Nice spot for a leisure lunch

Went there for lunch on Saturday, not a bad place~~

It was my friend who suggested the place, and I had to agree that its is indeed a nice spot for a leisure lunch or even Sunday brunch. Dotted with tais tais and leisure ladies, and occasional families, with attentive and well informed service staff who makes you feel at ease.

My friend ordered the lamb shank. Not being a red meat lover I chose their pasta of the day: pasta with smoked salmon and crayfish. The lamb supposedly is good. The pasta taste wise was not bad, although I wished the smoked salmon was strips instead of chopped up and tossed in. The crayfish...er...came in mini-size. The many mini crayfishes covered the pasta, looked really nice, but had really puny pieces of flesh...not enough taste-wise for me.

Had a bottle of wine too. I think it was their 2004 housepour, not too bad actually. Kudos on the ambience though. Tables were really close to each other but you don't feel closed in. Nice~~

Must have spent about $100 for lunch, including the wine. An indulgence for a weekend, but will be back to try their other stuff.

Went to Culina for lunch. I tried the Linguine with Bug and Tomato Concasse ($20). Actually, the name (the bug part) was so intriguing that I couldn't not try it. Bug is supposed to be a organism with a Lobster body and a crayfish head. But it looks just like a crayfish to me. Nevermind, just as long as it tasted good (I found it a bit soggy but no complaining cos it's quite a good portion of 3 little bugs). The noodles are tossed in the delicious crusterean gravy. The tomatoes are juicy and sweet - with none of the usual tartness present.

      The Enoteca Set Lunch (available Mon-Fri 12 to 3pm, $30 )

Choice of a starter from either Duck Mousse with morsels or Smoked Eel Salad.
The Duck Mousse with Morsels was a delightful smooth little scoop of duck blended so well, and there's apparently truffles inside. But I couldn't taste any truffle. Maybe it's a truffle which doesn't have much taste??

Mains: Choice of either grilled wagyu rump with mushroom sauce and seasonal vegetables or Flathead Fillet with Seasonal Vegetables and White Wine Sauce. The mushroom sauce is fantastic, complementing the delicious beefy flavour of the Wagyu. And the wagyu was executed perfectly (we asked for Medium-rare). It came with exotic grilled vegetables - 2 of which I've never eaten before- some squash thing and a cucumber-ish vegetable.

Choice of Chocolate Caker or Cherry Parfait - with cherry sauce. The cherry parfait tasted vaguely coconutty to me, but I don't think there's really coconut inside. Nevertheless, the cherry taste in the parfait was good, and the texture ofwhole thing was an in between a mousse and a ice cream.

Overall, I found this a pleasant place to have lunch - though there are cheaper lunch sets out there...
