THE TAVERN RESTAURANT was opened in July 1994. Started by Mr Poh Say Eng, a well-known restaurant Maitre ‘d, The Tavern offers Swiss & Continental Cuisine in an intimate and relaxed Swiss Chalet-inspired corner shop-house at River Valley Road near the Mohamed Sultan Road junction. The cosy restaurant seats 100 persons and has two other private rooms on the second level that are usually used for private functions. The bigger private room seats 35 persons while the smaller one seats 10 persons.

Second time there, beef is good, but not cheap. However will not go back anymore for 2 reasons. I ask for a spare chair for my bag and manager refuse to give it to me. Instead a small side stool where my bag cannot even rest and like falling off from that small stool. I ask if they can change, but was rejected,even we were the only customers then.. There were so many chairs. I say fine. I wouldn't ask for additional chair if the back of chair is not rounded, where i could hang my bag. Second reason is this manager went into the ladies toilet and smoke inside there.. When he came out, i went in immediately with my little girl and was breathless with the strong cigarette smell. Why is he using the ladies toilet and not man toilet? And why did he smoke inside, when there s a big sign in the toilet 'Do not Smoke'. We spend almost $500 and i felt it's not worth. The owner should counsel him
