    Root Beer Float! We ordered:

    1) Texas Burger ($22.50), a whopping 250g beef patty (medium done) with Hickory Bbq sauce, smoked bacon, sauteed peppers, sweet onions and melted cheese. This was hearty, robust and absolutely delish, the way real burgers should be.

    2) Mac and Cheese ($17.50) and opted for an additional topping of roasted chicken to share. Seah Street Deli does one of the best renditions of this classic American comfort food around.

    3) Broadway ($25), a combination of a quarter roasted chicken and half rack baby pork ribs. As usual, we switched the potato wedges with mashed potatoes instead. The tender ribs were nicely glazed with a spiced bbq sauce

    4) SSD Fish & Chips ($22), and opted for the chips to be replaced with mashed potatoes as well. Seah Street Deli does a very commendable rendition of mashed potatoes, no instant powder mix here. This was very rustic and hearty, not too whipped, so it retains a chunky texture. The cheese-crusted dory fillet was, as usual, very fresh and flaky

    5) Sauteed Mushrooms ($7), assorted shitake with white and brown button mushrooms lightly sauteed with olive oil and aromatic herbs

    6) Root Beer Float ($10), a frothy concoction of fizzy root beer with a dollop of vanilla ice-cream on top, yummy.

    7) Omelette ($14) with Swiss Cheese ($2.50) and Portobello Mushrooms ($5). This came served with baked beans and 2 pieces of toasted bread. Simple and classic.

Seah Street Deli is an American western restaurant trying to portray the American culture where all the food served are typically twice the serving of what you usually get locally. With a nice decoration, and soothing music coming out of the jukebox in one corner, you can get yourself settle in pretty fast.

      Texas Burger

Unable to resist the temptation of a 250g beef patty doubled up with BBQ Smoked Bacon, I decided to go ahead and give this burger from "Texas" a try. The serving came with a generous (and I mean generous, they think that the potatoes are free) serving of fries. The size of the burger initially gives me a shock as it is easily about 15cm tall in height and about 150% of the diameter compared to McDonald's Big Mac burger!

Overall, the burger was pretty average. Their sauces and side ingredients did manage to whip up a good taste and eating sensation for the burger, but, I find that the main focus of the dish (250g beef patty) was a letdown. The patty cooked was a bit too dry and this caused me not to fully enjoy eating my whole burger. If you tell me is it worth the price to pay for the burger, my answer would be a straight No. Nevertheless, this restaurant did managed to provide a good ambiance and atmosphere for a group to gather and catch up over a meal.

Borrowing the tagline of a famous fastfood has-been in the Philippines, Seah Street Deli is the place to be, especially when you want to satiate your gastronomic desire for Western delight (no pun intended). Coming from a nation that is heavily Americanized and inhabited by extreme food lovers, there is perpetual craving for burger and fries – the official comfort food. I am very lucky to have followed most of my local friends’ recommendation.

I have lunched in for a few times already at Seah Street Deli in Raffles Hotel. I usually have the same dishes – Seah Street Deli Burger, Caesar salad and chocolate decadence cake. The result is still the same – happy and contented. Seah Street Deli Burger are not oily; they are tasty! Caesar salad is always fresh. My favorite sweet ender, the uberly yummylicious Chocolate Decadance. It’s perfect for a chocolate cake (yet a slice)!

I will be back in Seah Street Deli soon… to explore other dishes and have the same feeling of having gone to nirvana. Heavenly.
