In Tom Ton, we are specialized in serving Tonkatsu. We use only the best quality ingredients to assure the taste and tenderness of each cutlet we serve. Our Specialty will be the Berkshire (or 'Black pig') cutlet, and the bread crumb we use are made specially for frying cutlet.

The restaurant deocr was very homely..we didn't managed to get the window seat which was overlooking Singapore river.
My friend and I ordered the grille and soup, it was basically black pig, pork all the way...they gave us a bowl of sauce to dip with, we had no idea it was a dip as we weren't told, we took a sip and thought it was too salty for soup, i looked up and saw the waiter and waitress looking at each other covering their mouth to try not to laugh, I don't appreciate being laughed at, they should tell their customers how to go about with the food.
Overall the food was good. The taste of (Black Pig) is very fragrant and more tender compared to normal pork. The prices are pretty reasonable for the quality of ingredients you get.

In Chinese, "hot pot" is often called 火鍋; where huǒ means "fire" and guō refers to "pot", whereas in Japan, it is known as Shabu-shabu.

Unlike our Chinese Steamboat where the emphasis is the broth – which is made up of lots of ingredients to make the soup tasty – in Shabu-shabu the emphasis is on relishing the original flavour of the meat, so only clear water is used to cook the meat.

Having brought my parents to Marutama Ramen for dinner, we chanced upon Tom Ton, located just two units away, which specialise in Kurobuta Shabu-shabu.

Kurobuta, which is Japanese Black Hog, is 100% pure all-natural Berkshire pork.

Regarded as the highest quality pork in the world, the meat is said to be a combination of a sweet, rich flavour, and its delicate texture, unbelievable level of juiciness, and its excellent marbling, will really have you begging for more.

The hot pot is accompanied with Soba, and a "special dipping sauce" (as quoted from the waitress) which somehow taste like Miso.

Instead of the familiar sesame dip that my family is used to when we eat at home, we were instructed that everything from the vegetables to the meat, as well as the soba, goes into the dip - no wonder it is special, it is a multi purpose dip! Since they specialised in pork, our sides are both pork dishes as well.

The Miso-topped Grilled Pork was aromatic and tender, and each time you sink your teeth to it, juices from the meat overflow from within - a pity the serving was pretty pathetic. The other side we tried was the Tonkatsu Kurobuta.

Although their version was good, I felt their sister outlet at Tampopo served a meaner and fattier version of it. Overall, the food was good and the ambience - overlooking the Singapore River was fantastic, however the odds of us returning are very slim.

We felt that it was not valued for money, as the serving was pathetic for the price we paid (we had to stuff ourselves silly with bowls or rice and soba), and service was also found wanting as we waited for ten minutes for our table even though reservation was made. Also tough luck that the view did not bowled us over since our family stayed at Clark Quay for a good 20 years before we relocated!

Fried Sweet Potato   Black Pig Loin Katsu set

I decided to go there when I came upon an article about this place in a magazine. Since I had not tasted how black pork tasted, so go and give it a try.

The restaurant is among the many other japanese restaurants in the Central. Managed to locate the place easily.

The setting of the restaurant is a mixed of tradition and modern jap. We was seated near to the window with a view of clarke quay and Singapore River.

After looking through the menu, decided for starters, a deep fried sweet potato and for main, Black Pig Loin Katsu set and a Seafood Katsu Set.

The sweet potato was good and not oily as it is deep fried. Loved it!

For the main dish, the seafood set is generous with the tempura prawns, if not a normal seafood set in other jap restaurants. For the Black Pig Loin Katsu set, the black pig loin is tender and simply melts in my mouth. Even my friend who is not a pork lover, likes the taste of it!

Each set comes with free flow of cabbage and rice. The staff will ask you if you you need a refill.

They still got a lot of dishes with black pig pork so can give it a try! The service there is also quite good as well.

Pls note that the price might be a bit on the higher side as the pork are imported by air daily to ensure its freshness.

Was at this restaurant a couple of months back with my girlfriend and her friend. I was formerly introduced to this place by my colleague and so decided to give it a try.

The place was quite nicely done up and if you were sitting by the window, you can get a good glimpse of the lights and the Singapore River while having your dinner.

So after we were seated, we ordered Black Pig Shabu Shabu, Black Pig Loin Katsu set and extra plates of the Shabu Shabu meat. I must say that the Shabu Shabu meat was really tender and juicy. The taste was realy good, with the meat just melting in your mouth almost instantly. As for the Pig Loin Katsu, it was crispy and yet nt too oily, which was very good.

Unfortunately,we did not get to eat their dessert which was the Orange Jelly and Nagasi Warabi Mochi, which were already sold out when we wanted to place our order.

Overall, I would say that the food there taste really fantastic. However, the quantity of food is catered mainly either for one to two pax consumption depending on ur choice. Therefore I would be recommended to order extra plates of meat if you are a meat lover.

However, do take note that the prices there are slightly steeper due to the high quality of the meat, which is the Berkshire pork ("black pig") which is imported from the United States. As such, you may consider ordering extra plates of meat when you have finished your intial serving and wanna have more.
