4 Reviews for “IKEA Restaurant (Alexandra)” - Restaurants
I have always been hearing my friends talk about the meatballs at IKEA for the longest period of time, saying how nice it was and it is a must-try when eating at IKEA, but the thing was that I didn't eat beef until recently.....
So I told myself I just had to try the Swedish Meatballs at IKEA some time soon and I visited IKEA recently and finally had a taste of the the Swedish Meatballs. At first I thought I won't be full eating just meatballs since it looked like the whole dish was just made up of a few meatballs on the plate and I could easily finish it, but I was wrong... The meatballs were actually very filling and yes, it was nice! I like the jam that came with the meatballs and eating the meatballs together with the jam is delicious.
I'll definitely go for the meatballs again on my next visit to IKEA.

Stopped off at Ikea Alexandra for a 'light' meal before the gym, as the outlet is roughly between my workplace and the gym.
The queue at about 6.15pm was not too bad, and we got our food within ten minutes. Finding a table to sit at was also quite easy. Guess we missed the evening crowd.
Ambience
Love the large open feel of the restaurant. Looks just like an extension of the furniture showroom itself, spacious, bright and bustling. The layout of the dining area allows for more combinations of diners, including large and small tables for couples, families and bar seating for casual meals. The inclusion of a children's play area is also a nice touch.
Food
The variety of cuisines available is quite decent. Besides local and western dishes, Swedish meals such as the herring platter and the famous meatballs and daim cake are also very popular.
We decided on the Chicken Leg ($7.50) and Pasta with Meatballs ($7.50). The nicely roasted chicken was tender and tasty and served with a smooth mashed potato and baby carrots. One of those dishes where you don't actually need additional condiments like chilli sauce. The pasta was a bit soggy, and the tomato sauce was insufficient to our liking, but the meatballs, as usual, saved the day with each firm and flavourful bite.
Both dishes were quite reasonable portions which filled us up pretty much. The refillable softdrink ($1.50) filled up our stomachs.
... we never made it to the gym. Instead, we walked off the meal by wandering around the showroom (and picking up more impulse purchases). Haha, the perils of eating at Ikea.

My current favourite place to dine and shop at is IKEA!
When hubby and I went to have our fix of chicken wings and Swedish meatballs on 5th April 2008, we saw bad news at the Restaurant.
The restaurant would be closed from 7th April to 22May!
I'm so upset can. :(
Because the restaurant is normally always full, we always attack in this order.
1) Find seats.
2) While looking for table, discuss what we want to eat.
3) After finding the table, one person sits to "chop the table".
4) The other person clears table and quickly runs off to buy food for both.
5) Attack the food. :)
6) Clear own table after finishing.
hahas.
Anyway, what I thought is interesting at Ikea, is that on their tables, instead of signs introducing food, they have signs advertising their furniture! Cute right? :)
On 5th, we had chicken wings, smoked salmon, meatballs and lime jelly. The price is pretty average. Not too expensive, only trouble is looking for seats and clearing the table on your own if you don't wanna wait for the helpers to help you clear them.
Both hubby and I love the lood at Ikea. :)
Writing this review is making me really really hungry. :(
Can't wait to go back there to eat and shop again.

What's better then taking a short break from work and shopping at Ikea Alexandra (it's nearer to the office compared to Tampines) with Lamb? Erm... Shopping at Orchard without Lamb perhaps. Don't answer that. Hope my boss doesn't read this either.
I'm sooo not shopping for my royal princess room, if you're wondering.
I want to... But my so-called princess room isn't going to exist for quite some time (and not forgetting I only have less then an hour to look around). Perhaps if I get more endorsements, sponsorships and/or a major increment, my dream will come through earlier? *Hint*
Oh by the way, have you heard of the saying:
Swedish one for this case. - So not funny. But at least I'm trying.
Before 'shopping' we had a short lunch break.
Moving forward...
This is the first stop I think, and as you can see, it's a mountain of BOXES! Kinda looks kewl from far, BEFORE noticing the price tag that is.
After noticing the price tag. *Ahem* My jaws dropped!
Geez. Only Mother (aka Angie) would buy them.
Boxes are boxes. I mean, S$15 more you can get a nice metal shelve to put 'your' stuff. Not forgetting metal shelves last so much longer then cupboard! I seriously do not understand why.
Oh well...
At least the clocks were relatively cheap (don't bother trying to find the price tag in the photo, it's not there)?
The photo-taking (within Ikea that is) stopped thereafter.
Sadly, I was told that I'm not allowed to take photos within Ikea's shopping area. Please don't ask me why, I don't really understand why they have this completely stupid rule.
I also don't understand what's up with that silly looking pose.
