Dinner with a friend there was rather pleasant. I like the comfortable seats with enough space for my large bag. The tables were rather close to others at some point.

We were able to converse rather well without needing to shout. Service was prompt and our food arrived in a timely manner.

The fries' texture are just right, hard enough to hold the shape and soft enough to bite into without getting tired. Cheese goes well with the fries. Drinks are quite acceptable in range since I am not a soft drink lover.

Went here for a gathering. Had lunch there.

The place is at basement and it is quite a open-spaced concept, just like the one at citylink. Ambience wise, it is quite good, got soft music at background. Although it is quite open, it is not very noisy and is quite empty. Maybe it is lunch during a weekday.

Food wise, it offers the typical western meals. I had some beef steak. Fully cooked. Taste quite good due to the good marination.

There is also the Giant Yankee burger challenge. It's huge.. free if you can finish it all by urself!

Service wise, it is quite ok although i only got my food last among my 7 friends. It took around 15mins.

When it was there, they still give me a $10 shokudo voucher for over $100 spending. Interesting that branch of shokudo is at heeren.

I've always been wondering about New York New York, the pseudo New York eatery that took the local dining scene by storm a couple of years back with its first outlet at Citylink mall. Managed by the same group which also owns and operates Thai Express, Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe and Pinle, queues were long and winding especially during meal times. The eatery has since expanded to 6 outlets in Singapore to cope with the demand.

The AMK Hub outlet is located at the basement of the suburban mall and operates on a partially open concept, very much like the main branch at Citylink. The walls are plastered with scenes from New York City and there are semi private booths at a corner for a cosier dining experience. I did think that the tables in the middle are spaced too close to each other, very much like fast food restaurants, which makes for an uncomfortable dining experience.

Cheese Freedom Fries - Corny names aside, the fries tasted as bad as they sounded. Soft, soggy and drizzled with cheese that tasted like Twisties (the snack). The fact that it was served hot provided scant comfort.

Chicken & Prawn Combo - I don't know what to make of this dish as the prawn batter was too thick and soaked in oil while the chicken tasted rather average - something any mom and pop stall can churn out sans the relatively higher prices. Ironically, the wedges that came alongside were the better deal - not overly fried and piping hot.

Juicy Burger - I must admit that the burger was quite a size but the patty tasted rather "macdonaldish" albeit being alot thicker. The texture also suggested it was machine processed rather than hand chopped/made. I didn't appreciate the mustard and ketchup atop the patty as well.

$46 for a 2 pax lunch of such average quality certainly isn't going to win me over and I am pretty sure that amount can be better utilized elsewhere. Service, or lack of, didn't extend beyond taking our orders and serving them to us. Our requests for ice water took a long time to arrive and after repeated reminders. Even the manager had a nonchalent attitude when showing us to our seat. Average food plus lousy service (which I have to pay a 10% service charge for) is definitely a no go for me.

        See all my pictures here.

Alright many of my friends told me that this place sucked, but I saw the waffle on the menu and went in nevertheless.

Service here is slightly raw, but hey, at least they tried.
The feeling of the restaurant is like hongkong cafe, only that it feels like 'newyork cafe' but not really lol. They tried. They really tried.

Anyway, water refilling was prompt, I had cheese fondue vegetable fritters (tasted like tempura) and it was rather good. The cheese tasted like the cheese on KFC's Cheese fries, and I get the feeling it's the same kinda cheese.
Though it's heated on tealights, when the light was gone, it didn't really harden so I don't see where the fondue part comes.

The waffle, I had chocolate waffle. It's accompanied by maple syrup, so the experience itself is like having macdonald's hotcake with syrup, PLUS chocolate ice cream drizzled with chocolate syrup.

It was an orgasmic experience until you got tired of it halfway through the waffle. So lesson learnt, pls share your waffle.

The subsequent time I went, I shared salmon sandwich and bacon&ham sanwich with my friend, choice of bread was foccacia. It didn't really taste like foccacia, but it's toasted nicely...so it's forgiven. Salmon tasted not sashimi fresh, but fresh for smoked salmon, light, and tasty. Ham is normal picnic ham, bacon tasted like it was fried 3 hours ago.
          Verdict: Salmon Sandwich tasted better.
(One thing I really like, is the extremely fresh green/purple veg that was drizzled with something sour. It's not only included in the sandwich, its like a side. Much better alternative than cliched coleslaw or boiled baby carrots etc. It was really fresh and crunchy. But my friends said it taste like grass and didn't like it.)

Meanwhile our male friend is trying to devour a whole chicken and he said he got tired of the taste, a quarter through it.

After that, we were served freeflow green apple flavoured candy floss, and then we got a 'Lake Chocolate', which is actually deep fried breaded bananas and sour strawberries, drowning in a 'lake' of chocolate fondue, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the middle.

As my friend describes, it feels like giving ******** with ice...right. Crude but the feeling is the warm fried bananas mixed with the ice cream coldness and the warm again with warm chocolate...wow the feeling....

Anyway I do not think it sucked, as long as u noe wad to order.
