Song Fa Bak Kut Teh

There are two outlets located within a few metres of each other. One is a traditional coffeeshop setting, on the street corner, while a second outlet serves the same menu in airconditioned comfort. Both command long queues especially in the evenings.

We chose the aircon outlet as it was a hot evening, and were ushered to a table further inside the store. It was rather crowded that night, and it soon became quite stuffy where we were sitting.

We ordered the standard fare of Bak Kut Teh ($6.50 menu price) and side dishes of Braised Pig Trotters ($6.00), Preserved Vegetables ($1.20) and Dough Fritters/youtiao ($1.00).

The soup was nice and peppery, the pieces of pork ribs were quite tender, and falling off the bone. Most importantly, the wait staff were very attentive to keep topping up our soup bowls with piping hot broth.
