It's been a while since I last visited this price-friendly French restaurant.

My memory of this restaurant was their Signature Duck Confit and the Saveur Pasta starter.

I went ahead with these two choices and we also ordered the Rotisserie Baby Chicken as well as the Lychee Mojito.

    Signature Duck Confit ($22)

paired with: mash potato, sauteed mushroom, orange, natural jus

As always, the way the dishes are presented makes the dish looks more appetizing. However, I have to say I am a little disappointed in this dish. I do have expectations as I have been reminiscing it's taste from last time. I felt the duck meat was a little too dry and it did not absorb much of the flavours. Nonetheless, there are still parts of the duck leg that is tender and pleasing to taste. Overall I would give it a 3/5, with room for improvements to make the meat more flavourful and tender.

    Rotisserie Baby Chicken ($22)

paired with: roasted baby carrot, ratte potato, lettuce, roasting jus

This dish was ordered by my partner, and I tried a little of it and felt it tasted great. Comparatively, it has more flavours and the choice of meat or the cooking method makes the meat tender and easy to consume. Would give it a 4.5/5.

    Saveur Pasta ($9)

paired with: capellini, sakura ebi, chive, shallot, truffle oil

This starter is fragrant with the truffle oil and sakura ebi forming most of the flavour. I like how they used the angel hair spaghetti, which is a thinner pasta compared to the usual spaghetti for this dish, giving it more taste in each light bite. 3.5/5 for this!

    Lychee Mojito ($8)

I do like this drink as it gives a refreshing feel after a full meal. However, I think it lacks in lychee flavours and what makes it a lychee mojito was just the two pieces of lychee added to the mocktail. That aside, I still pretty enjoyed the drink. 4/5 and I might order the same drink if I were to revisit the restaurant.

Overall, I have to admit that I am a little disappointed with my visit as I felt the taste and experience I had years ago during my first visit, which had left a deep impression and an urge for me to revisit the restaurant, was absent in this visit. Not sure if I would visit Saveur again, but I must say there are still dishes worth a visit for.

Hope to have a better experience and improved taste if I were to give Saveur a try again some day! :)

I was there with a group of friends. Luckily we were early so managed to get a table for four. The food is reasonably priced. I had the mushroom cappuccino and chicken dish (A roulade of chicken thigh stuffed with foie gras-infused chicken farce, creamy basmati rice & parmesan sauce).

The mushroom cappuccino is good. Creamy. Tasty.

The chicken - too salty for my taste though.

The ambiance is good. Nice cosy feeling. The staff are helpful. One of my friend is pregnant and they take special care for her entrance in the crowded space. :)

I will definitely return to try out their other dishes.

I have heard about this “cheap and good French restaurant”, and went finally to try it out. As the recommendation also came with a warning of long queue, we reached around 11.45am and we were second in the queue. By the time we were allowed into the restaurant, there were already more than 5 groups in the queue. And by the time food starts to be served to some tables, we could already see the whole unit fully occupied – they must have expanded, as we realized that the unit next door also belongs to them. We left after we finished our soup and main dish, and the restaurant (both units) was still full, with some tables apparently already seated by the second group of customers.

We ordered the soup of the day – cream of mushroom. It taste like fresh mushroom (not canned mushroom soup) but I didn’t like that I can hardly taste any mushroom bits in it, but that’s a personal preference.

We ordered 1 appetiser to share among 3 – but it’s probably better for 1 to have it alone. Yes, we order the Foie Gras. The small piece of oily Foie Gras went well with the slice of poached apple, although I would prefer to have the Foie Gras with a little more grilled-surface as it would otherwise be a little too “creamy” on the whole.

My main dish was the pork belly and it is very fat. But not knowing how they did it, the fat layer does not taste like oil like those pork belly in Chinese dish. Instead it is “solid” and thus goes well with the meat areas – I finished the whole piece and feel like just had an intake of collagen……

We don’t recall attractive dessert on the menu, and the restaurant is just not suited for chit-chatting: the place is so noisy! It’s either the high ceiling or the long narrow unit structure or the wall material that caused the noise from the different groups of friends, colleagues or families to just surround the whole restaurant. So we went off without trying any of their dessert. Although I would want to go back again next time to try their other appetizer and main dishes.
