo 4 stars solely based desserts and service. I have heard lots of bad reviews about their main courses so I don't think I am ever going to try them.
Desserts:
The green tea sauce shaved ice ($8.90) was really good and refreshing. It contains red bean paste as well. Their soft-serve ice cream is not too sweet and has a smooth milky texture to it. The glutinous dumplings was perfect with the red bean paste.
Service:
Even though we were only eating desserts, the waitress fills up our cups with green tea whenever it is empty.
I've been to azabo sabo more than once and I think it's a great place to have desserts.
I want to try their baked sweet potato with ice cream and hokkaido hot balls next!

heard from the staff there that the ice cream base powder is directly from hokkaido japan. so, thats explain why the ice cream is forever tasting so smooth and nice.
personally recommend the green tea, mango and milk tea.... its my overall favourite!!!!!
try the hokkaido hot ball with ice cream.... its tasty!! there is custard inside the hot ball~~
simply taste yummy!!!! i love it!!!!

Nice Desserts! But avoid the main courses
It's pretty authentic looking and tasting Japanese desserts. I just found the red bean a little too sweet, which is rather 'unauthentic' of Japanese desserts.
The green tea ice-cream is in a good balance, the green tea flavour is rich while the milk only has a light hint. It is very smooth with no powdery after taste like the usual green tea ice-creams.
There is a lack of variety in the ice-cream flavours if you were dining in.
For take aways, try the green tea red bean, lychee and milk tea.
I didn't like the Teriyaki Chicken Bento. The chicken was dry and despite its name, the chicken was steamed. Taste-wise is alright, but the dry chicken was disappointing. The portion was small as well.
