Hi Everyone! I've got a mix of both positives & areas that I'm not so agreeable about with Giant Megamart @ Tampines too.

But on the whole, I would love to give them some lee-way as all others with a retail chain becox it's challenging to operate large-scale operations even in a small country like Singapore :)

Thus far, apart from the PRC national staff deployed @ the DVD/ video counter (not sure if she's still there), the other staff/ promoters whom I've dealt with @ Giant were very polite & helpful. Sometimes, it does take them quite a while to search or find out & provide customers (like myself) an answer but I do see them putting in an effort to work things out with us.

The cashier counter Q-s are always very long during peak periods, regardless of whichever supermkt U visit in general. I do agree that the PRC cashiers can't converse in English but I was satisfied with their service becox they R polite even when there's a long Q.

One complaint I didn't like is the open-concept of fresh meat, fish - it was a turn-off where hygiene is concerned. People sneezing on them & handling them after picking their noses! Urgh! So I don't buy from that section.

I won't comment much on their pricing as I am not those details type of person. There are two pros point which make me go there and shop for my grocerries. 1) They open till 12am in the night, for those who work till late and need to get some last minute shopping for next day, this is very convenient as Fair Price closed at 10pm. 2) Free Carpark!!

But I don't like their cashier que.. is way too long during the weekend evening. And some of their cashier from China can't even speak simple english. There's once, this cashier speak Mandarin all the way to a Indian customer all the way, and is funny to see that Indian aunty ponder with tonnes of question mark for that moments! Maybe they thought all ppl in SG can understand Mandarin include our Malay and Indian friends.

         Giant (Giant Building) - Shopping

I went to pick up my Christmas Turkey and sushi from this outlet, thinking that it is nearer to home. But I regreted.

I didn't want to spend $ on taxi, since I chose Giant for the fact that its turkey and sushi is cheap. But I didn't thought that they would give me such a badly designed cupboard container for the turkey: the handle got torn due to the pressure and I had to hug the whole container like a baby. And the side also gave way, causing my sausage-shaped turkey filling pack to roll and fall onto the floor. And the free bus was so crowded that my hands nearly break from "carrying the baby". Plus a tray of sushi on top. Luckily an auntie asked her "baby" (a 5 year old boy) to give way to my "baby". Else I can't imagine how I survive the bus ride.

Thinking back, I don't understand why would they want to have a Giant there? I know a lot of people drive to Giant for their big groceries shopping, but I don't find a lot of things cheaper than NTUC. And why did the others without cars, also go all the way to bring back such heavy groceries (like me) other than for the real-cheap turkey and sushi?

And I promise myself not to get conned into going there again. Unless I get a car, else I rather not go to Giant in the long-queue bus rides.

Our flat is within walking distance fr Giant but even then, we find it very out of the way as compared to NTUC West Plaza; I visit maybe once in 3-4 months :P

Hang on, didn't they offer U a plastic carrier for the turkey? Yeah I do agree not all the items fr Giant R quite expensive. I only buy what NTUC doesn't have fr Giant.
